If it's your first time travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you'll notice plenty of new standards and rules in place. Follow these tips and make your escape to Gateway Island go off without a hitch:

• Investigate the rules and restrictions in both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so make sure you check before you lock in your flight.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask for identification purposes when asked by a TSA employee.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. You'll have to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and wallet) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
