ABOUT GOLDEN
Golden offers the scenery of the Canadian Rockies without the crowds of larger resort towns.
Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and national parks, it offers easy access to incredible outdoor experiences without the crowds often found in larger resort destinations.
THE HEIMANN SISTERS
Chalet Heimann was once home to Clara, Johanna, and Martha Heimann, who arrived in Golden in 1912 and became an integral part of the Swiss Guides community. Martha and Johanna later married the Feuz brothers, intertwining the legacies of these pioneering families, while Clara ran the local tea house — a popular spot for climbers and tourists, known for her warm hospitality.
Today, guests can stay in their former home, thoughtfully restored to blend its 1910 origins with modern chalet comforts.
Please note that construction is in progress on the property and may continue through the end of September. All efforts will be made to keep noise between 8 AM and 8 PM.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: • Free parking is directly at the chalet. Additional parking is available throughout the village. • Pets are not allowed. • Smoking is strictly prohibited. • Self check-in is available via secure door code. • A BBQ is also available for guest use. • Fire pits are provided for guests to enjoy. • The chalet is multi-level on a hillside with stairs — guests with limited mobility should plan accordingly. • Golden's downtown core is less than 5 km away. • The sauna is a shared village amenity and requires time to heat before use. • This is not a ski-in/ski-out property.
RESTORATION UPDATE
Edelweiss Village was acquired in 2024 with a commitment to preserving and restoring this remarkable piece of Golden's history. While restoration work continues in select areas of the property, guest stays are rarely impacted.
