Walk through dense pine forest and climb up to a viewing platform to find a stunning waterfall that produces rainbow-colored mist as it cascades over mossy rocks.

Experience one of Austria’s most beautiful cascades at Gollinger Waterfall (Gollingerwasserfall). Hike through lush pine trees to find the waterfall tumbling spectacularly in the dense Austrian forest. Climb up the rocks to peer inside a vast waterfall cave.

Walk the 10-minute trail over scenic boardwalks and the forest floor, taking in the woodland sights and pine tree scent. The path follows a small brook and passes by an old wooden watermill, standing still and solitary in the forest. Hop over moss-covered rocks and listen for the roar of the waterfall.

The waterfall will leave you awe-struck as it comes into view. The wide cascade tumbles 246 feet (75 meters) over the mossy stones into a deep, clear pool.

Find the path that leads up to a viewing platform halfway up the waterfall. This hike takes approximately 10 minutes and will bring you to the rainbow bridge, where refracted sunlight casts beautiful colors in the waterfall’s mist. Walk along the bridge to see into the waterfall’s source, a dark and mossy cave.

The trail to the base of Gollinger Waterfall is an easy walk but the forest floor is not easily accessible with a wheelchair or pram. The hike up to the viewing area is more challenging and the rocks can become slippery. Wear sturdy shoes. You may also need a light rain jacket. Take care with your photographic equipment under the waterfall’s spray.

Gollinger Waterfall is located in the forested area of Torren, just under 2 miles (3 kilometers) from Golling an der Salzach. Visit Gollinger Waterfall on a day trip from Salzburg, approximately 19 miles (30 kilometers) away.

Free parking is available at the beginning of the trail. Purchase Gollinger Waterfall admission tickets from the small hut a short walk from the car park. Allow up to 2 hours for the return trip. Visit Gollinger Waterfall between May and October when the river is fullest.
