Beautiful home!
The house we perfect for a little family getaway. Private little area for us to all hang out and visit Acadia NP. The property is closer to Schoodic Peninsula than the main area of Acadia but the Peninsula was beautiful and peaceful! The house was clean, organized and matched the description!

Nice spot off the beaten path
Everything we needed was there. Minutes from Acadia park on Schoodic point. 40 minutes from main Acadia park on Mount desert isle, Bar Harbor and Cadillac mountain. Very secluded. Weather was perfect.

Perfect Secluded Hideaway For Our Family
As soon as we stepped foot into the house, we were very pleased. We loved the open floor plan and the beautiful deck. We enjoyed playing baggo on the deck before the mosquitoes came out. It was also nice getting up early and sitting on the deck with coffee. My sister rented nearby and visited and we had a nice lobster dinner as the kids played video games (my nephews brought from home) downstairs on the large screen tv. The open floor plan allowed for us to enjoy one another with conversation, board games, and laughs. The host, Amy, knew we were in the area on the day of check-in and told us we could check in early which was greatly appreciated. She also told us of some fishing spots. Our day trips included walking along Winter Harbor/Schoodic Point, antique shopping at 1A Relic, shopping in Ellsworth boutiques, meeting up with a lobsterman for local lobsters and crabs, and of course, Bar Harbor & Acadia (Cadillac Mountain for sunset & Jordan Pond). People on other reviews mentioned that the house was hot and that the sun came through the livingroom windows which they felt should have blinds or curtains. Let it be noted that there is now an A/C system throughout the house and the air was very comfortable. And I love that the windows are kept uncovered as the scenery is beautiful in the back woods. We were constantly looking out the windows for wildlife.

Very nice house in the woods
The property accommodated my family and small dog very well. We enjoyed our stay. The fact that it was August in the Maine woods meant that mosquitos were everywhere outside, but, that was expected. We spent most of our time in Acadia National Park by the ocean, so, it wasn’t a problem.

The driveway is very difficult to find, particularly in the dark. If it weren’t for google we might not have found it. Glow in the dark numbers on the mailbox would help. House was quite nice, roomy and comfortable. Extra quiet!

Quiet location away from busy tourist areas
What we loved - the interior of the house was clean, plenty of linens, spacious enough for 4 adults and two teens, appliances all worked well, individual cooling systems for different rooms allowed people to set rooms to their comfort levels, beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with all of the equipment we needed and it was back off the road making for a quiet setting but close enough to make getting around easy. Loved being on this side of the park and Schoodic Point at sunset was my favorite part of the trip along with the close trail at Taft Preserve that I drove to so I could walk the dogs. What could use some help - the bright afternoon sunlight through the large windows in the living space (not sure how the owner would get around that though due to the size of windows and shape and it was only an issue on an afternoon or two when we weee home) and the early morning light through windows with sheer curtains or no coverings in the bedrooms. Bring your masks to sleep or pickup some souvenirs ones in Bar Harbor - worked like a charm for my teens. There was also a vast amount of bugs including mosquitos that made it impossible to enjoy the deck or walk the dogs on the property. The pictures online did not show the overgrown vegetation outside the basement slider or around the property (I think they may have been taken when it was new). I would not recommend this property during seasons when the bugs are bad if you have pets or if you plan on sitting outside with a book or playing outdoor games. The grill was also small and needed a good cleaning. When cooking for 6 people we had to cook in shifts which worked out ok, but due to the bug situation we only used it twice. Overall I would stay here again, but not during the part of the season when bugs are bad, especially mosquitos.

Read before booking! Not all that.
Difficult to find. Wasn't labeled very well. Not even enough hot water for even one bathtub. We had to space out showers. Grill was not as shown. Very small. Not allowed to use Fireplace. Misleading. Cornhole bags are molded. Can't use it. Wifi is weak. So don't plan on watching anything but the circle of death. Fan was very dusty. Other than that it was fine. It did the job.

Beautiful and Clean
We had an amazing week in Maine visiting Acadia and surrounding areas. We were blown away with how beautiful and clean this property is, I highly recommend it. The pictures do not do it justice. The reviews mentioning supplies and temperature are not accurate at least as the property is now. There is room by room heating and cooling and we found the supplies to be adequate.

Appr 30 miles to bar harbor one way. Spot is isolated. Very quiet. Beautiful home. Living room upper window could use window treatment to keep sun out of eyes in afternoon. Some of the mattresses are awfully thin to point of uncomfortable. Could use a better set of dishes. I bought a new set of pots and pans. Much needed. Really enjoyed our week. I think cost was was appropriate for location. I would stay again.

Great solitude
After a long day of hiking it was refreshing to come back to a quiet relaxing home. The deck was large and has a great view. The kitchen was lacking some things.(lids for pots, microwave dishes, large sheet pans.) The grill was smaller than we expected but we were still able to enjoy it.

