My husband and I really enjoyed staying here! Vanessa and her husband were wonderful hosts, very kind and helpful! Their property is perfect if you want peace and quiet away from all the tourists/crowds.

It was dirty and dingy. Curtains were make- shift sheets. Refrigerator was filty. There were NO utensils, plates, bowls, cups, or glasses. No coffee maker.One towel in the bathroom. No extras hand towels or wash clothes. Dirty shower and curtain. Property was a mess. Parking was unsafe. Neighborhood was run down. Poor communication with host. It looks nothing like the pictures shown on the advertisement. We actually left and found a hotel.

Super cute place to stay!
We stayed in this studio for 4 nights, and we were very satisfied! Space was nice and clean and we were happy to note that there was no roaches or any other bugs like previous reviews have noted. Hosts were sweet, welcoming, and considerate remaining quiet in their own space unless we needed something. They also let us check in early and gave us recommendations on where to go. The location is absolutely gorgeous and there is a bus stop right in front of the street that goes all down the highway and will get you to Haleiwa, the grocery store, sharks cove, Sunset Beach, Giovanni’s, and Kawela Bay. Once we got settled in with the transportation system we were able to get anywhere we needed on the gorgeous North Shore. Mahalo!

Great location
We especially loved having the bikes available to us to ride on the bike path from Sunset Beach to Waimea Bay! Also loved walking to beach at sunset and watching the surfers. Close to the bakery and a grocery store not too far away. Appreciated the blender and freezer. TV available for the evening time. Easy check in and check out. Mahalo!

Cute but expensive.
This little studio is cute. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. It is a basement studio. It met the minimum expectations. Had coffee filters, and a little coffee pot but no coffee. We only stayed here one night. Vrbo really jacks up the price with taxes, fees and cleaning fees.

A great town to stay in
My partner and I enjoyed the stay for our first trip to the islands. Over all this place is not a bad stay considering it’s very close to some really cool North Shore beaches. I made the mistake of reading the reviews right before checking in and feared we would have to deal with a lot of bugs. Truthfully it wasn’t that bad, a few spiders and we only saw one little roach. We could tell the space was cleaned prior to our stay, so it didn’t bother us that much. Yes you can hear people upstairs but that’s typical for a shared space. The host responded in a timely manner, check in was easy and the bed was comfy! If you are staying, eat at Ted’s Bakery for bfast, very delish!

We just need a place to stay after exploring all day. The bed was comfortable. A coffee pot & microwave were all we used. The shower was a little snug for my 6’ husband but he managed. The location was great!

Sweet Paradise 🌺
Vanessa and her beautiful family have the sweetest place to offer guests. Super short walk to another gorgeous beach in the north shore. She is super helpful and friendly. I forgot my phone charger and there was one on the bed waiting for me when we checked in❤️ BTW the bed is super comfortable. We loved it so much we wanted to stay a second night and she helped make that happen. Squeaky clean studio:) Very peaceful place to vacation. We will DEFINITELY stay again when we return to the island. Mahalo

Epic location
A great no frills base to explore the north shore from. The room is small but is tidy and located 5min walk from Sunset beach and V-land. You spend the vast majority of your time outdoors here so the room size isn’t an issue. Vanessa is a great host! Easy to talk to and relaxed. If you are looking for a laid back and centrally located place to enjoy the surf from, this is it!

To start communication about the property was great, location was great, but that's about it. Like the review below 1/17/24, this property had resident roaches and spiders. I know being a local girl there are bugs but, there are always several ways to minimize them and/or get rid of them! Upon checking in my husband saw spiders in the corners in bathroom but we chalked it up and walked down to the beach. Upon returning from the beach we noticed the roaches...not just one but several...on the counters and floors. We also noticed milk in the fridge as though someone left it there and the unit wasn't cleaned thoroughly...then as soon as we were done packing up all our stuff bc we didn't want the roaches to get in our bags and didn't want to drive back home in the middle of the night....we laid in the bed and all we could hear were kids running back and forth, back and forth..... I landed up working throughout the night as I was nervous to try and sleep with spiders and roaches....but as soon as the we heard the kids running around again in the morning at sunrise 715am...we left! I even rescheduled my conf call bc we didn't want to be there any longer. I didn't let the owner know as I'm not confrontational but I am disappointed. It was a lot of $ for one night..next time we will try a resort...prob won't have bugs or hear kids running around. It would have also helped to have in the description that this studio is below their home...

