the animation team makes a huge difference in the experience. I just stayed in another all inclusive hotel and even though the hotel had way better facilities and service thanks to the animation team, i got the feeling i had better holiday in this hotel in rhodos

Absolutely loved my solo stay here!
Absolutely loved my stay at Sunshine Rhodes. Stayed in a beautiful apartment, the resort was amazing, the food was the tastiest, the staff were so lovely and accommodating, it was the perfect, relaxing holiday break I needed! The only negatives for me was that the air con in the room was not available where they are turned off from October 1st, which didn't seem to be clear when I booked, but having the balcony door open at night sufficed. Secondly the residential houses surrounding the resort seem to all have dogs which all barked and howled frequently - one house behind Hermes apartment block had a very large, extremely fluffy dog who barked and howled frequently (who was probably just hot and in distress being left outside a lot sadly). So the external resort noises were sometimes a bit disruptive of the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the resort. Thirdly, would have liked to have seen more recycling bins around the resort for the plastic cups and straws that are given out for refreshments, but otherwise loved it!

The pictures of this property are very deceiving. The hotel and rooms are very run down and could do with some renovation. The food options were not great, unfriendly staff, door locks in rooms not working, broken showers, leaking ceiling, no ironing facilities, some of the rooms are a 10 min walk from the main reception building, nearby beach very pebbly with hardly any sand, the list can go on and on.

We reported a leak in the shower which caused the floor to be very wet, but this was never addressed, even after a couple of visits from the hotel technician. House keeping didn't mop the shower floor and change/change the wet towels on the floor the last 3 day. In addition, house keeping didn't change the bedding either. management came once after numerous complaints, but all we got was an apology, but nothing was addressed. Totally unacceptable. We will never visit this property again.

Although the pool area and beach are nice, the hotel is old dated and dirty. The food is awful, plates cups not clean. No fresh juices all sugary concentrate and local brand soft drinks. The hotel rooms have ants in them, they smell from the toilet and the beds r so u comfortable. Towels are not changed daily and the rooms cleaned every two days. Very noisy from the bar where there are parties and discos. Really deceiving from the pictures. I do not recommend

The property is vety close to Rhodes, which is great. Also, the nature, weather and warm sea made the holidays very good. The hotel is quite old and the furniture as well, which is a bit disappointing. It could be cleaner in the rooms as well as the bedfong was cha hed only once in 10 days we stayed there. Face towels never and large bath towels once. Beach towels are changed every 3 days whereas in other resorts it is daily. Lots of the things there are to be improved but the staff was always very helpful and friendly.

i liked that i had a balcony and sea view. the people were nice and the activities they had for people.. i didnt like how they didnt have wall plugss for foreigners. The shower glass was short so the bathroom floor stay wet the beach was horrible full of rocks .. and they have no bell hop so you have to drag your suitcase by yourself to your room

Great hotel, amazing holiday
I visited the hotel in September’18. The overall experience was great. Hotel room was very good and spacious, also very clean. The pool and beach very easily accessible. As we had a lie in most days, we were left with only a few sunlounges left to choose from (more available on the beach, than by the pool) but it was good enough for us. The food was always very lovely, good variety. Staff very friendly and helpful. One thing I was missing was a bit of an active entertainment. Most holiday makers were keeping themselves to themselves and I thought if there was a good animation team, people could get more involved and interact a little more. This would be my only comment for an improvement- more entertainment during the day and in the evenings. And music by the pool :). The area around hotel was also great. A few lovely restaurants and bars, souvenir shops and car/moto hires. All in all 4,5 out of 5. Thank you for a fantastic holiday. We had a great relaxing time and weather was absolutely fabulous too.

Wonderful holiday for a small family
We had read mixed reviews but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The buffet food for the all-you-can-eat served all our needs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We loved the pool, pool bar and I did Aqua Gym everyday. It was right in the midst of a bigger resort but you could choose to cut yourself off from that at the hotel, or walk out and join in. We couldn't really fault anything.

