Delightful 2-bedroom townhome in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne ECHOPPE

"This is a brilliantly located, comfortably appointed ground floor apartment in a solid town house on the main square in Aubeterre. It is close to all the amenities - shops, cafes, bars, within comfortable walking distance of the beach with its excellent bar and great swimming in the Dronne.The outside space is not attached to the house and is found above the parking place, fifty metres from the house. This made it less useful than it might have been - perhaps a BBQ up there would have made eating outside a possibility!The kitchen was fairly well equipped but there were no instructions for the appliances - the induction hob, the washing machine, the TV. It would have helped to have had a simple guide to how to use these appliances as we spent a bit of time trying to figure it out and had to ask the host how the TV worked!The bedroom and bathroom were really well set up and comfortable. We wondered how it work for two couples with the second bedroom off the first, but we were travelling alone and were able to use the second bedroom as a dressing room.So, overall, we had an enjoyable stay in Aubeterre, right in the heart of the town. If the host addressed some of the issues raised, this would be a five star review."

"Nous avons passé un excellent week-end avec nos amis (réunion de 18 adultes 4 enfants) dans le gîte de Barbara, lors du week-end de Pentecôte.Il est très bien équipé et bénéfice de beaucoup d'atouts (piscine, terrasse couverte par une treille de chèvrefeuille, grande salle à manger et salon très confortable,...).Le contact avec la propriétaire est facile, rapide et très agréable.Nous prévoyons d'y revenir l'an prochain.Marie-Claire et Pierre"

"Lovely traditional farmhouse in a beautiful, quiet rural setting and very dog-friendly. Sandrine is an excellent host, providing us with a delicious dinner and breakfast. Our room & bathroom were spotless and very comfortable. This was our first visit, but we will definitely be back!"

"The farm house is wonderful, well equipped and plenty of space for the 9 of us. The locations is fantastic with the town a short walk away, where there was a Spar, brasserie & Indian restaurant (highly recommended). On arrival the pool was murky and dirty, and we had to clean the day bed sheets, the owner it got sorted with help from a local friend and the hoover was run daily. The air con is only in the main bedroom above the kitchen which was disappointing as the weather was 42 degrees and the other bedrooms were very hot at night. A welcome pack would have been nice to understand the local area more. We discovered a Cognac distillery with free tour of the chateau 10 mins away, which was also fantastic! Overall a great holiday with a few niggles."

"Beautiful gite with all the facilities you could think of. A lovely welcome package of bread, butter, jam, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, eggs and a bottle of sparkling wine. The hosts Fran and Johnny were on hand if needed and very friendly along with their lovely children. The gite was well decorated and very clean. The pool was extremely appreciated in temps of 42 degree.Could not fault anything. Would definitely recommend this holiday home to anyone. Local areas have lots to offer. We will definitely be going back"
