Georgetown Square Minutes From Riverside, Countryside Farm Home, Family & Pets

Experience the evolution of vacation travel - stress-free countryside living at this one-of-a-kind Texas Hill Country home. Situated among centuries-old live oaks on a mile of San Gabriel River frontage (river is not visible from the house, but is a 5 minute walk or drive through the pature), 172 acres of working farmland, and full of history. This Georgetown farm is sure to captivate the whole group with its stunning views, terraced patios and original charm.

Throughout this thoughtfully designed home, you'll marvel at unique touches that speak to its special appeal. From the hand-laid stone pulled from the river, to the pond with fountain. You'll even find framed reproductions of art painted by previous owner and artist C.P. Montague (who happened to be one of President Lyndon B. Johnson's favorites) decorating the walls.

The open living area offers plenty of air conditioned space to catch up with friends, while the gourmet kitchen provides all you need to prep family-style meals, including a dishwasher for easy clean-up. Curl up with a book by the wood-burning fireplace (wood provided), host family movie night on the 62" flat screen Smart TV and DVD player, or stream your favorite show through free Wi-Fi on your devices. For those of you needing to work from while visiting, the Internet tower is in the top pasture, so you will have hi-speed Internet!

Two luxurious king suites come complete with light-filled sitting rooms and beautiful linens, while a queen sleeper sofa with an additional 4" mattress topper in the living alcove, or a 22" queen self-inflatable mattress with comfy bedding creates room for up to 8 travelers. If you brought the little one, a Pack-n-play and strap-in booster chair with tray, and a small canvas stroller are available too. Just let me know.

There are two baths; one with a walk-in shower, the other with a square soaking tub. A front-load washer and dryer helps keep packing light.and addition

An entertainer's paradise lies just outside! Relax with a glass of wine on multi-level terraced patios while listening to the song birds, or the fountain in the pond below. Fire up the charcoal grill and dine alfresco with the whole group. At dusk, a fire pit awaits for story swapping, S'mores making, listening to the Great Horned Owls, and stargazing.

Just 10 minutes down the road is historic Georgetown, with "The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas", with museums, man y wonderful farm-to-table restaurants and live music most nights. Wolf Ranch in Georgetown is a destination shoppers delight; shopping at IKEA and the outlet mall is just 20 minutes away; and you'll be in the heart of Austin in 30 minutes. Kalahari is a quick 15 minute drive from the farm. Sweet Eats Farm is very close to the farm and many guests enjoy visiting there, as well as InnerSpace Caverns in Georgetown.

Or stay close to home and find great fishing and tubing in the San Gabriel River, along with 172 acres for hiking and birding. Be sure to check out our free farm tour where the whole family can learn about local fossils, plants, search for arrowheads, engage with the animals, or take tractor rides. Don't forget your pets! Open acres of leash-free space are a dog's dream come true. Guests tell us their pets enjoyed their leash-free stay as much as they did!!

Ditch the city life for the serenity of the Texas Hill Country countryside and come see what it's like to live on a working farm and explore a living museum!

Our kids loved "the farmhouse" so much we visited for a second time after a year. We played in the river, and Ms Sharon even provided us some tubes! On top of that, she dropped off some delicious muffins as well. It's the perfect family Farmcation!

Scurlock Farms

We fell in love with Rocky Overlook the moment we drove onto the property. As my son and I said we found our "zen" staying here. Just what the three of us needed. Sheron and family are the best host!

A Memorable Experience

Note: I actually believed I posted this eight months ago but I guess because there was a glitch it didn't go through.I stayed here with my husband and kids and we had the best time! Not only was the rental clean, comfortable, and well maintained but the location was just gorgeous. We got a lovely tour of the property and saw the most gorgeous view of the cliffside and river. Our kids loved relaxing on the hammock outside and meeting and feeding the cows and.goats. We had a blast and hope to stay again! Highly recommended

Wonderful! We loved the house, each room was so unique and comfortable.

The entire family loved the river, cows, and just hanging out on the back patio. The patio for the month of June and July was so nice with a constant breeze. It’s hard pleasing four teenagers but they all loved it here. We were made to feel welcomed upon arriving and never had a need for anything, thanks to our host hospitality!

Amazing-Quiet and Peaceful

We chose Scurlock Farms because we wanted a quiet and peaceful area for the weekend. Sheron was super sweet, she gave us a tour of the farm plus let us hang out with the animals which was so much fun. She spoiled us with fruit and homemade muffins that were so good! The home was clean and cozy, and it had everything that we needed for our stay. I highly recommend staying here if your looking for a nice and quiet place with lots of things to see and do so close by. Thank you so much for everything Sheron!

Welcoming property with options galore!

The owners, Sheron and Dan, were attentive to our needs without being invasive. We loved the private tour of the property which included the San Gabriel river, visiting and feeding the goats and horses, 19 acre pecan grove, and several overlook scenic views. They maintained our firewood for the fantastic wood burning fireplace during an extremely cold couple of days. The area on the backside of the house had several different tables with chairs for reading, bird watching or just sitting! It was a lovely experience. The house was comfortably furnished and included beautiful artwork of the surrounding Texas hill country.