We checked in late and put our fruit we had purchased on the counter. Within minutes there were 3 cockroaches on it. More cockroaches were found in the cabinets. We understand the Hawaii and the tropics, but this was a bit much. However we brushed it off for the time being as it was late. I then noticed a number of spiderwebs throughout the corners, plants, and ceiling, with spiders in them. I decided to take a shower and found the body wash filled with Dawn Dish detergent. We found the place not clean enough to spend even one night. Especially with roaches feasting on our fruit within arms reach. The host did find us another place to stay but we declined.

What we needed
No Luxury here. If you want luxury, move on. Bed was 10 out of 10, much better than we expected, A/C was good. Had all we needed for our 4 days. Washer and dryer were great. The cat 'TT' was sweet and was spoiled during our stay. Overall this stay was better than we expected. Thanks! Con: bikes were functional, but low air pressure without pump prevented us from using as desired.

If your expecting the Ritz stay at the Ritz. This place was so down to earth and modest. The area was clean and so so quiet. Away from all the hustle of the city made it worth every penny. Take note this is located on the north shore so expect a hour drive into the city. But the drive is breath taking. Best way to experience the entire island. And the beach…….there are no words for the beauty. This little place had everything we needed and more. All appliances, utensils, plates,cups and yes a coffee pot. The host was awesome and the neighbors were fantastic. Be a cat and dog lover cause they are very friendly also. It’s not fantasy it’s Hawaiian living. Perfect coming from a city girl.

A few days in May
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few days in May (I've been meaning to write this post for sometime). The location is perfect. Walking distance to what feels like a beach with incredible views, short driving distance to all things you need/want to experience in the North Shore. Definitely recommend renting a car, but this place is the perfect home base. It's not 5 star accommodations, but its clean, home-y, and has everything you need. This place is perfect for travelers who will be gone all day and simply need a quality place to sleep/get ready for the day. Will totally stay here again. The host were the sweetest!

Minimalistic, parking was a patch of ground across from house next to a wall, one A/C unit in window (about 5K BTU), one large sink in bathroom, bathroom window had no curtain/had cloth hanging from two screws, front door and back glass door difficult to unlock and lock, washer/dryer outside under deck (when available), narrow shower in bath, hose outside to wash off sand, clothes line available, mornings were best when a cool wind would blow and a wide variety of birds would sing, found bugs in bathroom on two days, TV sound and sign in not available two days, was told to reach out but knocked on door twice and even with dog barking was completely ignored. Would be great stay for single person or someone wanting a place with the basics.

Conveniently located and quiet!
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay. The property is clean and quiet. You can walk to V land and Sunset! Ted’s is a 5 minute walk for breakfast or lunch! The unit is clean and spacious. The host responded to all my emails quickly! We were even able yo check in early. There are plenty of towels and there is even a nice little cooler for the beach! It’s a perfect spot for a few days on the North Shore!

My stay was incredible. The community is wonderful and not overcrowded. Within an easy driving distance to the main attractions on the north side of the island, and not a bad commute for things on the other side (leave early and its not an issue), such as Pearl Harbor (a MUST). Hikers galore in the area. I left early a few days and hiked the trails. The vegetation and wildlife are remarkable. And- of course, the beaches!!! Beach bum is a compliment. The studio is quaint. It is private and small and perfect for the traveler(s) who know they will be on the go. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and two portable single burner hot plates. I cooked breakfasts and meals with ease. Other travelers have left a beach umbrella, a cooler for the beach, a rain poncho, and a few other items. The bikes are rusted (as another traveler noted) but everything with metal rusts in the damp air. It did not effect the function of the bikes. The biking trail is wonderful. And surfing? There are places to rent all of the things you may want to play in the surf. Mahalo for this amazing trip. It was perfect in so many ways. I miss it already. If crammed hotel stays are not your favorite, then I recommend this location. ALOHA and safe travels!!!

Beautiful Hawaiian Sanctuary!
This beautiful studio is located on a private street just a short walk to the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen! This cute little studio had everything we needed there was even a washer and dryer right outside the back door. The bikes we were able to use really added to the trip! We went on a bike ride to watch the sunset at sunset beach! The bed was so comfortable, I slept like a baby! Can't wait to be visit this accommodation again in the future!

The place was dirty, dead bugs, what looked like mold in places. Ill equipped and smelled. Found a coffee maker after looking through cupboards and it had old grounds that had molded then dried as hard as a rock. Had to buy toilet paper as no extra rolls. Does VRBO ever check out these places??

