After one stay, you’ll never want to come down from this High Horse!

Inside, warm wood floors and Native American-inspired décor create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The open-concept living area features a beautiful wood-burning fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The master suite includes a king bed and a luxurious jetted tub, while two additional bedrooms each offer queen beds and private baths. A convenient half bath adds extra comfort for guests.

The fully equipped kitchen boasts granite countertops and opens into a bright dining area surrounded by windows that frame the beautiful mountain scenery. Wi-Fi and satellite TV ensure modern convenience, even in your peaceful retreat.

Located within Leatherwood Mountains Resort, you’ll enjoy access to horseback riding, tennis, fishing, tubing, hiking trails, and on-site dining—all just minutes away. Outside, a fenced backyard with rustic split-rail fencing and mesh enclosure offers the perfect space for your four-legged companions.

• Wood burning fireplaces will be supplied with firewood. Guests are encouraged to bring their own fire-starting material (firebricks or fat wood).

This home is located in the 4000 acre, Leatherwood Mountain Resort in Ferguson, NC. Our guests are invited to enjoy our Horseback Riding program where you can experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains pristine wilderness by Horseback (reservation required). You will have access to miles of hiking trails, mountain streams, stocked fishing pond, community swimming pool, playground and tennis courts, creek tubing (seasonal), on-site restaurant with active live music & event calendar (guest advised to check hours when planning meals).

Leatherwood Mountains has surveillance or recording devices on the property. Our neighborhood is very safe and our property very secluded. For added peace of mind, we have security cameras by the gated entrance and common areas. Individual properties may also have cameras on the EXTERIOR of homes. Please be assured they are not directed at private areas, hot tub porches etc.

Perfect Oasis

Our group of four came in for MerleFest and found this property to be the perfect place to recharge each night and morning. The stunning views and well-equipped home made it one of the best rentals we've ever experienced. While there’s a brief moment of hesitation with the narrow road and driveway, the wide, sweeping views and beautifully appointed home quickly dissolve any concerns. We absolutely loved this place! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hold Your Horses to anyone looking for a peaceful and unforgettable getaway.

Breathtaking is the best way to describe this property !

From the entrance into the Leatherwood Resort, Check In, Grounds, All Paved Roads, to our beautiful cabin ( Hold your Horses ) was outstanding !!! We did not leave the resort the entire weekend. It was so relaxing sitting on the deck looking at the 180 degree breathtaking views. The restaurant and live music was great as well ! Spectacular place that we will be sure to return to.

Perfect Getaway

This house was perfect for a long weekend. It is 40 minutes from most other towns, but that was perfect for us to take a day trip to Boone, or have dinner in Blowing Rock. The sunset is magnificent from this property. Highly recommend and looking forward to returning.

Weekend getaway

Awesome house, back by it self. Wonderful views, rode through the country. Went to Boone for lunch and to walk around. Nice to get away for a weekend and relax.

Great piece of North Carolina! Rental was super comfortable and had everything as expected. The Hot Tub is new and great working order. Morning coffee watching sunrise to after wine and sunset, you can't miss a thing!

Great Family Experience

Our stay at Hold Your Horses was amazing. The view can't be beat. We watched the sunset in the hot tub and the sunrise on some of the most comfortable rocking chairs. Property was exactly as described. Hot tub worked, wi-fi was great, satellite tv for football, kitchen cooked up some great meals and they even had plenty of firewood available. Abby answered several questions I had very quickly. We can't to go back.

Hold Your Horses incredible stay!

Incredible vistas, hidden location, absolute solitude, inside the house is a Western Art Museum, everything was incredible. The drive to the house is interesting the first time, limited GPS, and a narrow but short drive off the main road. In top of all North Carolina. Bring your own food as you will not want to leave the house! Nor is there any real need. Horses nearby, saw turkeys, deer, rabbits, etc. And a Cardinal that pecks on his reflection in the downstairs window at 0615. Wonderful wake up call! Abbie the host was superb. Ladies at Leatherwood checkin and office all very helpful also. Restaurant in summer only on weekends. We loved the week and the view from hot tub amazing.

Amazing View and great house

This property was as follows: - VERY clean (and I'm picky) -AMAZING VIEWS - pictures do not do it justice - Private and quiet - management company was informative and responsive Few notes: - the hot tub in a previous review was out of commission and unfortunately, it also was not working during our stay. The managment company had informed us in advance that it might not be fixed. A repair person did come to work on it but unfortunately, it gave up the ghost. We did receive a small refund for the inconvience. - The house is 1.5 miles basically straight up a mountain, so be ready. The driveway into the actual house is about 1/4 mile of narrow pavement with a ravine on one side. It's safe to drive but just be careful. - this area is remote- a lovely setting but it's 1/2 hr to Wilkesboro and 45 minutes to Blowing Rock or Boone, so you can't run out and get pizza. Bring what you need for the most part. The country roads are twisty so be careful. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful home with a wonderful view, this is just the ticket.

For fun I counted and estimated the time it would take to use all the coffee filters = 6 1/2 years. I left my 10 month contribution unopened as many had before me. Staff were wonderful and friendly.