Avoid this hotel if your not a chav!!!
Disappointed in this hotel, firstly our room was not ready until after 3.30pm, and then when we did get to the room the cleaner was still inside. We were given two single beds joint together even though it was our anniversary and they were aware of this!!! The hotel was full of chavs, swearing in front of children and drinking excessively. The food is produced on a mass basis, therefore the quality is crap and watered down, as well as the alcohol. We complained to the front desk manager (Papos) who was not very forthcoming and had no sympathy. He finally agreed to give us a new room after two days. Long story short, we had all inclusive and not once did we have any of the food. The rest is for you to decide!!!

Had concerns before we arrived as the reviews were very concerning. We went as far as locating alternate accommodation if it was as bad as some had reported. Our experience was mixed. We found the staff very friendly and hard working. Our rooms (316 & 317) were very spacious and comfortable. I agree they do need upgrading, particularly the bathrooms however they weren't awful. The beds were comfortable with clean sheets and towels provided daily. The pool areas and beach areas were cleaned and tidied both at the end and beginning of each day. Again it needs investment as quality of sunbeds, parasols and beach towels are very poor. However, the biggest criticism we had was the catering. The food is of a very poor quality and repetitive and the drinks are unrecognisable (both soft and alcoholic) . There is insufficient space to cater for the number of guests. The restaurant experience is awful. Despite the temperatures being in the 40s there was no air conditioning. On the few occasions we did eat in, we couldn't wait to leave. The serving areas could be untidy and the overall experience chaotic, however, the biggest culprit of this element was aggreaive and rude guests not the hotel. The hotel has potential but needs investment. The staff are a credit to the hotel, it is a shame the owners aren't matching their commitment. Outside the hotel you are spoiled for choice for restaurants and bars.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel
We did not book this resort. Due to an Expedia mistake, our original booking canceled one day before our reservation and we got thrown into this hotel with no other option. The food is TERRIBLE. It has 1 buffet restaurant. That serves the same food-literally, didn't change the bread the 4 days we were there. So lunch and dinner are the same thing. The lines are absolutely crazy and they constantly run out of food because they have limited food hours. This is in NO WAY an all inclusive. The staff is so unfriendly. Any time we would ask something, they would snap a basic answer to us that usually was inaccurate and did not help. The rooms were very dirty and disgusting. I honestly didn't want to use the shower. The beach is full of rocks and unusable. Needless to say, we were very disgusted with this hotel.

Easy access to a lot of amenities
Good hotel in terms of price not top notch if that's what u want but has everything else. E.g close to beach, amenities, airport, getting rhodes town is only approx 15 mins. Has all amenities in hotel which r all basic. Only thing is they turned off air con in Oct and it was still warm and the variety of food was good but a bit of change would've been good daily.

Good location, next to lovely beach but unfortunately directly under the very noisy flight path!! Large complex, lift accommodates one person at a time. Food in the main terrible, unlabelled and unidentifiable. Breakfast was the best of the worst!! Alcoholic and soft drinks very poor quality and always served in plastic. Probably the worst all inclusive I have experienced. Bathroom was disgusting. Towels grey and stained and bedding filthy and infrequently changed. Shower leaked and floor never cleaned. We were informed that the hotel tumble drier had broken down mid week and having contacted reception for the umpteenth time for fresh bedding and towels, we had wet sheets put onto the bed. When we asked for clean, dry sheets at midnight, we were handed the sheets ourselves and left to make the beds ourselves. Expensive Wi-Fi (€10/day), although free in reception area only. Poor communication between staff. We were told on arrival that the "fine dining" Italian restaurant could only be booked the day before - so we were surprised that it was full for the entire week when we tried to follow instructions and book the day before. Apparently it should have been booked at the time of arrival.

All hotel staff were very pleasant and the lady on reception was very helpful and professional, particularly when we forgot our iPad in the room and she orangeades a taxi to bring it to the airport for us. Hotel grounds are well kept. Limited focus for kids between the ages of 8 - 16 other than football and this was again a let down as the teams were mixed with adults as was the water polo which put off this age group getting involved.

