FISHING
Great fishing can be had right off your dock on Upper and Lower Herring Lake. Please catch and release, especially on Lower and Upper Herring Lakes. For fishermen who like to cast near Lake Michigan, both Frankfort and Elberta have fishing piers on Lake Betsie, which is essentially Frankfort Harbor. It is known for salmon, brown trout, steelhead, smallmouth bass, and catfish.
On calm days, locals like to fish from the north and south cement breakwater piers that reach way out into Lake Michigan.
The Frankfort Tackle Box on Main St has bait, tackle, licenses and great advice. For salmon, lake trout and steelhead charters, I recommend Power Trip or Tiny Bubbles.

We enjoyed the dock, kayaks, and firepit that the property offered. Good location to explore nearby areas such as Frankfort and Glen Arbor. The cottage was clean and just big enough for my family of five. We would stay here again.

We stayed over Labor Day weekend, great little cottage with beautiful views of the lake. The lake is very quiet, very few boats. The lake is quite shallow near the cottage which was nice for the kids, they both learned to kayak while we were there. Short distances to some great tourist attractions, but once you’re done with people you can retreat to the cottage for peace and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved the property but there are not 3 bedrooms in the cabin as advertised. There are 2 bedrooms plus a hideaway couch in the living room.

This property this a bit farther than i thought but an easy drive from Frankfort- 12 miles. It is listed as 3 bedrooms, unless i misread it but only 2 and then a couch in a small sitting area. The house was nice and clean and next to a super cute dock and sitting area outside. Very peaceful.

Lake is not busy and shallow for kids to play. Tons of paddle boards, kayaks, and row boats available. Only 10 minutes to Frankfort. Very lovely cottage with everything we needed to get away. Thanks Peter!

If you want a quiet place to relax and enjoy a private lake, this is your spot. Cottage has been gutted and completely renovated into a modernized, two-bedroom home with a beautiful kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and open family room. The lake is quiet and peaceful with great fishing. Kayaks and rowboats were available on-site for use. Excellent communication with host. Would book again.

Great two bedroom cabin. Lots of windows, awesome kitchen and bathroom. for those who cook it would be helpful to have a few more kitchen utensils like a steamer. Otherwise, no complaints. We used the fans a lot and found that you have to be fairly tall to be able to reach the chains to control the fan and the light. Also good idea to bring in the chair cushions from the screened in porch because they get quite wet when it rains. Another suggestion would be a few throw rugs, particularly in the bedroom because the floor gets quite sandy, and it would be nice to have something to get the sand off the feet before getting into bed. Peter was responsive and friendly As was his wife. Would definitely come again.

Cottage was small but perfect size for the two of us. Quiet peaceful lake, loved sitting on the screened porch watching the herrons and ducks. Didn't use the available rowboats, kayaks or SUP's this year but looking forward to a future stay with kids and I'm sure we will use them.

The cottage appeared to be newly renovated with the exception of the twin beds. The mattresses were very squishy. The kitchen was well stocked. There were people outside playing music until 4 a.m. I went out at 3 a.m. to nicely ask them to turn it down and to tell them that it was supposed to be quiet after 10 p.m. So me and my daughter had little sleep. It would have been very peaceful without the couple next door! The lake was lovely to look at….we enjoyed the screened in porch.

Family of 5 with three 21 year olds and we had a great time. Everything was new and clean and Peter is a great host. He was constantly working on property making the dock larger and better for watching sunsets. Most of the time we didn’t even know he was there, and when we did see him he made sure we had everything we needed. Beach is small but dock, row boats, kayaks, and shallow swimming spot more than made up for it. Family in other cabin had smaller children and the beach and swim spot was perfect for them too.

This hidden gem is perfect for families or couples. It’s near everything that makes Northern Michigan magical. The property is clean, beautiful ( it’s on a freaking lake with like no traffic). The hosts supply kayaks, paddle boards, boats…..Because they have several cottages on the lake, my husband and I are planning on a trip with friends and their families. I highly recommend this property.

We loved this home and will definitely be back. My husband and I brought our 2 grandchildren 11 and 8 for a 4 day summer vacation. This home is totally remodeled.
Very clean. Kitchen is well stocked. The screened porch was perfect to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.
The waterfront is perfect. There are numerous row boats, paddleboards, tandem kayaks and small kayaks all are available with the cottage. The water is crystal clear and shallow for all to enjoy. Plenty of chairs and picnic tables with a gas grill.
The owners are at the resort and are very helpful with anything you may need.
Young or old it’s a perfect home.
