The hotel was very nice and the lady that checked me in was very helpful. We were only staying for one night and it looks like an excellent spot to jump on the public transportation. The only downside, which I knew going in, was that the rooms do not have air conditioning.

Only very bad was ,I paid 3nights ,by my own mistake .but ,even this one day I had about 4 contacts with the room service . I was not able to explain the Situation . Best of all, the Lady of the reception wanted me to come down ,maybe for more and more explanation ....but ,I love this place . Think I will visit again

The hotel was very conveniently located as far as walking the city. Desk staff was very accommodating, as our check in was 3 pm but our flight arrived at 7:45 am, and they let us store our luggage until check-in. They even offered check in as early as 1 pm. Desk staff also offered recommendations of things to do in the period of time between arrival and check in. The hotel is not fancy, but very comfortable, safe, and provided all amenities we needed. The only negative is that I booked the hotel specifically because of having an on-site restaurant/bar, but the restaurant/bar was closed during our visit.

The hotel was located in nice area and transport was convenient, walking distance from attractions. However the bed sheets and towels were not clean, I asked them to change them. TV was not working. Cleaners were helpful.

Good accomodation for my purpose (attending a seminar for a couple of days nearby). It's great that the zoo and many good restaurants are so close by. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint I would have is that the water in the shower didn't go away easily and that it's a curtain rather than glass (curtain was partially not hanging properly and let the water through. I've raised that point at the reception and they were going to look into it. I didn't try the breakfast, as I bought what I needed for the day in the small bakery at Friedberger Anlage (which is really good!)

Before leaving this review I read a few of the negative reviews of others. Some had decent things to say and some were just rude and expecting 5 star treatment in a 3 star place. This is a no frills hotel. You get what you pay for. Nothing fancy. And that is okay!! These hotels rooms are basic not for hanging out in all day. There are lots of things to do around the hotel so go explore!! Hotel am zoo is in a very convenient location. Close to coffee shops and bakeries and a good diverse selection of restaurants. Also, Our hotel room was clean and simply put together, it feels very safe here. Also the train station is just steps away from the hotel. The staff at the front desk are very kind and courteous. They were extremely helpful to me when I was trying to figure out the train system and by a ticket to Aachen. I butchered many German words (my pronunciation is horrible) but they were very patient with me and figured out what I needed. If you are looking for just a place to stay so you can explore the city then Hotel am zoo is a great option. Definitely recommend for the traveler needing a no frills but affordable, safe, quiet and clean place. 🤗
