Charming & Private Delaware Riverfront Home near Callicoon NY

Within 15 miles of charming Callicoon on the Delaware sits this totally private, tastefully furnished, renovated home with a fireplace/insert in the living room, a modern kitchen and a dining area with gorgeous river views! Windows provide great natural light and river views from porches and windows.

There are three bedrooms, one with a king size bed and two with a queen size bed each, plus a fourth room which owners now use as a TV/reading room with a comfortable day bed. Two full baths and a gorgeous outdoor patio/deck under great shade trees round out the picture.

Enjoy the Delaware River at your door step to swim, kayak, or fish. Don't forget to pack your life jackets for river activities. We do not provide boats or any other water apparatus, and recreation is at your own risk. There is a river outfitter in Hancock where you can rent kayaks and canoes.

A small convenience store is just a few miles away, and a short drive will take you to either Callicoon or Hancock for shopping, restaurants, library and movie theaters.

*****We offer a 10% discount if you stay for 7 nights. While we do not want your dog to have to go to a kennel and encourage you to bring the pup along, cleaning the house requires more time. The cleaning fee increases by $30.*****

Visit the Callicoon Farmer's Market year-round on Sundays, 11-2pm at Callicoon Creek Park and stock up on fresh produce, fruits, breads, pastries, and cheeses. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the original site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival is just a 30 minute drive away. Or play a round of golf at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon or at the French Woods Golf Course less than a mile away on Route 97. Take a ride on The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, which is Route 97, as it extends from Hancock to Port Jervis, and visit the Roebling Bridge and other historic places and museums along the way. Or spend an afternoon with a river guide and learn how to fly fish. There are nice hiking opportunities nearby. Get ready for the most striking views of the Delaware River Valley from famous Jensen's Ledges.

Summer camps such as French Woods Camp, IHC Camp, Camp Equinunk, Camp Blue Ridge, Tyler Hill Camp and others in northern Wayne County, are all within 5-10 miles or less, as is the lovely wedding venue, Handsome Hollow, on quaint Delaware Route 28 outside of Fishs Eddy, NY.

Lovely escape

Really a spectacular place to stay, beautiful and peaceful, comfortable and well-maintained. Hosts very responsive, even stopped by with a delicious apple pie and new cords for the internet! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Cottage on the Delaware

Photos are somewhat deceiving- house is more “worn out” than I expected. Owner Joe was great, helpful, very gracious bring us breakfast treats and credit at local bakery. Location on the Delaware is spectacular !!!

Scenic Location

River retreat

Five adults and one blind dog had a great time swimming and tubing in the river. The shady porch with rocking chairs and picnic table overlooking the water was lovely. Hosts were responsive and answered all our questions, and we enjoyed the delicious treats they provided.

Peaceful Retreat

We had a wonderful stay on the Delaware River. The home is lovely and the view of the river is breathtaking. We spent our days watching deer, geese and bald eagles. I am looking forward to returning soon.

Wonderful fall vacation spot

This property was exactly as described and pictured, actually even better. My family and I immediately felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed the amazing view and surroundings. Upper Delaware River House.

This is the 5th year in a row that we stayed at Joe’s River house. We love it and will continue coming as long as time will allow. We love the home and deck view! The bedrooms are very comfortable and the living room ambiance (and view) is spectacular!

Long Weekend Getaway

River Stay

This was our second time staying as a group of fly fisherman and once again it was excellent. Great view of the river, plenty of room for the boat and just above Buckingham boat launch. Joe and Rosie are very responsive and located nearby if anything is needed. We’ve stayed in a number of river rentals up and down the East Coast from Vermont to North Carolina and this house and hosts rank among the very best.

The RIVER is wonderful!

If you love nature... this is the place for you... got in the river eveyday - paddle board, kayak, just swimming - water is very shallow by the house - so it was so easy to just get in. Everyday we were immersed in nature... bald eagles everywhere/ beavers/fawns..always something to see... the best was watching the fog lift off the water and over teh mountain every morning - really a great getaway!

Peaceful and relaxing stay at Joe's Cottage

The property is as advertised and we had a wonderful stay. it's very peaceful and relaxing, and the river views are unmatched. There was plenty of firewood left for us to use and we had many cozy nights by the fire. Joe was nice enough to even drop off some rice pudding, bread and gnocci for us. We ended up having the gnocci for dinner that night and it was delicious. We all absolutely loved our stay and would re-book again in the future!

Well equipped, clean cabin with amazing river views and access.

My family including a few fly fishers had a great time at the cabin and on the river. Rosie, who handled the listing, was very responsive. She answered my questions regarding recommendations on places to eat as well as places to shop for groceries. Overall, it was a great place to make memories for me, my boys and my cousin from the Midwest.

Cozy and relaxing

I just finished a week long stay at Joes River Cottage and it was everything I expected! The house is clean, cozy and idyllic. Joe had everything stocked for me and my family, and even brought more firewood when we needed it, alone with asking us if we needed anything at the food store! If you are looking to get away to somewhere quiet, GO HERE! I know I will be going back again!

Great Getaway

The views and nature made the stay. We watched bald eagles fishing in the river daily. The otters came out at night and were a joy to watch. We brought our dogs which really enjoyed the fenced in area to run around and nap on the deck. The house was clean and had everything you needed. The only thing I regret is not bringing our binoculars and fishing waders.