Rural and Remote -- Needs some TLC and a lot of cleaning
The house was very nice .. a little remote but extremely peaceful. Our main concern was the lack of cleanliness...long dog hair everywhere .. even between the travel brochures on the kitchen counter. The sofa was filthy...and even the sheets had dog hair in them. The kitchen was dirty and I had to wash utensils prior to using because the inside of the drawers was so dirty. I have a property I rent through VRBO and my mainstay is cleanliness. It's a shame .. such a nice house .. the property owner should look into a different cleaning service.

Nice place...very secluded
Nice, secluded and comfortable. Our family of 8 adults (and a dog) had a great stay. One minor issue...the jacuzzi tub did not work well...not enough hot water to fill the tub, and the jets would shoot water out of the tube onto the floor if it was not full. But that was minor inconvenience. We had a wonderful time there. The seclusion has its positives and negatives... Wonderfully quiet and peaceful, but a 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor.

Nice house, needs a little love to make it great
We stayed at this well built house during a hot, hot spell and the heat seriously detracted from our experience. The house has a beautiful wall of windows, that in 80+ degree heat means that the entire living space and kitchen area are HOT. Uncomfortably so. The owner has supplied good fans and two of the three bedrooms have A/C units. The finished basement stays cool and has a comfortable sectional and gigantic TV. Window coverings on the main floor would probably help. The house is clean and new, but so spartan as to be uncomfortable. There are three bowls, five plates, one wine glass, etc. Get ready to hand wash frequently if you're cooking for more than two. Owner seems really attentive and kind. A bit more "stuff" in the house would make it more comfortable.

Lovely hideaway
We stayed here with friends who also have small children. The home was perfect for what we needed - kitchen to cook (all the pots/pans/utensils), space to relax, laundry. Short drive to winter harbor and tidal falls, and many nearby hikes. We did make the drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor (roughly 1 hr) which was a pleasant drive. The house itself is in a bit of a rural area, so plan ahead for meals and supplies.

Beautiful and private chalet
This was my second time staying in this home, so I knew exactly what to expect. It is super private and quiet and the home was exceptionally clean. We enjoyed our visit to Acadia and although the setting here is remote, nothing is too far and the drives are easy to navigate. The only issue we had was one that we had before. The living area gets entirely too hot on a warm day, as there are no windows to open and it gets quite stuffy. There was no portable unit in there, just in one downstairs bedroom and also the bedroom upstairs had 2 window units. Since we were seldom in the house, it was not really a problem except for one afternoon when we were in the home. I just went into the upstairs bedroom because that is the coolest room in the house. That being said, the property is beautiful and I would recommend the home to anyone who wants a new and gorgeous chalet to stay in! We would absolutely stay there again if we were in the area.

Beautiful Acadia!
The property is extremely nice, in a quiet wooded area. It was centrally located to all we wanted to see—went into Bar Harbor, took the 26 mile scenic drive of Acadia Park from there, we also took the Schoodic Peninsula drive (beautiful and not as full of tourists as Bar Harbor area). And we went to several lobster co-ops to get fresh lobster, steamers and oysters (which we took back to our place and prepared for dinner the 3 nights we were there). Corea was our favorite place toget lobster, right off the fisherman’s boat. Cannot get any fresher than that! The property was comfortable and very accommodating.

Private, comfortable and clean!
We made the (sometimes arduous) trek from the Boston suburbs to the West Bay Stream Cottage for our annual August family vacation. The cottage couldn’t have been better for our big (4 boys and 2 large dogs) family. The house is large enough that everyone has much needed space but cozy enough to draw us together. We hiked in Acadia but also enjoyed some local trails in Sullivan and Gouldsboro. The kids loved swimming in Little Tunk Pond and at Sand Beach. Amy was fantastic from our initial contact in February. The photos don’t really do the house justice. It’s truly spectacular. Our stay was so great, the kids asked if we could spend Christmas there as well.

Private and clean
The chalet was private, relaxing, and clean. It was a newer build so you have all the amenities like a great kitchen, tile in the bathrooms, an amazing finished basement( doubled the size of common area). There was a lot of items already there like hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, coffee and filters, salt/pepper, paper towels, laundry soap, dryer sheets, and more. Not sure if it was supplied by owner or left by past guests but wahoo for the next person:) The owner had left tons of brochures of the surrounding attractions and a book of clear instructions for the house so that was great. The owner was also very accommodating when we wanted to add a last minute guest. The house was what we were looking for and worked for all 6 of us with plenty of room and then some. It was great to come “home” to after exploring everyday. We would stay again if we came back to the area. I hate to even mention it because the house was great, feels like nit picking, but there was 6 washcloths for 6 people so would be great to have more just to wash your face or whatever. Also, 5 dinner plates for 6 people and coffee saucers. We just bought paper plates and did laundry a lot. Not the end of world just a heads up. Overall just a great, relaxing time for our family to make some memories! Thank you so much to the owners for sharing their home!

Great place, great host
Amy was excellent from my first contact. She helped me with all my questions before the trip started and responded very promptly to all my questions and concerns. The place is huge and was more than enough for our party of 4 including our dog. Will certainly recommend to anyone who needs a well-deserved respite in the Down East Maine. Amy, thanks for being such a great host!
