Secluded 1860 Stone House recently remodeled on the Upper Iowa River by Bluffton
8/10 Good
"it was very interesting staying here. our first thought was that we should hold a se'ance, and by no means was it scarey to stay in, just sort of the vibe when first arriving and entering the home, would live to dig into the history .. i would have preferred some type of window covering ( no curtains/shades, except for the bathrm window) on the windows. There was also the discovery of no inside door handle on one of the bdrm doors, which i thought to be a hazard as the door opened in and could not be opened from inside if shut completely. and also a air conditioning unit, that stated not to be plugged in, as it would blow a fuse, my thought would be to just remove it. The house was very clean, beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked. unfortunately, we didn't have alot of time to check out the surrounding property, but lots of pretty flowers and natural Prairie grasses around the home. very buggy outside , dont forget bug spray. very close to canoe/kayak launching. I would definitely stay again."
The "Shouse"- Take the road less traveled- for fun & relaxation in the country
10/10 Excellent
"Thank you for being such a fabulous host. The Shouse was just what we needed. We stayed the weekend while we moved our son for college. The peace and quiet was amazing. The kitchen was perfect to whip up a quick breakfast before we headed out for the day. Huge selection of flavored coffee. I don’t know what I loved more the huge retro couch (the chaise side was my favorite) then waterfall shower or the fireflies. We will definitely be back!"
Wild Rose Road Cabin <br>2595 Wild Rose Road Fort Atkinson Ia
10/10 Excellent
"We were looking for a place to host a family gathering that could comfortably accommodate a larger group, and Wild Rose Cabin in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, was a wonderful surprise. Our trip had two main priorities, and the property matched the VRBO description and photos perfectly. It was quiet, relaxing, and gave our family and friends a great place to spend time together. We gathered in the kitchen for coffee and conversation, the bedrooms were spacious, and the half bath in the upstairs loft worked well for our nephews. When an air-conditioning issue came up, the hosts resolved it right away. They also allowed us to host a family dinner with cousins we had not seen in more than 20 years, and everyone was impressed by how beautiful the property was. A big thank-you to the hosts from the Byram/Abbott family."
Country setting 2-3 miles from the River, Luther College and downtown Decorah
10/10 Excellent
"Very roomy living and dining area with lots of windows of the view of the countryside. Kitchen was on the smaller side, but well equipped and everything easy to find. We liked being in the country with easy access to town."
"The greenhouse was a quaint, perfect little getaway for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary. The hosts thought of everything we could need for our stay, and even went out of their way to help me surprise my husband with a bottle of wine. They even provide some handy snacks for purchase if needed. A fierce hail storm rolled through during our stay, and that little greenhouse was able to withstand the storm! The included air conditioner worked well to keep the greenhouse comfortable during our entire stay. The futon bed was a good size for us (5'6" & 5'9") but if you're much taller then that, you may want to use the included air mattress. We barely fit in the sleeping space, but it added to the fun of staying in the greenhouse :) It was really cool to look out into the rock quarry, and to hear all of the sounds of nature surrounding us. Even though the greenhouse is on a lived on property, we felt secluded in our own private area. We greatly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to spending future anniversaries there again!"
