Very nice

Enjoyed our stay at gulf shores as always. Room was nice and clean and right by the hangout which was what we were looking for. Beach view was great and access to chairs and umbrella for a small fee on beach was excellent too. Would def stay again.

Spring Break getaway

It was perfect for our needs. Beautiful view of the beach. Plently of space for one adult and 2 teenagers. Nice location. We enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants and go shopping. Would definitely stay again.

May 2024 Beach Get-away

This property is convenient to restaurants, and the room is a beach front property. One elevator but it was very quick with 9 floors in the building. Had a box for beach toys, where the kids could use them and put them back after using them. The pool was nice and clean, with a L-shape for shade from the sun. The parking was tight for a 2500 truck, but made it work. The only thing, when we entered the room, we noticed a damp smell, but they had a dehumidifier and we kept it emptied and sprayed some air freshener and it was fine. Great communication from the owners. Great Place to stay!

Unclean, outdated, and only one trash bag , one roll in two bathrooms of toilet paper for for 5 guest all week , we had to purchase more. Called asked for dishwasher tabs took two days to receive. No beach towels had to purchase those as well the towels there were small . I wish this was a different review but it’s not.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely stay. We pulled into the parking lot which was close to the building and an elevator. My mom traveled with us and has difficulty walking so being close was a huge win. It was easy to get into and everything was tidy and working well. The furniture was comfortable, though there was one twin bed that moved a lot while my daughter was trying to get in and out of bed. I think the frame was loose, but overall didn’t cause too much trouble. We came for the beach and we had easy access and a short walk to beautiful, clean sand with chair and umbrella rentals. When we were done we went to the refreshing pool for a bit before inside. We loved getting to eat on the patio overlooking the water and were even able to spot dolphins from our balcony! There was a garbage chute next to our front door and that was super handy. Over all, we were exceptionally pleased with our stay!

Subpar establishment

We always enjoy the beach so that part goes without saying. However the condo really need some upgrade. The stove, refrigerator, and hood vent need replacing It was sad to see nice countertops and backsplash with such old outdated appliances that have rusted and has chips and rust all in it. Some of the dishes were very dirty. The chairs in the dining area are very unsterdy. If there was more care and love put into this place it would be a great place to be. To sum it up. It need some work. We were expecting a gym facility only to find out there wasn’t one and there hasn’t been one in a year or 2. This was one of the reasons we chose the place because we work out and it was perfect for me and my girls. This I felt was false advertisement. When I questioned about it I was told that the property management does not notify them and they were not aware that there wasn’t one. How can u not know that there wasn’t a gym?? The management did send maintenance to come and fix the things that needed to be fixed but I wasn’t pleased that he knocked once and didn’t give us time to come to the door before he barged in and my daughter was not dressed and had to run in the room. That was very unprofessional. We vacation at the beach yearly and by far this is one of the worse experiences we have ever had. IT NEEDS UPGRADING

Nasty!

I'm not one to complain but I am shocked at the condition of this condo, Castaways 3B. I am here with 3 other families who are renting 3 other Castaway condos. Their other units aren't perfect but by comparison and for the same rate, my condo is a complete disaster and disappointment. There's rust throughout the condo: the refrigerator, stove, range hood, vents, all metal is rusted. The toilet is dirty. The mismatched furniture is stained. We covered the couch so we could use it. The chair even covered nobody would sit in. It doesn't feel like the condo had been cleaned but it's so much more than that. It needs maintenance and updates that are not possible while we rented. The cabinets are nicked which I understand can happen in a rental, but they are filthy. It looks like they haven't been wiped down. I'm guessing that paint is all that could save them. It feels extremely unsanitary. There's an open outlet with wires exposed in a bedroom. 2 duct taped bed frames which we didn't realize until my son cut his foot on one. The beach is lovely which is where we are spending the day. The room also smells like mold. 4 out of 6 of us got sick. I can’t help but think it’s something from that room. I am honestly shocked that this unit is able to to rented. I don't feel like it is fair or reasonable to be charged the same rate as the other units. Go else where. I reached out and just got an I’m sorry. I feel like a reimbursement was necessary.

Not crowded so no long elevator wait like in tall packed condos. There is a share beach supplies bucket which is convenient and nice to save money and share with others. The pool and beach access is ideally accessible. Super easy to rent chairs and umbrella in the morning on the beach. We were able to see dolphins every morning on our patio while sipping coffee. Our only constructive feedback is the twin beds are very uncomfortable for adults. My daughter slept perfectly fine without complaints but I would not recommend adults comfortably sleeping in the two twins. I would also recommend bringing some type of black out blanket to hang over the window with the two twin beds. The light outside stays on all night and is very bright through the window. And for a tip for this unit, if you are staying in the room for meals bring everything outside of cookware, silverware, and dishes. There are not random supplies like salt and pepper or coffee condiments or anything like that. Easy fix by bringing your own, but just be aware it is not furnished like some condos with possible needed supplies. As noted in paperwork, bring extra toilet paper paper towels trash bags dish soap etc. check in and check out was easy. Everything worked great. Showers were nice and warm with good water pressure. There is a stand up fan in the closet. We would leave the bedroom doors closed during the day with ceiling fan and stand up fan running to help keep the rooms cool for sleeping. Ideal condo for 1-2 adults and 1-3 kids. Would stay here with my daughters again! Great vacation!

The washer machine leaked and did not spin out clothes properly.The condo’s air conditioner sucked we had to use fans and it barely worked at all it did not keeps us cool. All in All great location but the condo needs to be updated seriously

Location great but condo was VERY dirty.

The view and location were fantastic. That said, the condo was dirty, the furniture was worn and dingy, and there was obvious black mold growing in the second bathroom. I immediately contacted Sunset Properties about the black mold and I was told there "was no black mold." I sent them a picture of the obvious splotches of black mold. They said they would "contact the association." However, nothing was done about this while we were there, so we closed off that bathroom and used the master bath for our whole group as the black mold was affecting my lungs. The walls were dingy and stained, the baseboards had layers of dust/dirt. There were also clumps of hair here and there on surfaces which I suspect were from housekeeping using a dirty sponge to wipe things down. That said, Gulf Shores itself is fantastic. We made the most of it and had a great vacation outside of our disappointment in having to share one bath and the less than ideal cleanliness of the condo. We will definitely be back to Gulf Shores but will book a different condo next time.
