The cabin is so cute and was perfect for our 8 day stay. Marilyn left everything we needed, our check in was contactless, and she checked several times to see if we needed anything (like towels and k-cups for the Kerrigan. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend a relaxing vacation during Covid.
Our kids LOVED it. Goats, chickens, ducks, and a couple of longhorns on the property (and Aggie the dog!), with a pond, creek, and trails in the woods. You can fossil hunt the creek bed when the water’s low; we came home with some cool finds and our dinosaur-obsessed kids were over the moon.
The cabin is small but comfortable, AC and heat are just right. There were a few amenities in the listing that weren’t quite accurate, but when I asked, Marilyn was quick to clarify and didn’t realize there were errors. I’m sure she’s fixed them by now, and they weren’t a big deal.
It is close to a grocery store and other necessities, but you really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Our big decision is whether we make this an annual Thanksgiving trip or visit at other times of the year.
I think this place is best for couples and families with 2 kids. We had a 5th family member with us, and it worked out fine. Just know that one of the beds is a convertible futon in the downstairs room, which is a combined living room and kitchen. Like I said, not a problem in our situation, but if you don’t love some of your travel companions or get up at drastically different times, you might want to stick to fewer people.
The wrap around porch is great, there’s multiple outdoor cooking options provided, and a big fire pit. This cabin had everything we could’ve wanted and then some. I can’t recommend highly enough!
