Charming Historic Home by Beach & Strand

  • The Historic Hideaway is a charming 4-bedroom ground-floor unit of a grand Silk Stocking District mansion turned duplex. Only a 2-minute drive from the beach and the Galveston Pleasure Pier, as well as The Strand shopping district. You are close to everything the island has to offer. Relax by the firepit in the backyard and soak up island vibes. Please note, being a duplex, the outdoor amenities are shared with the downstairs unit.

    ● WINTER TEXAN RATE: Escape to the Texas Gulf Coast this winter! Ask about our reduced monthly rates October 1 - March 1.

    ● Location: Midtown neighborhood of Galveston, Texas

    ● Beach Access: Less than a two minute drive from the Historic Pleasure Pier and the beaches at the seawall.

    ● Rent Beach Box: Beach gear rentals are available! Ask us for details and rates.

    ● WIFI/Cable: We provide free high-speed WIFI and Roku with access to Sling TV for live television channels. Guests are welcome to log into their own streaming service apps.

    ● Pet Policy: Pets are not allowed.

    ● Parking: There is room for up to 2 vehicles in the driveway.

    ● Cancellation Policy: All cancellations are subject to a 3% credit card processing fee.

    ● Party Policy: No parties are allowed at our home. Please look elsewhere if that is the intent of your trip.

    ● Age Requirement: Guests must be 24+ to book.

    - Do not turn the thermostat below 70 degrees.
    - Should an eviction occur due to breaking house rules (noise ordinance violations, excessive guests and/or vehicles beyond the agreed amount), there will be an $850 fine.

Took off a star for the septic overflowing in the middle of the backyard. You couldn’t enjoy back there because of the smell & kids couldn’t play back there. Just FYI - this is only for the bottom floor as the top floor is a separate rental. House was cute, but small. It was only for 1 night, so it wasn’t a huge deal to us. They supplied coffee but no coffee cups, etc.

We stayed in the bottom unit overnight before we left in a cruise. There was another family who was staying in the upstairs unit. You could hear EVERYTHING they did. They weren’t partying or being disrespectful at all. The floors are all wood and there obviously isn’t much insulation between the floors. There weren’t any pillows or blankets for the pull out couch. I would not recommend this unit for 10 people. The one bathroom is small. One of the shower doors wouldn’t close properly so when someone showered the towel had to be there to soak up water. We have 7 kids and this unit would have been too small for us if we would have needed to stay more than a night. The living room area wouldn’t hold more than 5 people comfortably. If you’re looking for a cheaper place to stay overnight with a group of no more than 6 and bring LOUD fans to block out the noise this would be an appropriate rental. I did reach out to the host the night we stayed about the noise and they got right back to me. They stated something about the quiet hours.
