Our hotel property is designed to preserve the natural dunes of the beach, so our layout is long east to west along the beach, rather than long north to south. The additional benefits are that you get a beautiful view of the Gulf as you make your way to your room. Fun fact about the parking spaces too, as you may have noticed, the uncovered parking spaces are permeable (a grid made of recycled plastic). This allows for rainwater to drain directly into the ground. We do apologize if the walk seemed excessive. Thanks again for your comments.

Please allow us to address your concerns:We understand your concern with parking. With parking located on the west side of the hotel grounds, no guest rooms overlook the parking lot. All guest rooms have one of two spectacular views…either the majestic Gulf of Mexico or gorgeous Gulf State Park and Lake Shelby. We do apologize if the walk seemed excessive.As a full-service hotel, we are limited by liabilities in allowing guests to take a bell cart, so we offer a personalized bell service for luggage assistance. As awesome as the beaches are, a short walk across the footbridge you can also explore everything the park has to offer. Hotel rates are market driven, and comparable to similar full service hotels on the Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores to Pensacola, FL to Destin, FL to Panama City, Florida.The beach chairs and umbrellas are handled by a third party, Ike’s Rentals. Two beach chairs and an umbrella are 45 for one day, 80 for two days. And similar to the prior paragraph, full service hotels on the Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores to Pensacola, FL to Destin, FL to Panama City, Florida, all charge for their beach umbrellas and chairs.Thanks again for your comments. We appreciate your feedback regarding the parking lot, which is 1/4 mile from the furthest guest room tower. All beachfront parking areas inside Gulf State Park are paid lots, with The Lodge being one of them. Although there is a charge for parking, you will be pleased to know The Lodge does not have any hotel fees, like the majority of hotels charge their guests. Hi Jeremy,Thank you for your review. Our unique architecture, layout and design was developed around our commitment to the sustainability and protecting the natural dunes. The positioning of the buildings takes advantage of the gulf breezes for natural ventilation and maximizes natural lighting of the interior. This design reduces both energy usage and interior water use compared to a facility of similar size. We love the common area balconies too! Such a relaxing place to gaze at the Gulf of Mexico while enjoying a coffee, reading or chatting with a friend or family member. Thanks again for your comments. We hope to see you again soon.
