Lagniappe Lodge -18 acres of amazing views and 2 waterfalls, with Internet!!
Welcome to the Lagniappe Lodge – our own hidden slice of tranquil mountain life. We named our place the Lagniappe Lodge because the word “Lagniappe” is a Cajun word (pronounced lan-‘yap) that means “a little something extra” and that is exactly what this place is – full of extra features and surprises.
If you are looking to stay at a place that is unique - look no further. The Lagniappe Lodge is completely off the grid. All of our power is solar-generated and all of the water comes from an on-site well. We now have high-speed Internet through Starlink, so you can stay connected while enjoying the isolation and tranquility of the property, while unwinding from the distractions of today’s busy life. We also have a back-up generator to ensure there is always adequate power to the cabin.
The Lagniappe Lodge is a 3,000 sq foot, 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom cabin with a spacious loft and can sleep 8 guests comfortably. The entire cabin consists of an open floor plan with multiple sitting areas to relax and visit. The cabin is filled with special architectural features, including: - Vaulted all-wood ceilings - Reclaimed wooden beams throughout the house, sourced from the original Atlantic City boardwalk - Floor to ceiling windows offer a magnificent view of the canyon, through reclaimed hand-blown glass windows sourced from one of the oldest courthouses in Tennessee - Two reclaimed stained glass windows, sourced from a church in Pennsylvania and England - Stone wall built with rocks collected from the property - Large natural rock face mantle in the den - there is literally the side of the mountain in the living room - Huge wrap-around deck with 1000 sq ft of space to enjoy the outdoors - Outdoor fireplace
The property is 18 acres of beautiful forest and rock formations, situated on the side of a canyon that overlooks Johnnie's Creek. There are two waterfalls on the property, the largest of which is visible from the deck and side patio. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting outside and listening to the sound of the waterfall. You are more than welcome to explore and hike throughout our property to fully enjoy it.
Master Bedroom: - Sleeps 2 - Queen bed - Private bathroom with shower and slipper tub
Guest Bedroom: - Sleeps 2 - Full bed
Loft: - Sleeps 4 - Two twin beds - Daybed with trundle bed
The property is equipped with security cameras to monitor the outside of the property. The cameras are positioned on the outside of the property, only where there are external doors. There are no cameras or recording devices anywhere inside of the cabin. The cameras were placed intentionally to afford guests maximum privacy on the large covered patio and wrap-around deck.

This property is beautiful! It is nestled away in the trees at the top of a canyon within the northern Alabama mountains. The house has large windows all along the back of the house, pulling nature inside. Our family spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at Lagniappe Lodge property and would recommend this location to anyone who loves beautiful, unique venues and loves the outdoors and nature at your doorstep. For folks, like our family who like to do a little shopping on vacations, Fort Payne was just a short scenic drive away.
Our stay was wonderful! The uniqueness of the cabin was amazing. The openness of the main floor, the windows, and the deck, was exhilarating! We were all able to enjoy one another and not feel as if we were on top of each other!
The view was breathtaking! We loved every minute of our stay! We will definitely be back and stay a bit longer the next time!
Property was beautiful, peaceful & serene, home clean and so well-equipped. Decorated perfectly. Waterfall was breathtaking, and staying in a solar-powered home was so cool! It rained our entire stay and we still had full power! Wonderful, looking forward to many return trips! Thank you, thank you!!
This cabin is just fantastic! It's more of a lodge than a cabin, the layout and design are beautiful. Not to mention the picturesque view out of the huge glass windows in the main room. The kids loved exploring the woods and creeks and the whole family loved the huge porch and fire pits in the mornings/evenings. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. You almost forget that your totally off the grid, literally. I highly recommend for anyone looking to get away, enjoy a few beverages with sounds of nature while doing some exploring in the area during the day.
If you are looking to go somewhere for some much needed R & R, Lagniappe Lodge is what the doctor ordered. The accommodations and the property are fantastic. It rained the evening we arrived and you could hear the waterfall across the property. This is very relaxing. We also got to witness the “indoor” waterfall. The use of reclaimed items in the structure and decorations of the lodge give it a nice touch. Adam was very responsive to our questions. I would definitely recommend driving a truck or SUV since there is a steep grade on the exit side of the driveway. All in all we could not have asked for a better experience. It is on our list to revisit. Thanks Adam
Wow! An awesome cabin with an amazing view in March! The view may be blocked during the summer due to tree leaves. The house is pretty much on the top of a cliff. It was very well stocked. The outdoor fireplace was perfect and the kids loved the loft with the tv. They also ran around the cabin outside like little monkeys. We all really enjoyed relaxing with no interruptions from the outside world. Thanks for sharing your cozy retreat.

I wanted a relaxing vacation and the opportunity to reconnect with my family. The Lagniappe Lodge provided that and more. With having the waterfall so close to the cabin you can feel the stress melt away as soon as you arrive. The location was great, providing the seclusion we wanted, but still close enough to civilization to plan daily activities. We were able to visit local hikes, shops, and restaurants and get back to the lodge in time to have our evenings together as a family. The deck view of the waterfall provided the perfect setting for reading with the sound of the water providing relaxing background noise. My kids loved exploring the property and my wife and I loved watching them play together from the deck. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and inviting. We felt very much at home and plan to return for another stay in the future.
Highly recommend! The house is beautiful inside and out, and the landscape is gorgeous. The host was responsive and helpful. We hope to come back soon! A note for those renting in very cold weather (our weekend was in January): be sure to bring plenty of layers. The host has extra blankets.

THE LAGNIAPPE LODGE IS VERY UNIQUE IN STYLE
AND LOCATION.
THE DECKS WRAP AROUND THE HOUSE AND FROM ALL AREAS YOU HEAR THE GENTLE SOUNDS OF NOT ONE BUT TWO WATERFALLS. THE OUTDOOR FIREPLACE AND COMFORTABLE PATIO FURNITURE PLUS LARGE CEILING FAN ARE SO NICE.
INSDE THE FURNISHINGS AND BEDS ARE ALSO COMFORTABLE AND VERY NICE.
The rental process was easy and efficient. The host always answered promptly, both before and during our stay. We had to leave the property in order to get a signal to ask for assistance. Somehow I didn’t realize - possibly my error - that the property is entirely off the grid - no cell service, no internet , no tv. We learned how to use very effective propane heaters. We brought books, relaxed, and enjoyed the peace and autumn colors — everything glittered magically in the rain.
We had a peaceful and relaxing stay at the beautiful Lagniappe Lodge, which was spotless and extremely well maintained. It is located on the rim overlooking Johnnies Creek Canyon, with two waterfalls on the 18 acre property. The lodge has antique furniture with windows offering views of the magnificent valley. We enjoyed hiking the property and spent the evenings sitting on the lit wraparound deck with the soothing sounds of the waterfall. Thank you, Adam and Katie, for sharing your beautiful home with us.
