Rock Creek Schoolhouse - Historic Charm! 5 Bdrm, Ski Lodging

They say that one day in the country is worth a month in town. This home is worth all of that and more! The Rock Creek Schoolhouse is nestled close to the base of the Elkhorn Mountains just outside Haines, OR and half-way between Baker City and Anthony Lakes Resort.

This home was originally a country schoolhouse. Tragically, a fire burnt it to the ground and It was later rebuilt in the image of the historic schoolhouse and remains a cherished piece of Baker County history.
Incredible for events, entertaining friends, and for a family gathering, this expansive home is a historic gem just 15 minutes outside Baker City and 3 minutes outside Haines. This home boasts three full suites, an additional bedroom, an office, and sleeps 16.

The kitchen has both a formal dining room for entertaining as well as a large island with seating for many more. Two ovens provide ample space for cooking and warming dishes.

You will be in awe of the floor to ceiling windows and wood-burning brick fireplace which stands as the center of this stately home. The living room is finished with hand-crafted woodworking that adds charm to this treasured home.

You'll love spending time on the back deck in serenity while taking in views of the beautiful Elkhorn mountains and surrounding ranches that reside in the Baker Valley.

Whether you are seeking first tracks in the morning at Anthony Lakes, or mountain biking/recreating in the summer; this home is just 30 minutes from the resort.

The serenity, beauty, history, craftsmanship, proximity to recreation, and events/gatherings at this home will provide cherished memories for years to come.

Perfect family spot!
This was our 2nd New Year's stay with our sons, daughters-in-law and granddaughter. The property is wonderful with plenty of room for all of us, and the location is beautiful and secluded while still being close to Haines and Baker City. We appreciated the discount for Anthony Lakes mountain tickets and the proximity to the resort, too. We will book again in the future!

Far above my expectations
We had a graduation party here. I live locally but needed a place for guest to stay overnight. The house is beautiful. They had more supply than I could have dreamed. I didnt need to bring half the stuff from hime that i did. The view....AMAZING!!! I got a picture of a gorgeous sunset over the mountains. I honestly can not say enough about this place.

Great spring visit
The house was great as it was big enough for the two families and our dogs. Wonderful to have a backyard for the dogs to play in, as well. Wonderful location for getting to Anthony Lakes, as well as into Baker City. We had a couple of issues/questions, but the property managers were extremely responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay there again!

Great Getaway Spot
The setting in the Baker valley between two beautiful mountain ranges is stunning, and the schoolhouse is such a unique property that the two together make for a wonderful getaway spot. A bonus is that it is only a 1/2 hour from Anthony Lakes Ski Area. The rooms are very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We especially appreciate that dogs are allowed and wood is provided for the huge fireplace. There are a few things that could use attention, like empty picture hooks on the walls, but those are minor. This is a great spot for relaxing! (The schoolhouse is on a country road about 15 minutes from Baker City.)

Wow! Beautiful and huge
A great space for a group or large family. Well appointed and beautifully remodeled. Way out of town in the middle of ranch land. Awesome country views. Great for privacy, and fairly close to Anthony Lakes skiing. Haines Steakhouse was a hoot and great food for meat eaters. Would love to come back.
