Figs Cottage - French Island (Sleeps up to 6) off-grid family friendly eco-stay

The FIGS Cottage at the French Island General Store/Cafe has 2 bedrooms (sleeps up to 6 people); a living area; well-equipped kitchenette; separate bathroom; heating and cooling; and free WIFI. It is pet friendly (non-shedding/additional fees apply per pet). Because French Island is completely off-the-grid this accommodation is eco-friendly, running predominantly on solar power and rainwater.

You will enjoy total privacy during your stay, with self-check-in: your keys will be located at our general store. Relax and unwind with the whole cottage to yourself, including a private garden area, BBQ, fire pit, etc. Being located next to our store and licensed café (the only shop on the Island) gives you direct access to dine in meals, e-bike hire, car hire (enquire at store for hire costs), meals, wine, maps and groceries. There are also local souvenirs such as French Island wine, honey, soaps and candles.

The cottage it is centrally located on the island, being only 3 kms from the ferry, pristine beaches, fishing spots, walking tracks, and national park. You can create your own adventure – whether you walk, cycle or drive – spotting wildlife, numerous koalas, and protected plant species, all while enjoying solitude, peace and quiet.

To get to the island you can either catch a ferry from Stony Point (Mornington Peninsula); from Cowes (Phillip Island); or bring your own car on the barge from Corinella. A free shuttle bus service is provided complimentary for arrivals and departures - bookings essential.

French Island is a perfect place for a getaway, for solo traveller, couples, families or anyone wanting to ‘escape’ the daily grind of the mainland. It is like stepping back in time into a world of seclusion, whether for a short stay, or longer! Whatever you choose to do, one thing is for sure, you’ll feel relaxed. As that is the way of life on French Island ... peace and tranquillity.
