The host called me to say he promised the house to a friend for Thanksgiving and wanted me to cancel the reservation shortly after I booked but wouldn’t refund my money. Spent hours on the phone with VRBO who clearly cater to hosts not guests. Do not recommend.
This was a beautiful house and property for our family to get away. Remote destination with all the comforts of home. Chuck was a very attentive host and was available to answer all our questions. Our family will return again in the near future.
This place is a true wilderness experience with a great home to relax at the end of a hike, fishing or splashing around in the creek. Plenty of room for everyone.. Chuck was on top of everything, quick to respond to any questions, and a great resource for knowledge of the region. I highly recommend and look forward to returning!
WOW!!! What an amazing stay we had! The house is perfect-plenty room for our big family! The privacy is just what we needed-seclusion with the best views! The owners are divine, so helpful and genuine! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this getaway in the mountains. We can't wait to return!! Chuck, if you ever want to sell...you know who to call!!
Perfect house for multigenerational family...teens had their space as did everyone else. Kitchen large enough for everyone to get their hand in cooking and outdoor living space great for relaxing, making business calls, and enjoying s’mores every night over a campfire. Perfect solitude. Lots of hiking and wildlife to enjoy.
Chuck was perfect host and quick to respond to all questions.
This home is FIVE stars. Everything you could want in a vacation is here. The house is immaculate and has tons of space for a large family to spread out. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked. The property is so fantastic that you could spend a week there and never want to leave. There is a lake for swimming and fishing, a river to walk along and fantastic hiking trails. Awesome place to bring children and dogs who like to explore. Chuck (the homeowner) is very attentive and responsive. If you are looking for a quiet place that is peaceful and away from the world this is it.
Vacation home was accurately displayed on the images provided, spacious , clean and located close to a lake. The road to the house is best tackled with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The trail is best reached with a car and clearly not that frequented. Did not encounter anyone on the trail, we traveled with 3 children under the age of 8 and the trail was challenging for them. One can also explore the creek that feeds the lake, which we enjoyed the most. If you are looking for a quiet mountain getaway this is a great choice.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. The setting is absolutely awesome. Chuck is super! Quick to respond to any questions and showed up to show us around and make sure we knew where all the trails were and the best fishing spots. The lake is great to spend the afternoon kayaking or canoeing with the kids or going for a swim(it’s a little chilly). We had a blast going up the river that feeds the lake and then walking the creek. Take time to hike mountain town creek trail but plan on several “river crossings”. The house has everything g you could possibly need and then some but honestly we didn’t spend much time inside. We are already trying to see if we can come back in the fall and be here when the trees are changing colors. I bet this place is spectacular! Oh yeah, if you have a clear night DO NOT miss the star gazing. It is phenomenal!
We spent 3 nights at Chuck's place & completely enjoyed the house & property! The trek up to the house from the paved road is 1.5 mi on a gravel road that was well maintained in December, '21. We took my full size 2WD truck & had no problem, but I wouldn't attempt it in a standard car.
Chuck was just leaving as we arrived. He was very friendly & accommodating and left extras for smores, a couple bottles of wine & a fully stocked kitchen!
We didn't intend on using the lake but did take a hike down to see it. Looks like it's really nice in summer.
We enjoyed sitting outside, listening to the stream below from the large porch.
We had a fire in the pit the second night we were there and it was wonderful!
Like Chuck said, don't try to use a GPS! I have an updated Garmin, it got us close, but still wasn't correct. This place is off the grid...literally!
We hope to return in the summer with my in-laws to fully enjoy the beautiful property in the Georgia wilderness!
Thanks Chuck!

For over 5 years, we rent from VRBO 2 times a year and both times we go to the mountains. Either North Carolina or Georgia. This was BY FAR the WORST experience. Let me use the host's description and explain.
"Just fully renovated" and "Cabin boasts all of the amenities and luxuries you would expect from the best resorts" But this is what you get: There was OPEN food in the refrigerator, freezer and cabinets. A red rubber band holding the kitchen faucet together; NO ELECTRICITY in one of the bedrooms; master shower faucet doesn't function properly (his handyman had to come us show us the "trick" to get the proper water temperature); spackling in over a dozen areas on the walls; no screens on the windows, keeping us from enjoying the cool mountain air; only one toilet paper holder in five bathrooms; refrigerator ice maker doesn't work; microwave didn't work; no hair dryer; no iron/ironing board; and one wine glass. Sheets in the master were cheap polyester and the towels are all mismatched. No bathroom floor mats. The pot holders in the kitchen had DRIED FOOD stuck on them.
"Mountain views and the sounds of the Mountain Town Creek rushing past your open doors". You cannot see mountains at all because it sits in the valley and the trees are dense. There are no sounds of the town creek unless you hike to the dam above the lake. And if you open your doors, bugs and critters come in. Again, there are no screens on the windows at all so you can't hear any part of nature unless you sit outside. Which, when we arrived the deck and furniture was covered in pollen. I washed the deck and furniture down myself.
"Stroll down to the lake."...His property has lake frontage, but you cannot access the lake from his property. I don't know what he considers a "stroll" but it is just shy of 500 YARDS (we mapped it) and it's a HIKE down the steep gravel driveway, then to a steep gravel road, across a dam (which is where the nice photo of the lake was taken--so that is NOT your view from the property), onto some else's private property-basically trespassing.
"take one of the kayaks and fishing pole". There was ONE kayak and it was in bad shape. He promised to have "two brand new kayaks" delivered within 2 days and that never happened. There is a canoe but no oars or life vests. We tried for 6 days to get solutions-- no avail and left 25 days early. This was by far the absolute worst experience we have ever had. He should ashamed.
Secluded and spacious cabin for family get together was great!
