Good but Sales Presentation
We enjoyed our stay. The room was nice even though not exactly as advertised it was comparable. It advertised two queen beds in one room but there was only one king however it did have two fold out couches which worked for us. Also the dining room table was supposed to have 6 or 8 but only had 4 seats however there was a second 4 seater table in the unit. Everything was clean but the unit could use a little updating such as the master shower. Not quite up to what the other places we’ve stayed in for the same price have offered. We had a couple of issues upon arrival as we did with another place we stayed which was quickly resolved. The issue was not enough hot water upon arrival. Sometimes they don’t check to turn up the hot water on these units prior to guests arriving. But it is an easy fix you just have to call them to come take care of it and then wait 45 minutes to shower. Also another issue that seems to be an often occurrence is these condo units do not have enough towels upon arrival. Barely one per person. But after requesting more they give you plenty and very quickly. However you would not know to ask because they don’t tell you. The last and biggest problem with renting a condo that I’ve seen is that upon check in they book you for a presentation where they try to sell you a unit. That’s bad enough on vacation eating up your time and enjoyment but the worse part is they don’t tell you that is what they are booking you for which I find deceitful. Instead they tell you it is to get your feedback and that they will have lunch for you. I guess I was naive because there is no free lunch. I thought it wasn’t something I could not say no to anyway. When we got there, there was no food, they said they were all out but it didn’t appear there was ever any food.. I just don’t like the dishonesty. After this happening to us twice in a row, I will think more carefully about renting a condo especially a well known commercial type one where I have to see someone to check in. The houses we have stayed in and one condo in downtown Gatlinburg have been directly through the owners not a property manager or resort and Ive had good experience with that. These resorts and condos try to sales trap you and dampen your vacation. Unless you like being sold something which most people don’t when they are trying to get away from pressure and enjoy a vacation. All in all we still enjoyed it.
