Feel free to check the lake levels ahead of your trip — just search “Lake Guntersville lake levels” and look for the TVA link. A level of 595 ft typically means about 4 feet of water in the boathouse. The lake is a living, changing environment, and the experience at the water can vary depending on water level, weeds, or debris. TVA treats the area regularly, and we also hire a local crew to clean and clear it at the start of summer.
Grocery Tip: The local Publix delivers right to the front door, so no need to haul groceries if you prefer to have them brought in.
We have installed a Level 2 EV Charger. It is a J1772 connector and also has a Tesla (NACS) adapter and charges up to 48A.
This was our very first vacation rental — and we’ve since added two more on Smith Lake! You can check them out by clicking on our host profile.

Property was as advertised. Great spot to relax. Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of yard to feel plenty of space from neighbors. Very well stocked kitchen and beds were very comfortable. Great stay.
Home was perfect for family getaway.
The kitchen had all cookware for cooking family meals, comfortable beds, bathrooms are roomy with great water pressure. You can tell the owner has put a lot of thought into the guests comfort and it is in the lake!
Nice home with many nice updates. Comfortable beds and furniture, well appointed kitchen and in a nice neighborhood close to restaurants and shopping. Host were responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Would stay again.
We truly had a blast! This property had everything to make us feel at home. The kitchen was was perfect for family dinners, the dock had gorgeous sunset views & the boat lift was a perfect fit for our bass boat. Ben and Lela were amazing hosts, very responsive & made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back for another family vacation!
We had a quick 2 night stay with my husband and I and my 80+ year old parents. The house was very clean with lovely decor and so many small thoughtful touches. It is a nice flat lot and on a lovely street for walking as well. My only note is to be aware that there are 2 large steps into the main living area (with the pretty lake view). We would absolutely stay again!
The house is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. It’s close enough to the main part of the lake for easy access, but if you want to just use the kayaks to paddle around the inlet that’s easy enough. Grocery stores are within 15 minutes and carry all you need. Both showers are amazing as far as water pressure and temperature go, and the larger of the two with the rainfall head and multiple jets is an experience anyone who stays here should definitely try. We had a blast here and will definitely keep it in mind for our next escape. The hosts were great with communication as well.
Keepin' It Reel provided a nice place for my family to meet to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
Positives: The hosts let us check in early as the house was cleaned the day before. There was a well-stocked kitchen with good quality cookware--even cast-iron pans. The bathrooms were nice and had amazing showers. Three of the bedrooms were good. The beds were a bit soft, but not bad for a vacation home. Unfortunately, there were also some negatives about this vacation home which detracted from an enjoyable holiday. The downstairs bedroom was very musty smelling. Due to the musty smell, we could not sleep there. I had to concoct a bed out of comforters because my son's allergies would not tolerate the downstairs. We attempted to use the sleeper sofa in the living room, but the bed's frame appeared to be broken on one side, and the mattress would have been very uncomfortable anyways. In addition, the couch needs to be replaced. It was worn out and had no support left.
**The online listing was accurate except for the mustiness and the couch's comfort.
At first glance, the house looks small. But looks are deceiving! The kitchen is huge and well laid out and the table can accommodate 8 adults easily. The owners have thought of everything from dishwasher pods, coffee, filters, cream sugar to washer pods and even gray washcloths for washing off make up. There were plenty of white towels for bathing and even blue towels for the lake.
All the light switches, knobs, etc were well marked so it made it easy without guessing what turned on what!
We had 4 couples and everyone had plenty of room. The main bedroom had a half bath and the other 2 bedrooms upstairs had plenty of room with a really nice hall bath and newly renovated shower. There was a huge half bath and tub/shower room off the kitchen and laundry room. The shower had a rainfall shower, regular showerhead and there were body jets. I found it complicated to use somewhat the first time, but once I figured it out - it was great! Downstairs had 4 twin beds that worked well for one couple. The only downfall to the downstairs was there wasn't a bathroom, so they had to come upstairs during the night when necessary. The extra frig in the basement came in SO handy for overflow.
There is plenty of seating and tables on the back deck and patio. Even a firepit with plenty of wood, although it was too hot to use.
We loved the house and we all talked about coming back again, but in the fall when we could enjoy the outdoor area more. Thank you Ben and Lela!

Nice place.Would have liked more direct description re: location on the lake and boathouse useabilty
*Condensed because of character limits*
The house was clean and well stocked. Ben and Lela were responsive and accommodating. A few things I feel were described somewhat “gray”, however.
A) The lake is 2x farther away from back of the house then the picture of the backyard shows.
B) The boat ramp listed as "at the entrance of the neighborhood" is over a mile away. Eel grass is taking over the lake. If you launch at that ramp, your trailer will be covered in it. And you'll boat in a lake full of it. Not the owners fault, but it should be mentioned.
C) The house is located on a very shallow part of the lake far away from 10-15ft or more depth. I have put our boat in slips/lifts with 4ft depth. This would have worked, but getting to the main part of the lake isn't possible because of surrounding depths. Because of this we couldn't use the boathouse, which is the main attraction of the listing and the reason we booked.
In Ben’s defense he sent a message prior regarding lake depth. However, I feel in an effort to retain my rental, his message was worded carefully. It wasn't clear that our only option to enjoy the lake was to trailer our boat 15-20 mins away. As such, I was disappointed upon arriving and felt misled.
The listing isn't blatantly dishonest, it’s just skewed too much on the positive. It shouldn't be necessary for the renter to read between the lines or deep into prior reviews. Accurate, clear, honest descriptions should be used to avoid disappointments.
Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
We had a lovely time staying in this home with our adult children. It was peaceful and comfortable with easy access to the lake. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the hosts were communicative and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Ben and Lela have done an excellent job on this property! The inside is beautifully decorated with an amazing bathroom. This house had everything we needed and we enjoyed use of the boat dock to store our boat in the evenings. Ben and Lela were very easy to work with and responded quickly to all our questions. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
