"The Sailfish" - 2nd row to the ocean available in 2025, book now!
The Sailfish - Beautiful Emerald Isle, NC;
The Sailfish is a private beach house for rent in Emerald Isle, NC, at the beginning of the Crystal Shores of the NC Outer Banks. The beaches on Emerald Isle are gorgeous white sand, great for swimming and fishing. No hotels or commercial activity on the beach makes this an unspoiled, family-oriented place to enjoy the beach. We rent the Sailfish only to family groups of up to 14 persons. Our house sits on the 2nd row, right across the street from beachfront. Walk down our walkway and cross the small street to the public beach access right in front of the house. If you want to go clamming in the sound, just walk down our driveway and cross the street in the other direction, to reach the sound. The Sailfish is fully air conditioned, has two floors, ocean views from each floor, and 7 comfortable bedrooms. Two rooms dedicated to play: the upstairs sunroom with game tables, and the downstairs rec room with ping pong table. Our parents built this lovely large space so that our family could vacation together. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we still do! Upstairs, there are 4 bedrooms and two full baths that interconnect between bedrooms. Two ocean-view bedrooms have 1 queen bed each. Two other bedrooms each have 2 double beds. The large, airy living room has a vaulted ceiling and ceiling fans. Large dining table with seating up to 12 persons. Fully equipped kitchen. Spacious sunroom with two tables, perfect for games, working remotely, or extra seating for dining. We keep an assortment of games, puzzles and books in the sunroom, available for guests to enjoy. Or you can sit on the deck/balcony on the upper floor with a cool drink after a day at the beach. Downstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. One queen bedroom has ocean view, one bedroom with double bed and desk set-up that is great for working remotely, and one bedroom with 2 twin beds. Also downstairs is our rec room, with full size ping pong table, and sitting area with cable tv. Kitchenette downstairs as well, with full size refrigerator/ freezer (great to have with a large family!), microwave and small dishwasher. There is plenty of parking for your family in our large gravel parking area behind the house! For more photos and the contract link, see our website:

Great place to stay! Kitchen is well stocked with clean pots and pans. Very clean house with room and beds for everyone in our group. Nice walk to the beach!
Excellent place for family vacation. Plenty of room and accommodated our group of 4 couples and 6 teenage kids very well. Nothing fancy but super clean and a perfect weekly rental with everything we needed at a reasonable price. Great location with great management.

We had a great trip to the Sailfish. The house was comfortable with lots of room to spread out. Our first day we had a minor problem with the air conditioning and the property managers were quick to respond and take care of the problem. Short walk to the beach. Great place to stay!
We had a wonderful week. Our children grew up coming to Emerald Isle every summer for the 4th of July and we are so happy for them to now bring their children to experience this beautiful beach. The Sailfish was perfect for our growing family and we can’t wait to return next summer.
The house is older but clean and a perfect layout close to the beach. There is plenty of room for a pool which would have been nice or at least usable outdoor space. The rental agent was very easy to work with. All in all it is a nice vacation home for our family of 12 and we had a great time but it went by too fast.
We enjoyed another relaxing week at “The Sailfish.” With seven bedrooms, there is plenty of room for our big family. We love how much space there is for our littles to play. We can’t wait to come back next year!
The Sailfish was a great location for our family vacation! Plenty of space for eveyone - to sleep and spread out. The house had all the cooking utensils needed, and we appreciated having the second refrigerator on the lower level. Location was also great - directly across from the beach public access made getting to and from the water really easy. Thanks for a great week!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sailfish! We were an extended family, with some staying the whole week and some for shorter stays. We loved the size of the house, giving space to get together and to get away from one another!
The home was as advertised. It was a large home with seven bedrooms, multiple common areas, and a large parking area. There were views of the beach from the upper level. It was an easy walk along boardwalks (with some stairs for full disclosure) to the ocean. It was a short drive to the grocery store, the restaurant and souvenir shops we utilized, and the aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. The house was well-stocked with linens, kitchen gear, games, and beach chairs. It provided an excellent base for our family vacation.
Tons of stuff to do at the house, everyone loved the ping pong tables and the pool noodles were well used. Almost lived on the deck. What a great place to spend the evening
It fit our family perfectly. There was plenty for everyone to do whatever they wanted. It was close to the beach. Nice views- plenty of chairs on the deck. The family enjoyed playing ping pong. We had a great time!
This property is exactly what is advertised. Nice large house for extended family. We had our grown 5 grown kids and 4 grandkids and there was plenty of room. Great view of the ocean from the upstairs back porch and nice clean house with everything needed. Older kids enjoyed the ping pong table as well! Highly recommend and hoping to come stay again!
We booked this at the last minute. We prefer oceanfront, but they were all taken. Access to the beach could not have been more convenient. Spacious house. The family with small children stayed on the bottom floor, with the grandparents and family with older children on the main floor. Highly recommend!
This is a well-maintained property. It's obvious that the owners are hands-on and care. Seven bedroom houses are hard to find without paying an arm and a leg. Also, there were beach chairs and toys, bicycles, board games, even a ping pong table. The view from the balcony was fantastic and the walk to the beach was short. I can't afford Emerald Isle every year, but the next time I can, I'll look for this house again.
We found this to be exactly what we were looking for in a beach house for our extended family (made of babies, toddlers, kids, teens, and adults) to stay. This house caught my attention because of the number of rooms/beds and large dining table, but the variety of common areas, 2 kitchens, and nearby beach access made this the BEST possible house for us. The three rooms on the main floor provided a great space to put kids to bed while others stayed up-it’s amazingly sound proof (bring a baby monitor). The game room upstairs was a nice getaway space during Sunday naps. The June water was perfect, and I can imagine coming to stay here many more times!
We really loved staying at the Sailfish! Such a great property, and everything possible was provided. The only complaint we had was that there were no beach towels - not a huge problem, but if we're paying $225 for linens and towels, the assumption is that beach towels are included in that. The house is much more spacious than the pictures show- really well laid out, and the kids enjoyed having the ping pong table and lower area to hang out in.
TLDR- amazing house, bring beach towels.

