Appreciate the beauty of nature when you go on a countryside walk to this stunning waterfall in area that’s great for a picnic in warmer weather.

Go on a short and gentle hike to Fletcher Falls. This is a picturesque cascade on the shores of Kootenay Lake where the water drops from a height of about 50 feet (15 meters) into a small pool. Nearby are picnic tables and a campsite.

After arriving at the car park follow the short trail through the woods to the falls. The downhill walk will only take you a few minutes but be mindful that the ground can occasionally be slippery because of the spray from the falls. Also be careful of exposed tree roots that provide additional trip hazards. As you get closer to the waterfall stop for photo opportunities and to take in the view of the gushing water and surrounding greenery.

Continue your stroll to reach the lakeshore and beach where there are picnic tables, fire pits and a toilet. Bring a swimsuit with you and enjoy a dip in the lake's waters. Then relax with some refreshments on the lakeshore. Consider staying overnight in the campsite. You will need to bring a tent and sleeping bags with you. Pitch it near the waterfront and wake up to the gorgeous scenery.

When it’s time to leave just retrace your footsteps back up the path. As this is a self-contained site visitors are requested not to leave anything behind, especially rubbish.

Another way to get to see the falls is to arrive by canoe, kayak or sailing boat. Rent one from local operators who also have paddleboards and windsurfing boards. Another popular activity on the lake is fishing. If you’re a keen angler you will need to purchase a license beforehand. There are 1-day, 8-day and annual licenses.

If you are coming to Fletcher Falls by road, you can park for free in the lot at the start of the trail. The natural attraction is approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers) south of the lakeside village of Kaslo.