Honeymoon holiday. Changed room as TV was not as described (tiny) and room was old and again not as described (decor). Was also charged 60 euros for wifi which was advertised as free. Reception staff extremely rude, especially the manager. Next room had a great room, bathroom disgusting with mould. Also a MASSIVE hazard as the shower screen allows water to flood the bathroom which we fell on TWICE! Engineer had to come and fix air con twice as firstly wouldn't work then when working, extremely noisy. Also had to fix front door as was jamming shut and had to be either slammed or yanked open. Fruit basket delivered (knocked and entered WITHOUT INVITATION IN) and remaining uneaten fruit left for days by cleaners despite being mouldy. Unable to get pool towels for 3 days. Reception again rude and unhelpful continually saying would be delivered next day. Pool bar electricity down so unable to get drinks. Went to snack bar and explained and requested coffee there instead, manager asked ME why the electricity was down and that I should go back to the pool bar. Idiot. Could go on and on... DO NOT STAY HERE if your expecting anything 4 star and above. Ps if you English, you cannot watch tv as all the channels are every other language except English as well as The staff

Excellent efficienties, staff and entreatments! Food was all right. There are 2 restaurants where you can go only one time each; we didn't have a chance to go at the "Mamma Mia" Italian restaurant, because, since we got there, it was fully booked. I don't think it s fair when you pay over 1300€. Hopefully someone else is luckier!

1st holiday in years staff were friendly and polite.Entertainment was good.Weather that week was not so nice, would have done some excursions but I got the flu, but did have a good time. The best parts of the resort would have to be the pools, and the entertainment staff. Anna, Sebastian, Aga, Pauline & Marvin were great. They made our stay, and always tried encouraging us and other guests to get involved with activities throughout each day :) On the other hand, although the room was described as having a sea view, it was disappointing to get out on the balcony to find two huge trees in the way of it. In addition, after finding 2 cockroaches in the room this made us doubt the cleanliness of the room too! Food in the restaurant was nice, however it never varied, which became a little boring towards the end of our stay.

Great entertainment, hotel needs a facelift.
The Sunshine Rhodes (or Calimera hotel as they call it) is the oldest hotel in Ialyssos, built in 1970, and it is showing it's age so don't expect modern rooms and facilities. It could do with a facelift in places. The beds in our room dipped in the middle and the non effective air condition made strange noises and a burning smell before I abandoned it. There are newer blocks on the complex which looked better from the outside but they do not overlook the beach. They are the bad points - read on . . . The location is beautiful. Near the beach with well maintained pools, bars and gardens between. There are tennis courts, cheap bike hire, volley ball, 5 aside football, table tennis for the sporty (but take your own bats / rackets as those supplied are rubbish). The staff are really helpful and grateful of your custom. The food is generally good and varied but gets a bit monotonous after a few days (like all all-in holidays). Food and drink is available from several places on site almost continuously. There are plenty of good well priced restaurants five minutes walk along the main street into town if you need a change. The entertainment is excellent. I am not normally one for the Heidi Hi treatment and usually avoid the entertainment police but on this holiday I could not help but get involved. The animation staff were truly international and spoke several languages, getting everyone involved with sports, games, dancing and drinking. The stage shows . .

Location of the hotel excellent, overall not to bad, but no hot water in hotel one day had to have cold showers, hotel staff showed little empathy! Bathroom drains smell awful and bath needed replacing. Room itself pleasant big and spacious. Hotel starting to look s little tired in places, it shows current Greek economy having an effect! Love Rhodes but investment now needed, come Greece sort yourselves out or you will lose your tourism industry too!

We stayed at this hotel for 14 nights. Lovely place, great location. Food nice, staff friendly but room not very clean, we had to call the reception as the AC and shower were not working. There was no satellite as stated in the description and all the gym equipment was broken. However we had a pleasant stay, big swimming pools, nice beach and very close to the town and airport.

What a wonderful vacation at Sunshine!
I had a wonderful vacation at Sunshine Rhodes. The walkways from the buildings lead right to the beach. The staff was very courteous and helpful. It's geared towards couples and families and there are plenty of activities right on the premises. I spent most of my time partying around the island and coming back to an all-inclusive resort made things so much simpler. The property has some minor fit and finish problems such as excess paint, damaged outdoor furnishings, and a woeful outdoor gym. But the rest makes up for it. It's away from the hussle and bustle of the main city. One can spent the day at the beach laying on a towel, catching the rays, with good company and drinks.

Quiet satisfying.
We passed great 5 days in Sunshine Rhodes. Everything was good except meals. Our muslim friends were disappointed, near all the meals are made from pork. Beside this i reccomend this hotel to all.
