About this property
Sweet Getaway House Close to all the best Arizona has to offer
Dream getaway cabin/house with incredible views close to the best Arizona has to offer. The 3 acre property borders the Kaibab National Forest and is home to the highest remaining density and distribution of old growth ponderosa pines in the Southwest. A gorgeous view of the San Francisco Peaks and Snowbowl is seen from the front deck and living room and a perfect view of Mt. Kendrick from the yard. This high-country retreat is fully connected with STARLINK wi-fi, direct -TV with HBO on a flat screen tv, and cell-phone reception on Verizon or forward your calls to the land line. Peace, quiet and solitude is built-in or take a short drive to: Flagstaff (30min) with it’s great college-town vibe, shopping and nightlife; Sedona (45min) with the stunning beauty of the red rocks, Oak Creek and art galleries; or Williams, (30min) the gateway to the Grand Canyon with it’s old-school Route 66 charm. Just minutes off of I-40 and only 1 hour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, glimpses of which can be seen up a hill a 10 min hike from the front door.
The house has a huge king size bed in the lower main bedroom and a queen in the upstairs loft. There is cushy queen blow up mattress for extra sleepers. There are 2 full private bathrooms one upstairs and one down. The kitchen is really nice, relaxing to cook in and fully stocked with everything a home chef would desire. Toss a ball with your kids in the yard or sprawl out on the comfortable southwest furniture in front of the wood-burning stove and enjoy the view. Cozy and romantic yet spacious enough for 2+ couples or a sizeable family.
Nature is poetry here. Fields of wildflowers in the summer and magical snow in the winter. The wildlife is bountiful: herds of elk and mule deer are seen roaming the meadows most every evening. It is a birders paradise- one afternoon brought 17 different birds to the feeder. Some of Arizona’s best day hikes are a short drive away. There are many things to do in the area including the Historic Grand Canyon Railway, Bearizona, the Grand Canyon Deer Farm, Snow Bowl, Lowell Observatory, N. Arizona Nordic Center, Elk Ridge Sledding Area, Sedona Pink Jeep Tours and a lot more. Stay here and unwind with the fresh mountain air and spectacular views or make it an exceptional base camp for fun and adventure!

The cabin backs up to National Park land giving lots of options for hikes and wildlife viewing. The cabin was cute, well kept and well-stocked. There are neighbors but the neighborhood is quiet.
My son and grandson and I were on an elk hunting trip. The property was a perfect perfect location for us smack dab in the middle of our hunt unit. The cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed. We had a great time there. Thank you for everything.
Very comfortable home. Loved sitting out on the porch and relishing in the cool temperatures. Directions were perfect and property owner was very nice.
We had a very nice stay in Parks. The cabin is very cozy and comfortable. Travelling around the high country of AZ was very convenient from this location. Don't hesitate to book if you like a rural and quiet setting. Peter is also very helpful and responsive.
I stayed at the property with my two daughters (17 & 20) and our two dogs. It is in a beautiful setting but close to Flagstaff, WIlliams, and the Grand Canyon. The cottage was well stocked with linens and cooking tools. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and plan to come back next year!
Such a beautiful property! We received good directions and found the house pretty easily. The house was very comfortable and right on the edge of the national forest so very quiet. There were neighbors so you’re not completely secluded. Stop in flagstaff and get groceries on your way to the house.
It was a great place. Very close to Williams and about an hour or so from the Grand Canyon. It took us 2.5 hours to get to the Phoenix Airport. The house is just as it appears and have everything we needed. The property owner could have responded to requests a little quicker but other than that the check in went very smoothly.

Not a place for 6.
The day before host called and said 6 adults will be tight. And there maybe an air mattress in closet.
We made it work but no air mattress and we woke up to no water.

Nice place but too far from the Grand Canyon, South Rim.
Nice place but too far from the Grand Canyon, South Rim. With the amount of house rental per night, garage wasn't included. We had to pay $5/bag.

Off the beaten path and rough around the edges.
We picked this Home Away house based on reviews as we had with our other HomeAway rentals. Unfortunately this one did not meet our expectations. After paying our final payment the owner sent us an info sheet on the house that if we had read before hand probably would have dissuaded us from renting this property. But we went in with an open mind and determined to make the best of it. The main reason we picked this property was it's location close to Grand Canyon and other neighboring attractions. What we didn't realize was that several of the roads surrounding the property were deemed "primitive" roads and were very rough- especially towards the end of our stay. The cabin itself could use a deep clean and refresh. Several items were showing wear, broken closet and blind in main bedroom, torn pillows and dirty area rugs. Cobwebs and dust covered a lot of the house. We were staying during a week of record heat and really missed having a/c in the house. Fans did not do much good until til very late/early when the temps came down. When we arrived the windows had been opened, but this just highlighted the bug problem in this area of the woods. every manner of flying insect found it's way into the cabin and we spent the week fighting them all. The house has a water pump the shut off half a dozen times sometimes mid shower, every though we took them sparingly. Things that I think other travelers should know before booking this property. No garbage service- we hauled trash out every day to where ever we were going. The property sits on a free range of sorts, dealing with cows in the road was a daily occurrence. We did not have phone service with ATT - so our only connection with the outside world was through the house wifi, which was severely limited and very slow. Not a fault of the cabin, but there was also fires burning on the mountain which made for hazy days so views were obscured.
The surrounding area is beautiful and the neighbors we met were met were helpful and friendly. We had fun at the Grand Canyon and the other places we visited.
Very peaceful setting only 1.5 hours from the Grand Canyon south rim!
We absolutely LOVED this home! Our family of five stayed there while visiting the Grand Canyon, and it was the perfect place to relax after hiking. The home is in a remote area with beautiful views. We couldn't get over how quiet it was there! It is a unique house and my kids loved sleeping in the loft area. Definitely recommend this home!
house was was well equipped, i would change out the recliner! on furnishings .easy access to grand canyon!!. went to the skywalk (over rated) plus 3.5 hr drive 1 way. Neighbor's were a little closer but we would stay again. Thanks for the use of your place!!

Great cabin! Everything you need.
There were issues with communication in the check in process, so that set us back on our visit but we were offered an extra night to help make up the missed time. Everything was clean, nice and had everything needed in case you just stayed at the cabin. We were gone during the days, out sightseeing and had a wonderful time. The little red country store just off I-40 had farm fresh eggs available for your breakfast. I highly recommend this cabin and Mr. Scafaru was a great host.
We stayed 3 nights and drove two different days to the Grand Canyon, approximately an hour 1/2 away. The property is a rual area west of Flagstaff. Lots of trees and a few homes. Nicely stocked, very clean and comfortable. Nice quiet area with nice space to sit outside. 2nd bedroom and bath is in an upstairs loft. We had a wonderful stay.