House needs TLC
August 1-8--The house needs a through cleaning and purging of broken and outdated kitchen items. Top floor bedrooms were the nicest. Furniture and kitchen need many improvements. Management seems nice enough. Vacuums were all a mess some held together with tape not been cleaned out. Used rubber bands to hold one together. Could have called but looked like more of a replacement issue. Not really far to the beach but some killer high steps for small children or anyone with a leg problem.
The good part was plenty of beds, great washer and dryer, children's toys of all kinds and a wonderful family to share the week with. House was very sturdy and sound during the hurricane winds and rain one night.
Owner was great to communicate with. Property was clean and well maintained. Convenient location and shirt walk to the beach. Beach access right across the street. We will probably book next summer if we go.
Wonderful stay for myself, my family, and my brothers' families. The kids had a blast! The pictures are accurate, and the value much better than many other places on Emerald Isle. For future visitors, I recommend contacting Gail, who was very responsive, instead of Ken or using Vrbo messages. One piece of constructive criticism - the lockboxes for the keys seemed rusted or otherwise very difficult to open even with the correct passcode. I recommend replacing them with newer models. Aside from those minor hiccups, the stay was truly a memorable family reunion, with plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the game room well-stocked with activities for families.
Huge property in a great location for the beach, biking, and bay. We loved this place. It’s huge, private and just steps to the beach.

Lots of space
This house was a great size for the group we had. We did not even need all of the bedrooms. It was clean and felt somewhat secluded. There is a lot of stuff in the kitchen to use and that was nice. The closets downstairs are completely packed with things and the one in the bedroom I used was not usable to me due to the amount of seemingly unnecessary stuff packed into it. It seems like the owners have kept everything over the years and stuck it all in the closets. The downstairs bathrooms had the world’s tiniest showers. I’m talking cruise ship size. We are not small people but anyone would have trouble in those showers.
The amount of stairs to get to the beach should have been disclosed in the listing. It was difficult to carry all of our things and navigate the steep steps. The steps of the beach access are super steep.
We had a fun time in Emerald Isle and the house was fine aside from the things I already mentioned. The property manager was awesome and the check in process was very easy.
Our large family enjoyed our stay at the sail fish. The seven bedrooms gave us the space we needed. The linens were very nice for a rental. The house was clean. The kitchen is a little outdated but the stove was very nice. The water was warm and the beach is beautiful. The sevent two steps is a challenge for older people. It
