With 17 self-contained lodges ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, guests can enjoy lake or bushland views while catering for themselves in fully equipped kitchens. Just 15 minutes from Paynesville and 20 minutes from Bairnsdale, this peaceful haven is perfect for nature lovers, complete with a resident mob of friendly kangaroos.

    Our two-bedroom lodges offer a peaceful family escape with lake views, a private deck with a BBQ, and modern comforts, including a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, and cozy fireplace. Set in a quiet bushland setting, you can spot parrots, kangaroos, koalas, and echidnas, with complimentary food provided for bird and kangaroo feeding. Enjoy easy access to resort amenities like the pool, heated outdoor spa, free bikes, and activities such as kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and nature trails.

Get away to nature

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Waterfront Retreat is a great spot to relax and indulge in nature. Our villa (Tanjil) had an excellent vista looking past bush and grass to the lakes with friendly kangaroos visiting in the morning and evening.The villa itself is well suited to a family with 2 bedrooms sleeping 5, although there is only one bathroom. It has just about all you need with cooktop, BBQ, microwave (incl convection), toaster, coffee pod machine, and plenty of utensils, etc. The retreat includes a swimming pool, hot tub, bikes, kayaks, canoes, etc at no additional charge. When we stayed in early January there were no issues accessing these eg no one was using them at the time we used them.Wifi was good but limited mobile signal.Although you feel like you’re getting away from it all, it’s only 20 minutes to Paynesville and Bairnsdale. Once in Paynesville, I recommend walking for free onto the ferry to visit Raymond Island for a walk and koala spotting - we saw lots of them!
