Downtown Galena is a 2block walk. The rooms were beautiful and very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic also

It's very quaint and comfortable and I liked the family-style breakfast in the morning as all of the guests were able to talk to each other. The host was also nice as well and I enjoyed the various activities (such as the morning coffee and evening wine cheese tea) and things to do.

our stay was amazing. clean old home emaculent furnishing. I think we were the last to make our reservations, because the B&B was full for the 3 days that we stayed. I did not see any other rooms available when I booked. we had a smaller room with a queen size bed, but very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent was able to meet new people and was very entertaining. all of them were repeat guests and some even knew each other from previous visits. This was our first time going to Galena I am going to make sure it is not my last. over all one of the best mini vacations we have ever had. By the way Galina was #1 also did not have a bad meal in 3 days that we stayed, full of things to do and see.

MOLD ISSUES!
CAUTION! Don't stay here if you are sensitive to mold!!! Or have allergies or asthma. On our recent stay we encountered horrible air quality conditions. We had a two night stay planned and left a night early, opting to stay at another local hotel. When we brought this manager's attention they did nothing to make improvements (switching rooms/ airing out the room), or a refund. We attempted to communicate all of this with the owner and have yet to receive a response(and it's been a few weeks) On a positive note, the cookies they put out were fantastic!

I am going to have to push back a little on this review. We received your message to our website on March 26th but did not see it until the next morning and responded on March 28th at 1:26pm to the email listed. In that email I explained that our HVAC systems are routinely maintained with regular filter changes and since your stay we had our spring maintenance performed and the room you stayed in received special attention and they did not deem the air quality poor nor did they find mold or a reason to suspect mold. A week prior to your stay all the vents in the guest rooms were cleaned as well. I do have to say as far as making improvements, I (owner) explained to you that morning we were unable to open the windows and had you asked I could have explained to you that we were full and were not able to swith rooms.Please know that we do sympathize with your condition and understand why you felt you needed to cut your stay short. But we're happy to hear that you loved our cookies!

First Time Bed And Breakfast Patrons
This was the first time my wife and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast. We were very impressed with everything from the check-in to check-out. The Steamboat House is very impressive and historic. Our room was very nice and the breakfasts we were served were excellent. The Steamboat House is only a 5 minute walk to downtown, so we did not move our car during our 2 night stay. We will definitely be going back to the Steamboat House during our next stay in Galena. Carol's hospitality made this a very pleasant trip.

Labor Day Getaway
There are quite a few bed and breakfast places in Galena. It is an old historic home, the inside was decorated nicely, we made use of the pool room which was fun. One suggestion would be to clean up the large front porch a bit, hide the bottle of round up, etc. This is the first impression and the front porch could be such a great focal point. The breakfast each day was very good and it was nice to meet and talk with the other guests. The location was great, just a few blocks from downtown. Overall a nice place.

By way of explanation, 2 days before you arrived a giant tree branch came down in the yard and damaged much of the yard and some of the porch. We are working to clean up the damage. We highly recommend The Steamboat House! We stayed at here on our first trip to Galena and we’re so impressed. We hadn’t ever stayed at a Bed & Breakfast so weren’t really sure what to expect but couldn’t have had a better experience. Everything was very clean and Covid friendly! Carol is so kind and welcoming. The home is beautiful and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The wine at 5 PM was a lovely time to explore the beautiful house. You can see the amount of care Carol puts into everything with the seasonal decorations and the pristine condition of the house. We stayed in Viola and really appreciated the fireplace in our room and morning coffee right outside the door! We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed everything about the Steamboat House! Carol and the staff were accommodating, without being overbearing. The house itself was absolutely gorgeous, and my husband enjoyed playing in the billiard room. The wine in the early evening was also a nice touch, along with the hand-made delicious breakfast each morning. We appreciated being within walking distance of downtown, while staying removed from the noise of the crowd. Lastly, being child-free, the quiet, peaceful adults only setting was helpful in us making our weekend more relaxing. We would definitely return!

Being at the Steamboat House Bed and Breakfast felt like travelling in the time machine. What a beautifully maintained place. We particularly enjoyed the library, with its floor to ceiling shelves filled with books and decorations. The room was charming; however, we with there was a table for extra convenience. The wine and cheese plate in the evening was a nice touch. The biggest let down was the breakfast, consisting of coffee, fruit juice, small fruit bowl, and a muffin. Some eggs and sausages would be nice.

Thank you for your kind review. I'm sorry you felt the breakfast was inadequate. The fruit cup and muffin were the first course. My daughter told me that she informed you that there was a second course, a croissant ham/cheese,egg dish and potatoes. However when we delivered your plate you had already left the library and shortly thereafter checked out. I apologize if we were not more clear about the availability of the second course and feel badly that you were disappointed. We appreciate your business and hope to see you in the future.

