8.8/10 Excellent! (97 reviews)
We enjoyed our stay in Shanghai, and the highlight of this hotel was undoubtedly the location. Our room overlooked the Bund, with easy access to the shops, river cruises and transport links, making it a fantastic base for exploring the city.
The room was clean and modern, although it was on the small side. The large coffee table next to the bed and the fridge made the space feel even more cramped. With three suitcases, we found it almost impossible to open them without putting them on the bed, which was quite inconvenient.
The complimentary mini bar was a nice touch, but with only one of each drink provided, it wasn't particularly practical for two people.
The hotel layout was also a little unusual, with reception on the 7th floor and guest rooms up to the 13th, while the rest of the building was occupied by other companies. Although the hotel is advertised as a 4.5-star property, the overall layout and feel didn't quite deliver the sense of luxury we were expecting.
Overall, the location is excellent and really makes this hotel worth considering, but the room size, layout and little details let it down slightly. A great place to stay for exploring Shanghai, but perhaps not quite the luxury experience the star rating suggests.
