About this property

Welcoming and well loved older house centrally located in Haast township

  • Welcoming and well loved bedroom House in Haast township. This is an older house with quite a lot of quirks but is very comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It is a work in progress needing on going work, so please be mindful of this, we have actually lowered our prices to reflect this. For example, the windows are old wooden ones that are better not to be opened as they are sticky and do not run smoothly, if windows are needed to be opened, please open only the windows with insect grills on them, those open without difficulty. In time we will replace the windows with new ones. But our absolute priority is the comfort and satisfaction of our guests so even though it is an older house , you are assured to have a comfortable stay.
    The house sleeps 6 people easily, 8 people if the top bunks of the bunk beds are used. There is one Super King size bed, one Double bed and two separate Bunk beds.
    The house is well appointed with, Microwave oven, Clothes Washing machine and Clothes Dryer as well other standard appliances (Fridge, Stove/Oven, Toaster, Kettle etc). I am sorry, as of 27/12/24 the Dishwasher is out of order until it can be repaired.
    The house is a great place for a group or couple to base yourselves while you explore the Haast area. It is close walking distance (under 5 minutes) to the local Grocery/General store and the Hard Antler pub which serves Meals. Also a bonus is the house is surprisingly quiet and peaceful, being situated on a no exit street.
    The house is also a close 5 minutes walk to a lovely walking and cycling track that takes you right to Haast Beach and back, mostly through beautiful native bush, a 5km walk, 10km round trip.
    It has a nice warm log fire for those cold evenings and heaters are available in the bedrooms to keep you toastie warm during the colder months.
    Update! We have just had Wifi installed! So you are now fully connected with the world (also have very good mobile coverage at the house). And to top it off we have also purchased a brand new Smart TV which allows you to watch all your favourite shows at your leisure.
    We are looking forward to hosting you at our little slice of paradise!

The house was cosy and well equipped (although we couldnt find a hairdryer). The beds were comfy and the place was lovely and clean. The bathroom is a little dated as is the kitchen but it is accurately described and had what we needed. The fire was wonderful. Overall it was very good.

Cool house

Everything was as it showed on the listing. My friend with us described it as a cool house. It had everything we needed. A short walk to shop and the Hard Antler. Would definitely stay again.

Oldie but a goodie

The old Haast house was clean and had everything we needed. The air conditioning system seemed to work intermittently, it might need a service. This accommodation was perfectly located for west coast travel

Well used

I was able to access the property just fine. But when I arrived, there was an unmade bed, toothbrush & paste in the bathroom, the tub was dirty - it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Had a great meal at the Hard Antler.

We stayed one night in this house with my family. The communication with the host was great and the check in process is very easy. I would however say that this house would need some serious fixes and an overall renovation. For example, the windows do not open properly. Personally, I would not stay more than one night in this house.