A step back in time.
The breakfast was exceptional, and lots of it. Wine and cheese, and cookies and beverage offerings were a nice touch throughout our day. The period decor of the house filled our stay with interesting discoveries in every room.

Quiet, peaceful, great weekend escape. The house was exciting and decorated so well. Our room had a fire place which made the experience much more cozy. The wine time with cheese made the house feel like a vacation just hanging out.

Delightful Bed and Breakfast
The Steamboat House has a great location, within an easy walk of Main Street. The home has lots of features to enjoy like the billiards and movie collection. We stayed in Lene and were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious each morning, but I could not enjoy the full breakfast on either day. I do wish we were told in advance what would be served or were asked about dietary needs.

Halloween parade weekend
A great location for exploring Galena and the surrounding area. Good breakfast, comfortable room and we enjoyed the Halloween decorations throughout the house. This was our second stay and would definitely recommend staying at this bed and breakfast.

We loved all the Halloween decorations dispersed throughout the house. We loved the fresh coffee at 7:30am. We loved the fantastic breakfasts. We loved the cookies in the evening. Beautiful decor. Friendly and welcoming proprietor. Delicious breakfast. Personalized service. We received a call within an hour of checking out that we had left something behind so we were able to retrieve it easily. Highly recommend!!

This house was amazingly furnished. Our room was very comfortable and coffee bar was right outside the door. Served wine around 4:00 which we looked forward to. Beds were comfortable and only had one problem with a hair dryer and outlet, but that was quickly solved. I would stay here again. It's so close to downtown Galena and very quiet.

Period correct and beautifully maintained and decorated. Full of period antique furnishings and photographs. Close walking distance to downtown Galena. The house was squeeky clean and everything worked. Owner Carol and daughter Stephanie were cordial and served delicious breakfasts each day. The house was surprisingly quiet--we really slept well. Carol served wine and cheese at 5pm each evening which was a nice opportunity to chat with the other guests. We really had a nice time at Steamboat House and would definitely go again.

A great first B&B experience
Our first B&B experience. The small staff was very friendly, and even emailed before the stay to ask about food allergies. Coffee and hot water in carafes just outside the bedrooms at 7:00 was handy. Breakfast was big and tasty. Location just a block away from Route 20, but very quiet. Library filled with wonderful books, games, and movies. Staff was very accommodating to our schedule, and really knew the area. Room was comfortable, and attached bathroom included a shower. You can charge some phones with the alarm clock. Wi-fi and phone reception seemed fine. Our wintertime stay gave us a good idea of icy weather in a hilly region! Staff arranged for multiple applications of salt, sand, and a bit of gravel for the sake of good traction in the driveway and small parking area. Although this was a couple's trip, the set-up would be perfect for a girls' weekend, as the guest rooms are all on the 2nd floor, with a central parlor with chairs and cards.

We loved the steam boat house, the home was beautiful and the innkeeper Carol was very kind. Our stay included a wine and cheese tray as well as cookies and tea and coco in the evening which was a very nice touch. We will definitely be staying here again.

Among the best B&Bs I have stayed in. Beautiful home, very clean and comfortable. Very good breakfasts. Appreciated the information about the surrounding area that was in our room and led us to explore a new area outside Galena. Within walking distance of Main Street which was perfect for attending the Halloween parade and walking tor dinner Friday night. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.

A wonderful long birthday weekend location
I had a great time in Galena with my sister and mother. It was her birthday, and my sister and I wanted to treat her to a weekend away at a beautiful B&B, in a lovely town. Check in was easy, Carol, the innkeeper, was wonderful, friendly and gracious. She served delicious breakfasts in the beautiful dining room, and evening wine and cheese in the front parlor. Our bedroom, the Elsie, was the largest and was so beautifully decorated! The Victorian style is not a style I’d have in my home, but our room really made me appreciate the decor, and want to add a few antiques to my home! It was quiet in the B&B, and the other guests were very friendly, and this helped make our stay a memorable one. I’d definitely come back and stay here again.

The one thing we would have liked, were cold bottles of water in our room. There were 2 bottles of water in the room when we arrived, but it was very warm. Putting the bottles in a bucket of ice would help. Having a refrigerator in the hall where the bedrooms are located would be nice. The breakfast was wonderful! Overall, it was a very nice place to stay.

Fabulous bed and breakfast close to downtown
Beautiful property close to downtown. Carol was a fantastic hostess. The breakfast both mornings were incredible. Plus she served wine and cheese in the afternoon and cookies and tea in the evening. Rooms were clean, comfortable and decorated very nicely. This was my first experience with a bed and breakfast and was extremely impressed.
