We really enjoyed our stay in Fresnay sur Sarthe. The house was spacious, the outdoor area peaceful, and we enjoyed the town itself. The chateaux on a bluff over the river is beautiful. My son (age 35) and I were attending the LeMans 24 hour race. My wife stayed at the house while we went to the race. Easy 30 minute drive to the west side of the city of LeMans. We parked at the university (which was set up for parking for the race) and took the tram to its terminus at the race track. Very convenient and efficient.
Fresnay has only a few dining options and not much shopping, but we were there for the experience and found the town to be very peaceful. The house itself is fully equipped and clean. Our interaction with the owner was entirely by text message, which was great given that were unsure when we would arrive and needed to leave for the airport very early so would have inconvenienced them to have to meet to obtain keys or discuss the features of the property. I would recommend this property to anyone desiring a peaceful experience in a small French town and found it to be a great way to experience the race - perhaps it is better to have to drive and ride a tram for an hour than to be waiting for that long to exit the parking lot (?). My sincere thanks to our host for making the property available.
