About this property

The Vault / Historical 1800s Bank 7min Off I-64. Downtown Main street

  • Marble floors an walls to the original vault, this place is in the heart of downtown Fairfield il. Walking distance to all your local shops. I've added a speakeasy in the vault to replicate the 1920 era. With the luxury of today. This is one of my homes I renovated , to let others enjoy and overnight with fun , instead of a normal hotel stay. Has King & Queen size beds 1 roll out an a couch. Parking is out front, on the side an also a gravel lot across the street for extra . This is downtown next to restaurants, shopping and near by park. Has a AC unit and controls, with radiant heater through out the building. The bathroom is small due to they didn't build buildings with bathrooms at the time of the build. It was a entrance to the cellar.

Wash any dishes used throw 2ay trash in trash cans south of the building in the alley. . No cleaning fee so please clean up afterwards.
No food or drinks on bumper pool table. Don't remove balls they leave marks on the marble floor. No pets if caught $150 additional fee
Do not move the furniture this out place we live in in town. We like the way it is.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rules

No events nor parties, Please put furniture back in designated spots if moved. No loud music , trash goes in the alley north of the building.
Please clean up afterwards, it helps me an cost for you. If pets are detected a charge $150will be added to your bill. Please throw away used soap.
No smoking anywhere inside the building, close outside doors .No parties No hanging out in stair well.

Loved this place

Extremely spacious and the little details were so amazing to see. The bedsheets were the best I have ever slept on and so refreshing after a long day of driving! We had the fall fair outside but loved the atmosphere and vibe it gave us and it was quiet overnight. Hosts were amazing with communication. Would gladly stay here again and highly recommend.

Eclipse stay

Unique and historical spot with a great pizza and coffee shop on the same block. The property is situated on main st which provides excellent access but does mean some road and traffic noise that could be difficult for a light sleeper.

A little something different

We stayed two nights. King and queen bed were comfy. Bathroom is small but totally adequate. Kitchen is ok, fridge is small, needs a few baking items. Location is very good. Kids loved the arcade games and bumper pool.Definitely unique and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Unique and terrific!

Wonderful place with a unique history. The old vault and safe are very cool We also discovered the game of bumper pool- how have I not played this before? We had a relaxing time away. Fairfield is a nice little town with lots of charming small businesses. We very much enjoyed it. Thank you!

This is a MUST stay when in Fairfield, Illinois! If you are interested in history and staying in a very unique place “The Vault” is the place to stay. It was so CLEAN and had everything we needed. Thank you for your vision and creativity in making this a vacation rental! We shall return!

Weekend visit

We were in Fairfield for the weekend to attend 2 graduations and a wedding. The rental was spacious and comfortable. The location is walking distance to a coffee shop and restaurants.

My wife and I stayed at the Vault for a family wedding in the area. This is a great place for a 1-2 night stay with unique elements of local history at an affordable rate. Know that there are tenants/guests above and that it is at an intersection corner so there will be someoutside noise. We enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Really unique property, it was an old bank, complete with a vault and some old school arcade games, but repurposed nicely. It was a cool spot for our family visit

The pics & description doesn't do this place justice! It had arcade games, bumper pool, comfy beds & it was a rwally cool place to just look at the history, vault etc. Walkable to restaurants & shops. Perfect spot for a getaway!

Very, very interesting stay. We loved it!

This was not your ordinary vrbo. It was unique, exciting, interesting, with a few surprises, and comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. Even though they were in a large high sealing room, at what I presume was the bank lobby, it was very quiet for sleeping. And main street is just a few feet out the front door. Now some may ask, would I rent it again? Our answer would be heck yes. We plan to again next year at this time. And just maybe once more in between. My only complaint is a friend I brought with me, beat me at the bumper pool table there, three times. But I suppose I can't really blame that on the owners. Can I?
