We had a terrible time at chef wondims. He tried to sell us a tour and when another operator gave us a price $100 cheaper he pitched a fit until the other operator said they wouldn’t take us. The hostel is dirty and our room has banana peels and other garbage in it. The shower had hair in it and the room was partly flooded. WiFi did not work at all. We had a terrible stay here and would not recommend it.

not recommended at all!!

they did not keep the room reservation for us.it was festival time and they gave the room to someone else offered us a tent on the grass ( no mattress ). made us wait long time and behaved very bad. it looks nice in the picture but all around is tents and many people.

Great place to stay in Gondar.

I enjoyed my stay here. The facilities were okay and my room was very comfortable. I really liked the owners and staff and I had the most relaxed time. It was also a good place to meet other travellers. The wifi and the location were very good and the garden was really enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious too. It was a pleasure to meet Wondim and his brother who were very kind and warm hosts.

Mala estancia en Wondim

El sitio ya sabíamos que era básico pero teníamos esperanzas de que fuera limpio, pero no fue así, tanto el baño compartido como el privado están sucios y en un pésimo estado. No hay presión en el agua y uno de los dias no había agua y es que el depósito se había vaciado y nadie se dio cuenta, tuvimos problemas durante el Timkat porque Wondim no nos quería mantener nuestras reserva de 2 meses antes para sacar más dinero, finalmente la discusión sirvió para que se atuviera a razoned. Servicio malo ya que ni nos hicieron la habitación en 4 días que estuvimos. No recomendaría a ningún amigo, si a algún enemigo.

Pancakes at breakfast were great. The room was clean but the bathroom had a lot of water around the toilet because it was right next to the shower. Power was out one afternoon for a few hours but not sure if that was due to a wider city power cut or just the hostel turning the power off. I ordered a transfer from the airport which never arrived (although I had confirmed it with the hostel two days before I arrived) but it was simple enough to get a taxi from the airport instead.

Not safe for women

The place it's self is fine, but there was an incident there involving a guest (a girl) being harrased by one of the workers and the owner. The worker kept coming into her room and telling her how beautiful she was. The owner repeatedly messaged her asking for a drink and how beautiful she was. Eventually we all went to her room and she swapped with one of the other guys room. To stay with somone else. The place is run like a boys club, there's lots of guys always hanging out.
