About this property

Spacious private home , private pool, dogs allowed, near boat dock, restaurants

  • Big Blue is a spacious private home tucked away in Surfside Shores, a private beach neighborhood with trees, vegitation and sand dunes. A 5 to 10 min walk to beach access, but close enough to the shore to hear the ocean when out on either of the two large decks at the back of the house.

    We are just a hop down the road to Tacky Jacks and Sassy Bass restaurants in Ft Morgan and the new Jessie's by the Bay in Gulf Shores. If you would like some exercise, take a walk directly down our beach to the Sassy Bass Island Grill at the Plantations right near the water.


    Home Layout:

    The first floor has a master bedroom in the front of the house and the washer dryer. The back of the house faces the gulf, and the pool. Both bedrooms in the back of the house have french door access to the large back deck. The back bedrooms are connected by a large Jack and Jill bathroom with a rainfall shower.

    The second floor has a wide open floorplan with the kitchen and living room sharing the same space. In the front of the house, the second master bedroom has a large closet space. The kitchen has french door access to the large top deck for outdoor dining.

    We have stocked the kitchen well with a ninja blender, toaster, a drip coffee maker, modern fridge with ice maker. Pots, pans and cooking utensils and plenty of plates and utensils.

    The staircase to the crows nest is on the second floor and our young guest love this unique space with the twin bed, small foldout foam couch and writing desks. We also have guests use this area as a remote working space or creative writing space.

    We use Skylink high speed satellite internet for any remote work needs.

    Each bedroom and the living room have smart tv’s for streaming video, live tv or gaming.

    We are just a short drive to the Ft Morgan ferry doc for day trips to Dauphin Island and Pirates Cove.

The house was exactly as described. Clean and comfortable. We had plenty of room for all.of us. Getting a golf cart for travel to the beach was essential. Not too bad of a walk, but since we chose the end of July, it was very hot and humid and the walk would have been unbearable. This was out first trip to gulf shores. We decided, it is not for us. Just a personal.preference. the ocean, at this time of year, was full of jelly fish and not a desirable color(brown). And due to he temps and humidity, the pool was too hot to enjoy. I want to say, none of this was fault of the rental. The rental was fantastic and the host was quick to answer any questions. We arrived early and we're allowed to enter early which was kind and a huge help. We give the host and the rental 5 stars easily! Unfortunately, we will not return to gulf shores. Thank you

Pretty House

If you’re going to be rained in by a hurricane for most of your vacation, this house is a good one to stay in. All kidding aside, the house was clean and beautiful. The pool was nice and I didn’t find the walk to the beach to be too daunting. Would stay there again.

Great vacation home

Big Blue Sea was a wonderful vacation home. We enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful; kitchen well equipped for cooking meals; bedrooms and beds were comfortable; everything was clean; and the family areas of the home provided spaces for connecting with one another (pool area was great & living room had games). The host was quick to communicate and helpful! Overall, a nice home for a beach getaway!

Restful week!

Great location and beautiful property! Plenty of room and well appointed. Great communication with owner Elisa and local property manager Lisa who was readily available for anything. The pool was a perfect perk and of course we love all the little local spots Fort Morgan has to offer! Thanks for a great Labor Day week!

Family Vacay with adult “children”

Our family of 5 enjoyed being so close to the beach with a pool day option. There was plenty of room for us all and the kitchen was well equipped for family meals. Neighborhood was great! Host and property manager were very responsive. Recommend renting a golf cart to get to and from the beach. We had a great week!

We stayed at this property July 2026 for a week. Our 2 adult children and their spouses along with 2 grandkids (3yrs & 3 mos) and our 6 yr old dog Topper. The house, property, location and amenities are amazing. We have stayed at VRBOs 2-3 times a year for 20 years and this ranks near the top and best. The owner was always responsive to questions and any needs we had. The property was very clean with everything you need for a stay. We had just a couple of needs during our stay and property manager in the neighborhood was so responsive and they resolved the needs immediately!! For example the propane grill quit working the day we arrived and the next day the property manager delivered a new propane grill. And when we had some questions about things, the responses were immediate. And when we met the property manager they were like family. Be sure to rent a golf cart; we did a 6 passenger and it was a life saver go to beach each day yet only 1 block over and 1 block down but u can park the cart at beach access. We are coming back to this neighborhood in 2027It’s safe and quiet. And will stay at this property cause it’s better than perfect. And you are close to several dining areas with awesome food if u don’t cook in. Jesse’s on the bay, Beach Club Coast Restaurant, Hideaway, Sea Bass. All top notch. Come stay a weekend or a week. And for the price we’ve stayed in gulf shores, 30A, Dolphin Island and Destin…this is it folks!!! Cmon enjoy!!

