About this property

Castle, Swimming Pool, Stars, Olive Trees, Bikes, Winery Route, Relax, Evora

Historic agritourism property in Estremoz
Welcome to my favorite place on earth.

The property has 2 houses, fully autonomous and independent.
Casas de Santa Rita is a rural retreat located in the wine region, in the heart of Alentejo (the most beautiful non mainstream region of Portugal), in the beautiful historic village of Evoramonte, 150 km from Lisbon, 25 km from Evora and 15 km from Estremoz.

In our homes (fully autonomous and independent) it is possible to disconnect from the busy days and return to feel the tranquility and the nature. We take the comfort of our guests very seriously, and for that reason our accommodation units (rooms and houses) are equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Outside, in addition to the garden, we have a pool overlooking an olive grove and mountains and the world's most starry sky.

Ideal for serious rest, read the books you´ve had not time, hear the birds, take a swim and watch the stars while you drink a bottle of wine and stare to a beautiful sunset. The landscape is a combination of olive and cork trees, and we have a plantation of goji berries.

5/5 Excellent

A great view and quiet place to be!
Casa Santa Rita is a very nice place to spend your holiday! Beautiful surrounding and an amazing view at the castle of Evoramonte! We have spend our holiday here with our 2 girls (2, 6 years old) for the youngest one there was a babybed available! Miguel is also avery nice host and will help you where he can. In the future you can hire a another very nice house at the property. You will share the pool then, but it is big enough! We hope we will come back one day and hire that new place. We really recommend it!!! Fam Blom-Simons, the Netherlands.

Absolutely Heavenly
A perfect place to relax, cool off and visit the surrounding sights. The House was beautiful in every way. Great style, comfortable and the stars! I have never seen so many. To have a leisurely coffee under the plant trellis, go out and explore the fantastic local medieval castle (no tourists) which can be seen from the house and pool. A comfortable distance to Estremoz and Evora's city sights and grab a lunch before heading back for a dip in the pool and enjoy some wine/port to wait for the emerging stars to appear. Quiet, peaceful, perfect. Thank you Miguel for all of your help and assistance. The honor bar by the pool was a great touch, we got a little low on wine and were able to purchase a bottle from your pool refrigerator instead of driving out to get more. Very thoughtful. Your new house is very beautiful as well, can't wait to return to try it out! Thank you and good luck to you, Diane & Bob Fitzsimmons

4/5 Good

rustic villa in the Alentejo
We (2 senior couples ) spent 5 nights at this well equipped property near Evoras. Our host was charming and helpful. There were a few minor drawbacks. The toilet in the master suite was abutting the vanity making it a challenge to actually use it but fortunately the third bathroom by the pool was a good alternative. The second bedroom was equipped with a 3/4 bed. Be sure the second couple are on very intimate terms. The third bedroom bunkbeds were suitable for kids. The pool was perfect for us. We could have spent the entire time at poolside. Overall excellent value. It was a good base for exploration of the area.

A fabulous setting , great food, and the best people
We arrived on Jan 4 for 3 month stay and were met by Miguel's father. His welcome was so warm and friendly, we felt at home immediately. The house exceeded our expectations. We have rented homes in several countries, but here we found almost everything you could think of at our disposal. The dishes provided were very nice and plentiful. Various appliances including a coffee grinder, juicer, toaster, coffee machine, single cup coffee machine, hot water heater, etc. were available. Sra Antonia kept the house and our clothes clean and was delightful. Although we arrived in winter, the house was warm and the bedding was wonderful. Miguel even provided rain suits for our use. My sister and I used them on a few rainy days. The house is set up well for two couples and two singles or two children (we had my sister and 2 friends stay with us for part of our time). We also never had a problem with hot water or water pressure. You could look out the windows or step out the doors and be greeted by the castle just above us. Next door, the farmer had three ewes, which all had lambs while we were there. We met new lambs and baby goats pretty much where ever we went and were highly amused by their antics. The house is well situated and a short drive to Estremoz or Evora for groceries. A small grocery in the village also provides much of what you need on a daily basis. We found the Café O Emigrante in the village a wonderful place for meals. Iana speaks English, French, Spanish, and probably a few others, which makes ordering easier. We recommend taking time to explore the walled city and wander through its castle. The views alone are worth the trouble. Vila Vicosa, Elvas, Marvao, Monsaraz, Evora, Merida, Montemor-o-novo are just a few places we would recommend seeing as well as the antas and caves. We chose this spot as our center for explorations and found it to be a marvelous base. You are only 60 km from the Spanish border, you are close to a toll road and there are several other roads leading in every direction you will want to go. There are several roads/paths to walk around the house and village and Miguel also provided us with a link to a site "Alentejo a Pie" for walks/hikes throughout the region. We tried a few and really enjoyed ourselves. We left on March 25. We were sad to leave this beautiful place with its warm people, great food, and fabulous areas to explore. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this home.
