"Everything was great, other then... we chose this location because it had a pool. Traveling with 3, 10 year olds, a pool was a MUST!! We were able to swim once for about 2 minutes before the smell of chlorine forced us to leave. All three of my kids almost immediately became ill, including coughing, burning eyes and skin irritation Later that evening the pool was completely closed "for maintenance". We were told it was something to do with the chlorine levels. We ended up checking out a day early because the weather wasnt great to be outside, the pool was closed and the kids were still not feeling great. One of our children still has a horrible cough and skin irritation. Other then that, everything was as it should be. "
"We had such a wonderful experience, my kiddos had so much fun in the back,’on the beach. My dog enjoyed exploring. We loved the back trail and watching the sunrise was my most favorite. We hope to visit again. We had good communication with the host and can’t wait to be back!"
Only 200 feet from Lake. Fire Pit,Kayaks & Bikes included! Longer Stay Discounts
8/10 Good
"Great communication with owners. Close to lake. Property was up for sale, but we were not informed of that. There was a separate lockbox for the realtor and we were worried they’d have a showing during our stay. Cute decor; nicely decorated. It could’ve been cleaned better; everything was quite dusty. Overall nice place would just recommend a better cleaning."
Secluded Cabin on the Muskegon River, 40 Acres of Private Land, ORV Trail Access
10/10 Excellent
"This was our 2nd trip to the cabin. Matt and Becky has had excellent communication each time. The cabin is clean, well stocked and sits on 40 private acres. Right out of the driveway you have access to the Leota trail system were we rode the SXS all day. The nights were spent playing games, grilling out and sitting by the bonfire. Can't wait for the next trip as they keep getting better. "
"This cabin is the most adorable and eclectic mash-up of Jimmy Buffet-meets-Southwest decor! Parking was a breeze, the fridge was literally spotless, and the house rules and check-out instructions were clearly posted. It’s about a 7-minute to town. The spacious deck lent itself to incredible views of the lake and we enjoyed various wildlife sightings. Some things to note that weren’t dealbreakers for us but were surprising; The king bedroom doesn’t have a door, per se, but it does give you the option to wake up to a pretty awesome view - though we’d highly advise you wear pajamas to bed. Two smaller beds are located in what look like they used to be closets; one in the queen bedroom and another in its own small, enclosed space off the common area. Heads up: our maps app changed the speed limit of the road the cabin is on every single time we came and went. Definitely check out Up North Coffee and Trail’s End restaurant!"
Charming 2-bedroom cottage in welcoming Houghton Lake with Hot Tub, AC, WiFi
10/10 Excellent
"This really is a cozy, cute place. You can tell a lot of personal love is being put in to it as its still somewhat of a work in progress but it does not keep it from being a great place to stay. The little pool table was a lot of fun and we absolutely loved the hot tub! The temp out side was still quite cool so it was very much enjoyed! We had pretty much everything we needed in the kitchen as well as plenty of bath towels and the beds were cozy enough....we all slept well. Also, Jacob was great with communication. I would definitely stay here again."
6BR Houghton Lake House w/ Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, and Golf Simulator - Sleeps 24
10/10 Excellent
"We had a great stay overall! The property itself is beautiful, with gorgeous lake views and plenty of space for our group to spread out and relax. The pool was also a big highlight — really nice and a lot of fun for everyone. Hot tub was also nice with a beautiful pool. A couple things to note for future guests. The listing mentions 6 bedrooms, but the 6th “bedroom” is actually the game room with a twin trundle. It’s fine for kids, but not the most ideal setup for an adult, so just something to be aware of when planning. We also had an issue with the heat one night — it dropped to 62 degrees in the house, which made things pretty uncomfortable (and too cold to enjoy the pool). That said, the host was responsive and sent someone out the same day after we reached out.Overall, we had a really nice time and enjoyed the property — just a few things to keep in mind when booking! We would love to return. "
