About this property

NEW "House In Black" | Pool | Hot Tub | Bohemian

  • "Haus In Schwarz" or House in Black is a newly renovated and remodeled cottage home built for entertainment! This bohemian themed home is located just in between E Hwy St. and Friendship Lane as you enter Fredericksburg! A fantastic location if you're looking for a quick trip out to the plethora of Hill Country wineries, but also want to remain close to everything Main St. has to offer!

    The space
    "Haus In Schwarz" is German for House in Black. Named after an art installation by Eric Sturm...our goal was to create a unique, open concept property that our guests could enjoy and entertain larger groups at while visiting Fredericksburg. Perfect for bachelorette party's or larger family gatherings!

    There are 3 bedrooms inside the main house. Bedroom #1 and #2 are down the hallway next to the living room. Bedroom #1 has 1 Queen Bed and Bedroom #2 has 2 Queen Beds. The Master bedroom on the opposite side of the house has 1 King Bed.

    Guest access
    You will have access to the entire home and lot including the back patio, pool, and hot tub. Additional parking is also available in the back. You just have to enter the back alley behind the house and open the gate. Only spots that will remain locked are the storage shed directly out back where we keep supplies. You will receive instructions on how to access the property upon booking! If you have any questions just let us know!

    Other things to note
    Please note that the pool outside is a wading pool. Its lined partially with concrete in some area's, rocks, and water tarp. You should not expect this to look like a normal pool with a colored bottom. We have a cleaner and check the ph after each guest to make sure it is safe and comfortable to get in. But some algae growth, sand, etc. is to be expected.

Perfect Girls Trip!

This place was everything we needed for our girls trip. The house was as charming, cozy and welcoming as we expected based on the pictures. The extra beds out in the shed were a nice bonus, but we still chose to share the 4 beds inside the house amongst 8 of us and it was still very comfortable for everyone. Location was amazing because we were literally 5 minutes away from everything we wanted to visit. I would totally book this house again in the future!

It was great we did not want to leave. We're 1.4 miles from HEB very short drive to Main street. Everything you need within arms length. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

Bachelorette Weekend

We had an amazing bachelorette weekend at Haus In Schwarz! The house is decorated beautifully and perfect for a large group to stay comfortably. The backyard is a great hang out spot with the wading pool & hot tub! My only suggestion is that if you plan to cook at the house, plan to bring the extra cooking utensils/seasoning. Dakota was quick, responsive and super helpful :) highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Fredericksburg!

Nice House, Good Location but Some Issues

We stayed here for an extended weekend as a family of 10 and had a great time. The house is very cute and the backyard is really nice but there were some issues with our stay... We did not receive check-in information (keypad combo, Wi-Fi password, etc.) from the host prior to arriving but when we reached out there was a quick response. The electronic lock on the front door did not work for us, so thankfully there was a backup key we could use. It looked like none of the kitchen items (pots, pans, plates, etc.) were washed (caked-on food, lipstick marks, etc) and we couldn't get the dishwasher to work consistently. We appreciated that the stove had directions on how to use it because we would have never figured it out. There is no real way to lock the separate building unless you are inside of it. This was a huge inconvenience as our guests did not feel comfortable leaving their belongings in the room while we were gone all day. The front yard needs some work. There is a very large dead tree with branches hanging down at eye level. This is very dangerous and we had 3 people almost take out an eye at night. The neighbors clearly do not like that this is a short-term rental. The neighbor across the street has no parking signs up and the neighbor next door complained about us being in the backyard and quickly went inside.

I booked this property to have my brother's bachelor party and had a fantastic time. The property was everything we needed/wanted and provided the makings of a fun trip. We especially liked the back yard with the hot tub and the pool! The property was very clean and well put together. The owner was also wonderful and very communicative when I had any questions or comments. The surrounding area was really nice, especially Enchanted Rock and the wineries/restaurants in Fredericksburg. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, comfy, and fun homebase for exploring the Texas Hill Country!

We booked a girls trip to Fredericksburg and stayed here. We all enjoyed the pool and hot tub! The house had everything we needed for our 2 night stay and was only a 2 min drive from Main Street! The host was quick to respond with any questions we had. Will definitely stay here again sometime!

Weekend getaway

Extremely easy check in and check out process. Communications with owners was prompt and very helpful. Spacious home with an beautiful backyard, the hot tub was a weekend favorite. The location was close to downtown and only a few minutes from the wineries. I will be back the next time we visit!

Overall Nice Property!

We were looking for a property with a pool close to main st (this one isn’t walkable in the heat but a short drive to the shops). Plenty of space for the 6 of us but the house sleeps up to 12. Updated bathrooms and super comfy beds. The backyard is much larger than we expected and was perfect for us to hang out in.

Cute house

It’s much smaller than it looks in pictures, and the front yard and exterior of the house need some work- there were branches all over the yard and a shutter falling off one of the outside windows. The inside was really cute and comfortable, it’s an older house that’s been updated and has a fun aesthetic. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the fun back yard set up.

Just what we needed!

The front (outside) of the house doesn't do it justice! The inside is modern, updated, and well decorated. There was plenty of room for all of us, including a separate outside "cabin." We loved sitting outside by the pool (and listening to the waterfall). Plenty of cornhole was played! The strings of lights added just the right atmosphere!
