There was no lift but the staff did carry the bags up stairs. Only small negative was there were too many dos and don’ts notices in the room.

"I spent Midsummer on Visningsö and stayed at Wisningsö Hotell & Konferens. While the island is small, indeed, the hotel lies in the midst of it and offers a really good location. This is a high quality hotel, and I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are divided into their own 'villas' and remind me of a cottage village. Charming! Clean and updated. Hotel Gyllene Uttern

"The main building of the Gyllene Uttern looks like a Scandinavian castle. Perched high above Lake Vättern, it has a grand view of the lake, whether from a large terrace, one of its several lounging spaces, a glassed-in dining room, or from rooms facing the lake. It also has a baronial dining room, in which the very good breakfast buffet is laid out. We dined there in the evening, as well, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed comfortable suites overlooking the lake. The one disadvantage is that the old, castle-like hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying up luggage a challenge, especially as we three couples were of ages 60 to 82. There was no indication of staff to assist with the luggage, which is the reason I gave "Staff & Service" 4 stars instead of 5. It has two newer two-story auxiliary buildings, which do have elevators. We have stayed in these before. The rooms are very comfortable, but not as charming as staying in a pseudo castle. "
