Beautiful farm with a flowing stream, comfortable yurt, pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and living area with big stone fireplace, and the nicest animals! That plus so many stars at night. Couldn’t ask for more.
My girlfriend and I had a great time here. We were a little worried it would be cold, but the yurt had heaters and we were nice and cozy the whole time. And it was wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the running stream behind the yurt.
The property was beautiful, but the real stars were the animals. Getting to feed and brush the Scottish Highland cows was a major plus. There are also two very friendly dogs who kept us company during our stay. We loved sitting with the dogs and watching the cows, goats, and chickens.
There's a lot of great places for hiking nearby. The Kendall Trail is just a few minutes away. We also highly recommend Coopers Rock State Forest and Swallow Falls State Park, both only a short drive away.
We had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.
It was a lovely time. Hosts are responsive. Obviously not luxurious, but a nice compromise for me and my partner who wanted to camp. Loved waking up to the roosters and sound of the water.
The owners were quite friendly, and so was their happy farm family. Bowie( the pup), sally ( the duck), and many of the chickens as well as the goats. The babbling brook was wonderful to fall asleep too. Had a great and peaceful time. We definitely would stay again.

Great location
Besides a few glitches in malfunctioning shower and cleanliness of kitchenette equipment we had good time..
. Especially enjoyed interacting with animals . Loved the babbling brook.
Jason was friendly and gave us a tour of the farm.
My family and I absolutely loved our stay! It was exactly what we needed. The animals are so sweet and easy to fall in love with, the yurt was comfy and the hosts were super pleasant and kind. So peaceful and such a wonderful thing of the hosts to offer people, my family and I live in the downtown area of our city and otherwise never would have gotten such a wonderful experience. Will definitely be returning (hopefully soon)!!
This stay was fantastic. Lots of interaction with the goats, baby deer, hens, and farm dog. Yurt was very clean. Great cooking options in the pavilion. Definitely want to return.
We spent two nights for the holiday weekend. I would say it's definitely not 'roughing it', with how wonderful the yurt feels. Surprisingly roomy.
For toilet you can use a composting toilet (which seems like an outhouse, but inside the toilet bowl?) or also an outhouse. There was a shower in with the composting toilet. It's in a cute little building that's round like the yurt, and built into the side of the hill, reminding me of a hobbit house.
We didn't use the outdoor kitchenette because it was a short stay and we wanted it to be simple.
I made a list of what we didn't bring but would want to next time. The owners might have some of these, I didn't think to ask.
* an extra cover for when it's cold.
* extra pillows
* wipes
* dish towels
* hand towels (for outdoor kitchen and the bathroom)
I think my only caveat for this stay where the animals come visit and feel comfortable around you (which we obviously loved!) is that chickens and goats will also climb on the furniture and next to you on the couch. That might not be everyone's favorite idea of an outdoor eating space.
My favorite memories are probably of Levi, the very friendly rooster and just waking up to a misty morning with the duck being the first down by the yurt. And the creek gurgling behind the yurt. Saying this makes me want to point out that all the hens, chicks, guineas and goats and lambs are a delight to see outside your yurt door. We also visited the highland cows and Jason gave us a tour of the farm.
WiFi can be spotty. There is a water cooler for potable water (which Jason was quick to replace when we drank our way through that), and a sink in the yurt with non-potable water. People were in the camper next to the outdoor kitchen/pavilion which I somehow missed when I first booked the yurt. But the outdoor pavilion is for the yurt and you don't have to share if you don't want to.
There was a fan which helped when it got hot. There was also a little AC unit that doesn't really stand a chance with how big the space is.
Next time I want to come in the Fall season. I can't wait to see what the farm looks like then!
Such a wonderful location with the running stream steps away from the Yurt and Pavilion that just gives the atmosphere a breathe of serenity from the moment you step out of the car. If the water does not automatically make you forget about your stress, the farm mascot "OG" - original goat will certainly do so. All the animals on the farm are so friendly and wanting to be pet ( including the chickens ) And the owners are beyond accomadating and happy to show you around the farm and show off their baby goats! But don't worry if you want your space as well the Yurt is plenty distance away from their house and you feel quiet at ease inside with a very comfortable King size bed, kitchen table, futon and sink. And even if it's rainy and cold ( as it was most of our trip) you will still really enjoy your time as the Pavilion is covered so you can still cook and have a wonderful fire going all day and play Cornhole. And if you are brave ( or crazy) you can jump in the stream. All in all if you are looking for a place to hang out with your family and feel secluded and safe and be with animals and good people this is the perfect spot!
First and foremost - the property owners were completely lovely. We had an emergency that required us to cut our stay short and they were amazing. (You can rent this property through several sites other than this one (Yorkie Acres Goat Farm) - I would suggest looking into that as vee are bee oh customer support has been an **absolute** nightmare - and if there are issues, it's taking them approximately 4 weeks for refunds).
That being said, here's the deets: The property is rustic. This is definitely a "glamping" kind of scenario which leans less towards glam and more towards camping. Be prepared to bring your own blankets and towels if you're traving in COVID times. Bed is large and very comfortable. The little patio provided a nice place to hang out and watch the stars and enjoy the stream. If you've not used a compost toilet before, it's worth a quick google. It's not complicated, but it's different. Lastly, take your time in the morning; it's kinda magical with all of the animals and the stillness. We will definitely be back!
My daughter (13) and I just LOVED our stay at the Yorkie Farms yurt. The yurt itself is comfortable. Nice large bed, heaters for cold nights, couch, a table for meals and playing games, etc. But the real draw is the farm itself and the family who lives there. For "city folk" like us, it is amazing to be surrounded by sheep, goats, chickens, Highland cattle, cats and dogs. You can pet and feed them all! And the family knows the area well and can give you tips about where to hike, where to get the best donuts, and where to buy local cheese. We definitely want to go back soon.
This place was super super cute, they had a nice area to sit outside by the creek and the whole space was decorated beautifully! The stars out here are also beautiful! We had a great stay, i wish we would have been there longer! Would definitely come back
We appreciated the warm reception we received when we arrived and really enjoyed the tour of the farm and animals. We enjoyed learning more of the history of the farm. Alea and Jason made sure we were comfortable.