Delightful family holiday

My husband and I had the best time celebrating Christmas at Rocky Overlook. From the moment we walked through the front door, we felt at home. The lights were on and soft music was playing. There was even a small Christmas tree set up for us to enjoy and lots of seasonal touches like electric votives and potted poinsettias. So thoughtful! The home has all the charm you’d expect of a B&B – plus fresh fruit, coffee/tea, various toiletries and fluffy towels, all very clean. The rooms are all beautifully decorated with interesting local artifacts and Texas landscape artwork. The hosts have provided a binder with information about the artist C.P. Montague; reading her history really brings the home alive. The fireplace was a bonus during a chilly week. Although there’s a large screen television in the living area, we did not turn it on once. We enjoyed reading in front of the fire and playing family boardgames. The kitchen is spacious and well supplied with staples. I brought my rolling pin and perishables and was able to finish my holiday cookie baking with no problem, with a fantastic view from the kitchen windows all the way down the bluff. The owners’ attention to detail is evident in the gorgeous landscaping, the cascading waterfall that feeds into a goldfish pond, and the beautiful patios, where we enjoyed morning coffee and fruit, grilling up some dinner and watching the stars. All the personal touches and amenities made us very comfortable, and with such a central location for sightseeing, this home is a great value for anyone. We can't wait to return!

Beautiful Property & Fantastic Host

Beautiful property set back away from the city. Close enough to enjoy what Austin and the surrounding areas offer, but far enough away that is peaceful and quite. Very comfortable & cozy home that has everything you need. We were greeted by several deer in or around the yard every morning when we woke and the evenings when we returned. Property has a lot to offer if you just want to stay for the day and relax. Host is amazing and when the previous reviews say that her offering of fresh baked from scratch and served warm muffins are fantastic, they aren't kidding. They were AWESOME. Great host. Great property. We hope to return again soon!

Best stay in Texas

We absolutely loved staying here. Original plans were several family members (6of us total) but our trip fell apart so it was only my boyfriend and I, and I’m so glad we still decided to go (it was past the point of a refund so we figured might as well have a vacation anyway!). So much space, even with 6 of us it would have been very comfortable. Quiet rural area but so close to town so we could drive into Georgetown easily for dinners, etc. Loved the full kitchen as we were also able to cook meals! Very handy since stayed a whole week. The property grounds are great, we loved the various sitting areas out back and there is a trail through the trees that leads to the pecan orchard, go through that and you get to the river which was also fun to walk along. Sheron was a wonderful host, we loved the homemade muffins, and had the pleasure of getting a property tour from her as well where we got meet some of the farm animals. She was super accommodating when we had to change our original reservation too. The place really felt like home while we were there, and we’d definitely stay again!

Peaceful + Restful + Comfortably Wonderful!

The quaint-Texas elegant farm house with its comfortable furnishings and historical artwork was perfect and priced right. The private treed site and fire-pit rock and forest back yard more than offset the older style of the house. What topped it all was the walk through the orchard to the stunning private riverside setting where we spent hours in seclusion and beauty. The host delivered warm muffins and even had plenty of coffee and other necessaries all in position. We will be coming back.

Location Location!

You cannot beat this property!! We have stayed many places and we just love the landscape of Scurlock Farms! This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. This is a great family vacation spot. Chilling by the river was lots of fun, and our daughter loved it. Sheron was so helpful as always, and made the best muffins for us! We got a flat and one of her sons came to help us right away. You can’t go wrong with Scurlock Farms.

Farmcation

We had a great experience at Scurlock Farms. Sheron and her family were so welcoming and were the best host. My kids enjoyed interacting with all the animals and exploring the property. Unfortunately, due to the drought, we were not able to enjoy the river on the property but hoping to go back soon when the river is flowing once again. I would definitely recommend vacationing with the Scurlocks!!!

Paradise In Georgetown

The ease of checking in was flawless. The house was well designed with wonderful furniture and kitchen accessories. The original artwork added to the charm of the property along with the thousands of river rock used to construct the home. The river was down but our grandchildren used the riverbed to find fossils The ownber's sons took our grandchildren to feed the goats and chickens as well as to drive the tractor. The family that owns the property could not have been nicer. And let's not forget the homemade banana muffins that were waiting for us when we arrived. If you want a totally wonderful vacation stay come stay at Scurlock Farms.

Georgetown Get Away

The property is very scenic and relaxing. Access to the river was easy and rewarding even though the water level was low due to the drought. The house is very well kept and well stocked. We enjoyed the wild bird variety and the deer. Sheron Scurlock took us on a tour of the property and gave some history which made us love it even more. Access to Georgetown and Round Rock was easy and fun. We would stay there again.

Remote getaway

We loved our stay at Rocky Overlook. The property was exactly as described and pictured. The TV was new with availability to log into Netflix and such. It also had free streaming TV. Internet speed was very good. The Host is amazing, she bakes delicious muffins. The property is large, we saw fossils by their riverfront, fed goats, horses, and chickens - our 4 year old loved it. We cooked most of our meals in the house, the kitchen is well equipped.