Cabin was secluded yet easy to get to. Lots of room for six adults and 3 children. Large, well stocked kitchen and large dining table for family meals. Three bedrooms with full bathrooms and two powder rooms. Outdoor area with firepit and flagstone patio were enjoyed by all!
Chuck's spot in the wilderness is amazing!! So many adventures just out the door!
Chuck was an amazing host and even shared a golf cart and fishing tips and gear! And being a small world, we found out we had hometown connections! Rent and I promise you will not be disappointed!
This was a beautiful place to catch up with friends, have the young boys play inside and out, go hiking on and off trail, and have all the amenities available to have a very comfortable vacation. Thank you for letting us make your home our 'home away from home'. We even got snow the last night and had a beautiful winter wonderland when we woke up. :) You won't be disappointed staying here! Thank you Chuck!
Our family of 10 stayed here for Christmas and it was amazing. The cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Mr. Glen, the host, was absolutely amazing. I would strongly suggest that you print your directions out before coming, because the GPS will get you turned around. Other than that, this place is wonderful.
Nice, well stocked, secluded cabin. Mr. Glenn was very responsive and very friendly. Two families shared this cabin and there was plenty of room for all 7 of us. Lots of hiking and fishing right near the cabin. A few things for planning purposes. The cabin is 29 minutes from the nearest town but there is a dollar general and gas station about 20 minutes towards town. The internet is pretty slow which is also needed for the TV. We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. Thank you Glenn family we appreciated you opening your home to us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This was our first time staying in North Georgia. The scenery was beautiful, especially the leaves changing colors. The cabin is perfect for a large family. We appreciated all of the amenities. Can’t wait to come back with our boys! Thanks again
We loved our stay at this property and can't wait to return. It's inside a gated community that borders the Cohutta Wilderness Area and allowed for some awesome exploring--trails, the creek, the lake, etc. We fished, kayaked, canoed, swam, floated in tubes, used the firepit, collected wildflowers, spotted turkeys and deer, and enjoyed the perfect weather. The Bear Creek Trail is very close to this property and we hiked it to see Gennett Poplar, the second largest tree in Georgia. We caught brim and bass in the lake. The house is so warm and welcoming; the owners even left bottled waters and snacks for us to enjoy. There was plenty of room for us (a family of 5) to spread out. The kids loved the 4-bed bunk room and having their "own TV room" downstairs. It was clean and bright and spacious. I can't say enough-we loved it!
The property was well suited for family with a big well stocked kitchen and a separate living area for kids or another couple to hang out. There were endless decks and places to sit outside and soak up the nature. We had access to a private hiking trail along a mountain stream right from the property and were able to fish in the private lake. The host was super helpful and quickly responded to our questions. The setting was tough to beat. Was also equipped with a fabulous outdoor kitchen, fire pit and area to play outside games. We brought a portable corn hole and had a great time in the afternoons. The only caution I would offer is that I would not try to navigate the hilly gravel drive with a sports car. We had no problem with our truck and subaru. Loved the spot and cant wait to go back.
The land is just beautiful. Great place for people who love nature, hiking, swimming, and all kind of outdoors activities. Very remote and safe for the entire family.
The house is well designed to accommodate 3 couples and 4 children. The rooms are spacious, all with their own bathrooms, and the common spaces are perfect for family gatherings. Our visit was a family reunion and it worked just great.
The house is in need of a face lift and in talking with Chuck about it, he told us that they are planning to remodel it in August. I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be after a light remodel.
The only part that it was a bit disappointing is related to access to the lake and water sports amenities. The current set up is not conducive for a carefree/easy experience. I also brought this up to Chuck and he said that they had plans to add some sort of floating dock and make it safer for everyone.
One piece of advice: the road to the property is long, steep in places, and very rough. We recommend for sure SUV (4 wheel drive preferable) or trucks. Definitely no RV's, trailers, or campers.
Chuck is an AMAZING host. He will make sure that you have a great experience from booking to departure.
It is a truly special place. We also found the town of Ellijay charming and interesting in case you want to do exploring.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in this north Georgia Mountain Cabin. Chuck was an amazing host. That cabin is spacious, very nicely appointed, clean and beautifully maintained. Chuck has everything you need for outdoor fun and activities. We made some amazing memories and will definitely be back.
This was a great property and an amazing host. We enjoyed hiking on the private trails, playing in the creek and lake, countless campfires and a trip into town for some antiques and ice cream.
You really could just pack a bag and show up to this property. The towels were plush, there were plenty of (high quality) toiletries and even a bottle of wine waiting for us. The hosts really went above and beyond to make you feel 'at home'. They offered the use of a kayak, canoe and a little boat with a motor -- and even brought over worms for fishing!
The only caution I would give - the road in is gravel and at times steep. While the property overlooks the lake, it is not directly ON the lake. This means you have to walk down the steep, gravel road to reach it. Not a big deal for the most part, especially because Chuck allowed us to use his jeep (which was SO much fun), just something to consider if bringing smaller children or elderly.
Overall, this was a great spot for us to disconnect and play in nature for a week!
We recently stayed at this property and absolutely loved it. The house sits by itself on top of a hill overlooking a private lake. The hosts were fantastic, offering just about everything you need for the stay, to include use of boats, 5G internet, firewood, and much more. We highly recommend this property and hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Chuck’s place is absolutely awesome. If you want to get away from the world enjoy campfires solitude and some private fishing this getaway is your place. Ask Chuck about his ATV it will give you access to a running river filled with trout and recognized by fisherman around the world. They have every amenity you need. The Internet is good but not great. But that’s not why you’re there. You’re there for the solitude and you enjoy the outdoors. Five out of five stars. Highly recommend.
