Thornwood Cottage is the perfect little get away

"This place was as advertised, and we did not want to leave. The cottage setting was perfect especially in the fall and inside was clean and cozy. It definitely gave off 90's Hallmark movie vibes both inside and out. Do not let the bathroom being separate from the cabin be something that turns you away. My wife and I could not think of a single complaint, we would love to stay again in the future."

"We love coming over to the river and this cabin sits right on the shore. Very peaceful and relaxing. Tugs and barges pass by within a couple hundred feet of the dock. We've stayed here twice. The hosts are accommodating and great to work with. Drawbacks include: the lack of water pressure is an extreme inconvenience. Cleanliness was meh.... throw rugs were in great need of washing, floors needed mopping and, when we were wiping things down before departure, we definitely wiped up dust and crumbs that were there before we arrived. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay."

"If you want peace and quiet, love to fish, hike and just enjoy your surroundings then this is your place. 5 minutes from Yellow River Forest, on property trout stream, Effigy Mounds a short drive away, great river road and local sights all nearby. The place is small and homey. We love it there."