July Fourth Family Vacation

Had a great holiday week with the family! The house was spacious and the pool for the kiddos was a huge plus! The recommendation for the golf cart was greatly appreciated, it made traveling back and forth to and from the beach a breeze since I always tend it overpack! Will definitely be back! ❤️

Amazing Place to Stay

This was our second time staying in Gulf Shores and this place far exceeded our previous experience. The house was great but having the pool in the backyard was great as we had multiple children that required naps so we were not stuck inside. We rented a golf cart so getting stuff to the beach was no issue. Elisa was more than flexible with travel arrangements. One of the best part was being secluded from the downtown craziness but a quick and easy 15 minute drive or so to get to restaurants. Should we return to gulf shores we would definitely stay here again.

Amazing home!

We had an absolutely amazing time this past week staying here. The location was wonderful. Home was very clean and very well stocked of linens. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook meals with. The property manager Lisa was absolutely amazing! The pool was perfect. The crows nest was beautiful at night time. This was our first trip to Alabama and definitely won't be our last thanks to the amazing time we had here. If you're looking for a family friendly, peaceful location and overall relaxing vacation i highly recommended booking this home! :)

Big Blue

OMG...I don't know where to start. First, Elisa is wonderful. Very quick at replying to messages and requests. House was great. Pool was beautiful. Kitchen was set up perfectly (with the exception of it being on the top floor). The bedrooms/bathrooms were very spacious. The walk to the beach was a little further than we expected but we managed. The private beach was extremely nice--not crowded at all. Our family enjoyed every minute of our stay and we will definitely be staying here again.

Great Place to Stay

Our stay at your home was truly exceptional, and we have been enthusiastically recommending it friends and family ever since. Every aspect of our visit exceeded our expectations. Disappointed

This was our second month long stay at this property. Last year we were disappointed that the pool wasn’t heated as it was chilly most our stay. Owner stated the pool would be heated by fall of 2023. Shame on me for not checking before booking for the month of March this year. Pool was not heated and owner only took action after complaining. The heater was installed during our 4th week there and it took a week to dial it in. So out of a 5 week stay we’ve able to use the pool a couple of days. Unfortunately it was as chilly if not more this year. Overall property maintenance was poor. Gas grill was destroyed and replaced after we said something. Mesh around the pool to keep the sand out was all flapping in the wind. I went out and bought zip ties and repaired myself. Board and pallets from building still laying around the property. We used some of the boards last year for a makeshift sidewalk to the pool that’s still there. Nothing permanent done. Oven door was broken but usable. Faucet fixtures loose last year are still loose along with towel fixtures in the bathroom. Also keep in mind there are 38 stair steps to get to the main living area. For us the pool heated was the big disappointment. Owner had a year to get this done and stated it would be. Again, shame on me for not confirming as we would have never booked without it. Everything considered this will be our last time at this property.

Our only complaint was the ice maker wasn’t working, but we bought bags of ice. Everything else was FANTASTIC! Do recommend getting the golf cart for ease of going to the beach. We enjoyed having beach toys and pool toys there that could be used. We will definitely stay here again.

House was great for our family. Loved the big island in the kitchen! House was clean and well appointed. Short walk to the beach. Elisa was quick to respond to questions before and during our visit. Downside: Pool was smaller than appears in pictures. Also disappointed there was no propane in grill the night we wanted to cook out. Overall 10/10! We would stay there again!

Our experience planning this vacation from start to finish was seamless. This home is just…lovely. The location is a quiet neighborhood away from all the traffic while still being a short drive to restaurants, shopping, etc… The beach is just a short (5 mins) walk away and is clean and not too crowded. Check in was a breeze. Any contact we made during our stay was by email and answered within minutes. We highly recommend!! Sorry we are leaving but look forward to coming back.

perfect spot for a spring break stay if you aren’t interested in the bustle of town. check in was easy and host communicated quickly. amenities were plentiful at this property. our favorite aspects was the pool and the 4 blocks walk to the beach. really enjoyed the kitchen and deck for meals. also, had a 10/10 dining experience at Jesse’swould stay here again.

Great stay for annual couples trip

We had an awesome time at the beach with friends staying here! So much space on all floors and great location to the beach with just a little bit of a neighborhood walk to get to the access point. Really enjoyed how private the beach was and quiet the neighborhood was as well. Highly recommend and would love to stay again!

Loved our stay at this house. It was very clean. Our hostess was very accommodating, friendly, helpful, and responsive. It was a lovely location. I loved our private pool. The beach was beautiful. And I love that it is not so crowded. Our family had a wonderful time.
