We had an absolutely lovely long weekend at the Goldmoor. The Arthur suite was spacious, and the whirlpool was a wonderful way to relax after taking in the local scenery. We had dinner at The Edge at Goldmoor--absolutely delicious! The breakfasts each morning to the room were much better than any traditional bed and breakfast I've visited. I highly recommend!

Relaxed and wonderful, but know about food options

The one thing I will caution future guests about is breakfast. It’s one menu selection (there is no menu to choose from) for everyone every morning. So if you’re a picky eater or have lots of food sensitivities, this could be a real hassle. It is served in your room only, and delivery runs a bit on island time. So if you have timed plans in the morning, make sure to give yourself an extra half hour buffer to account for possible breakfast delays. Other than that, I had an absolutely fabulous stay. The fireplace in the room was my favorite feature. Bed and bedding were like sleeping on a cloud. Book a suite with river view if possible. The view is quite wonderful! I saw the inn keeper every day. He’s very friendly, talks to everyone, and truly wants you to have a wonderful stay. I highly recommend dinner at least once at the restaurant there. The food is exquisite! Keep in mind that lunch and snacks aren’t offered. Bring things from home, there’s a fridge and microwave in every room.

The property is beautiful, even in the winter with no snow. We had great views of the Mississippi river and my wife and I enjoyed the break away from society. It was wonderful to listen to the wildlife. There were so many stars out during the cloudless nights as well - and the quiet was wonderful. It was broken every 40 minutes or so with the rumble of a train passing by, which we also enjoyed hearing. The breakfasts were served in room and were amazing as well. Galena was less than 15 minutes away, so getting to town was easy enough.

I don’t normally do reviews but I had to for this place. It was a very high-end, upscale B&B. Absolutely beautiful property and room! Gourmet breakfast brought to the room everyday. Very scenic. Bathroom was clean and newly remodeled. Bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a romantic getaway.

A romantic getaway

The Goldmoor Inn was a beautiful, quaint romantic place to enjoy the fall colors. The restaurant was fabulous and the owner of the Inn came to each table and checked in with each guest during dinner. Service was top notch. We stayed in the turret room and absolutely LOVED it!!! Breakfast was served in our room and was delivered on time with attention to every detail. We will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful getaway.
