Four bedroom house on the south shore of Big Glen. Location couldn't be better, great beach out front. Cottage is on the rustic side, but that's perfect for ourselves and our young grandkids. Great communication with the owner, easy checkin.
perfect place for our family vacation. on the lovely south shore of big glen. great little beach, shallow water, and really close to all sleeping bear has to offer. great communication with host, and excellent responsiveness to simple needs.
We had a terrific time in Glen Arbor. The house sits on a beautiful piece of property with a beautiful view of Big Glen and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in a very quiet area. We had 3 couples for a week and the house is definitely big enough to accommodate us. We were there after Labor Day and my only complaint is the house could use a Deep Clean! Perhaps the beginning of the Season and again the middle of the season as well as replacing some of the older chairs. Added Bonus: The house is walking distance to the fantastic restaurant Trattoria Funistrada!
Great location, great beach and waterfront. Swimming, kayaking, biking, walking, reading, shopping, and generally relaxing. Spacious house, shaded in the morning but nice sun in the afternoon, surrounded by trees.
This lake is crystal clear water on top of soft fine sand, and shallow (3 - 4') for hundreds of feet out from the dock. Every morning we walked, swam, floated and socialized on the water and then sat on the beach with coffee, read the paper and talked. We went to sleeping bear dunes, had dinner and a fire on Lake Michigan, went into Traverse city for dinner and shopping, went biking and hiking on trails, and generally relaxed in the smell of pine trees. A very relaxing week.
Full of rustic charm and great for our young infant and toddler being on one level, not too many stairs in and out, lower kitchen bar for Little’s, and indoor and outdoor toys. Beautiful soft sandy beachfront to play and relax on as well as a yard to run around. Soft shallow sand extends out quite a ways. If you have young kids, bring scooters and bikes as the long paved driveway would have been perfect for those kind of activities. Completely stocked for all basic needs even some spices and cooking oils and coffee which was so nice not having to run out for little things. The linens were ample. Host was responsive and location was phenomenal.
Great location, great lake side. If Mad Men had a lake house… We very much enjoyed our week stay here. The lake and yard were perfect. The inside is dated but perfectly acceptable for lake life. There are a few quirks but nothing worth highlighting in a review. I definitely recommend this place.
The property had plenty of space for our adult children to join us. It was well stocked and supplied and the location could not have been better. We would definitely come back.
Glen lake is incredible! The property has amazing views and is quiet and peaceful. Kitchen is well appointed and beds were comfortable. Living room furniture could use an upgrade as the armchairs fall over as soon as you sit in them. David was responsive and quickly addressed minor issues, the house was great! I would stay there again, we had a wonderful time.
Classic grandparent lake cottage that was more spacious than it appeared. Layout worked great for our group. Well stocked, but could do with a deep clean and some updated electrical (sparks when plugging in lamps caused some concern).
We loved our stay at this home. The beach is great and the sandy, shallow water was perfect. We enjoyed sitting outside in the morning with our coffee and in the evenings we used the grill and patio for dinners. The sunsets are amazing too.
Pros: The house is a five star location and views. Great for families, well stocked. One of the best beaches on an interior lake in Michigan. Great clear water, quiet neighborhood, quiet street.
Cons: The house needs some major updating. Was disappointed in cleanliness, especially compared to other houses that we rent, and especially during Covid. Had to clean ourselves. Dishes, oven, microwave filthy. We felt over all that it is overpriced, even for Michigan’s short rental season. Needs more photos on listing.
Overall: due to the fantastic location we would still recommend this and stay here again. However I would not if the price increases because it is already overpriced.
It was a great location and had a gorgeous view of the lake. Quiet area and close to all shops, restaurants and hiking. But , we would not stay here again. The cleanliness of the house was really bad and it had a smell, probably because of how dirty and dusty it was. I understand a vacation rental isn’t going to be perfect but this went beyond, especially for paying almost 5000 for the week. All the lamp shades and plastic plants were covered in dust. Some areas of the carpet were crunchy. The bedding smelled like “body”. The upholstered furniture was stained. There were several ant traps in the kitchen and 2 fly papers hanging in the kitchen. The kitchen sink was dirty and we had to wash pots and pans before using. The water was so metallic, you couldn’t drink it and you smelled like the water after taking a shower. We did not contact the owner because we were already there and wouldn’t get a refund. If they would have sent a cleaning crew, it would have taken an entire day from us, unfortunately.
This is a spacious place that is comfortable for the whole family. Cozy and love the vibe inside. Great deck in the back for dinners. The lake was perfect.
Home is situated in a beautiful community right on the beach. There is a sand beach area and dock to relax on. We brought inner tubes and rafts to float on. The water is shallow at only 3 to 4 feet out for a good hundred feet so it was ideal for floating and water games.. We enjoyed the firepit at night for smores and Mountain Pies too. Bring blankets for at night it gets a little chilly. The weather is cooler and we loved it. It doesn't get dark till after 10 so long nights sitting outside was ideal. We brought yard games such as Corn hole to play. The Home is stocked with most items you need.. I did bring my own sheets, blankets, towels just because I wanted to. The house is a bit dated like the Brady Bunch but we enjoyed the nostalgia. It was well maintained and clean. It's also quite large with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. It has two wings so you can easily share it with another family. The location is amazing we were in Glen Arbor 8n 15 minutes for shopping, groceries and Cherry Republic. There is great shoppers from clothing, t-shirts, Artist boutiques, book store and souvenirs. The drive is 15 minutes to Sleeping Dunes National Park for hiking, nice drive and beaches. We also enjoyed Fishtown in Leland and a day in Traverse City, both within less than 30 minutes. We actually bought our groceries in Traverse because the prices at Andersons was pricey. So happy we stayed at this beautiful beach house! I had scoured through tons on houses and locations along the Western coast of Michigan. So glad we chose this one!
Though it was October the water and beach were perfect! The water is clear and sandy and perfect for ppl with young kids. The house was quite large with great shared spaces with waterfront views. Had most things you might need and the owner followed up with us after checkin just to be sure all was well. Close to everything, look forward to returning when its warmer in the future!
