A family stay

A nice family stay, quiet village pub. The host was very helpful including recommending an evening meal in the next village which was great (fighting cocks pub). It seems the venue has stopped doing food, but having said that she still provided us with a perfectly good breakfast. The room was clean, a nice little street village view, we all slept well. Great for country walking, a family visit and somewhere quieter in a local pub.

Good place to stay

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. It is off the beaten track but easy to find with GPS. The food was very good. The service was very good and the manageress was the most pleasant person you could wish to meet.

Our welcome was fine and kind since we were early. They kindly invited us to eat fish and chips from a local van - no food on Mondays we hadn’t noticed, in the bar with a lovely fire and a drink. Had to replace outside light but done immediately. Lavatory seat broken, told them,

Room was dirty with sweet wrapper bits on the floor. Had not seen a Hoover or a duster recently. Tired decor and furniture. Certainty not the deluxe room we had booked. Bath was dirty and needed to be cleaned before use. only one set of towels in the room. Despite booking for 2 people. Breakfast was at 9am not from or too...AT!

We went to the wrong High Street. Our fault. However, the staff waited for us on a late arrival. The bed was really comfortable and the full English breakfast was excellent. Thank you.

Highly recommended!! What lovely people and beautiful village. Just off the A1, but far enough away to escape to an idyllic village. Great breakfast too. Close to Woolsthorpe. We'll definitely be back 👍😁

The Royal Oak is the an absolute gem. Set in a beautiful little village with very friendly locals. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made our stop over a delight. We dined in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. The rooms were very clean and quiet which is what you want after a long drive. I’d definitely recommend to all. Thank you for having us.

Comfortable room with nice new bathroom . Very good food which was made fresh and piping hot Pleasant staff who were very welcoming . Good parking facilities . . The pub itself is ‘oldy worldy’ and is situated in a quiet rural village but would benefit from some updating in the bar/restaurant .

Remarkably good inn, in a remarkably good location, with remarkably good food and extraordinarily nice hosts. In summary, The Royal Oak is English rural culture at its very best. It is something a hotel chain can never be. The inn is exactly what I imagined an inn or pub should be. It's located at the centre of a smallish village in a very quiet rural area. Inside it has been refreshed and was done with great effect. It still has the low old ceiling beams, stone fireplace and wood panelled walls but has plenty of natural light. The overall effect is great. The inn's chef is a magician. The food was exceptional and presented in a way that would not be out of place in a 5 star restaurant. It really was that good. I encourage every one to visit and enjoy a meal there. The rooms were comfortable, warm, with easy access. And they were super quiet. The bathroom was a good size and there was plenty of hot water. The most extraordinary thing was the hosts. They are among the most friendly, down to earth people we have meet. They are genuinely friendly, engaging, and humble people. Without them, our experience at the Royal Oak would not have been so memorable. They have our ongoing appreciation.

From check in to check out, we were made to feel very welcoming. Were shown to the bedroom, with everything explained. Food was great, with plenty of chiices and excellent waitrrss service. Price wasnt bad either. Drinks aplenty with good selection of gins and beers. Breakfast was excellent too with various selections and a full English thats to last for almost the whole day! Overall great experience and will definitively recommend to anyone.

Nice little pub serving great food. Unfortunately the bath in my room sprung a leak. After spending 30mins trying to clear up the bathroom I informed the staff, however I was disappointed when they did not offer to put me in another room, or come to look at the issue.

Little gem in glorious countryside

Breakfast was to die for, and the Steak and Stilton pie was the best pie my husband has ever eaten!!!The room was spacious and the staff welcomed us as long lost friends. Small niggles in such an old building with plumbing, and time to get shower water hot, but very minor overall. Great value price for a couple. Have already booked a return visit.