Our experience at this property was very disappointing. When we arrived, we were met with an outdated and unclean property that fell far short of our expectations. There was a thick layer of dust covering the old fan and AC, rendering them unusable, and we even found a dead cockroach on the floor. The bedding and pillows were worn out and outdated, making for an uncomfortable night's sleep. The living space was tiny and located beneath a rented out main house occupied by noisy guests. Given the amount we paid per night, which was over $300 including taxes and upkeep, we expected a certain level of value for our money. Unfortunately, it was apparent that the property owner had not invested in updating or maintaining the property to the standard of the rental price we paid. The rental price did not reflect the value of the property, which, in our opinion, should have been substantially lower. Despite the owner's apology for the noisy upstairs guests, we found numerous issues with the property that made it impossible for us to stay beyond one night. We had to find alternative accommodations for the remainder of our trip. While VRBO advertised the property as a "whole" vacation home that did not require sharing with other groups, we found this claim to be dubious. The thin walls, noise level, and lack of privacy made it impossible to enjoy our stay. Overall, we hope these issues will be addressed so that future guests have a better stay than we did.

Great location. Quiet neighborhood…no chickens. Did daily early morning walks to Sunset & Pipeline beaches. Bed was very comfortable after an active day. It would have been nice to have wash clothes, hand towels, garbage can, and a living room chair for reading before bed. *** Caution: there was no off-street parking for studio unit. Was instructed to park personal vehicle on side of road in a blind curve.

Cozy place across from Sunset Beach
Good place for 2 people, very comfortable bed. Check in process was easy. Location is on point! Just minutes drive from Sunset beach or 10min walk. 2 Bicycles are provided which my husband used to go surf in the mornings at Velzey land. We also drove to Haleiwa to eat and check out shops, only 15min by car.

I was super disappointed to find out when we got there that this is the downstairs guest suite in family home. It is not mentioned anywhere in the listing, and my only hint was when the host messaged me the day of our arrival to make sure I knew to go to the downstairs door. It was too late when I discovered that other people have complained about the same things in the reviews. The bathroom window is a straight shot to the bed area with no curtain; so if someone were in the backyard it would be easy for them to see in. I personally wish we would have just stayed in a hotel instead. Some people don’t mind renting private rooms, but it’s not my thing, and I feel like I wasn’t afforded the opportunity to avoid it through accurate advertising.

Pros and Cons…
Like other guests who have stayed, we too felt that the listing was a bit deceiving and quite expensive for what you get. Cons:. It should be noted that this is a bottom studio apartment and a family lives above with two young children that you can hear through the ceiling. There isn’t a hose to clean feet after beach day when the owner requests no sand in the shower. Bikes are old / rusted. Shower backs up so you’re standing in a pool of water. Lock is tricky. Pros: Bed was super comfortable. Location is wonderful. Communication with owner was good.

Surprisingly quiet North Shore street without noisy roosters to wake you up, perfect for short term
Great quiet neighborhood street, near Ted's Bakery and Sunset Beach, so you can walk or bike easily around, which is way faster than driving on the North Shore during surf season and road work. Door lock a little tricky at times, but becomes easier after a few times. If you like quiet at night till the early morning, even with a family above, you totally get it, way better than any Waikiki hotels! Fridge/Freezer and a microwave available in room! Mahalos for the stay!

We arrived later in the evening after attending a show just down the road. Looking forward to a good night's rest, unfortunately upon arrival we went into the bathroom and there was an infestation of fruit flies, all over the mirror, sink, tap, hand wash and on the ceiling. We complained to the owner and she never got back to us until the following day around 2pm. We had to phone the Vrbo complaints department and sent all video and pictures of everything whilst on the phone to them a massive cockroach came down the wall. Vrbo kindly sorted us with new accommodation in a hotel and will refund us the amount we paid to the owner and the hotel we stayed at. Vrbo agreed that no one should be staying there. The owner claimed there was nothing there but I can provide all the evidence (the camera never lies) Can't really comment on the location as we never got to explore it but everything else is a big thumbs down for me. I read in a previous comment that she said she lived upstairs so no idea why she didn't come down to speak to us.

Convenient Place on the North Shor
This was a comfortable place for us to stay just a short walk from the beach. The place was clean, and we kept cool with the fan provided. The neighborhood was quiet. It was nice to be able to walk to the beach instead of having to try to find a place to park! Traffic at sunset was crazy!

Large studio in prime location!
The studio is very large and fully equipped. If you are looking to stay near the nicest beaches in the North Shore, this is definitively the perfect place! Haliwea is only 10min drive, so we went there for diner.

Everything I needed
I was on a bike trip around the island and needed a place to stop along the way. Since I was biking, I didn't know what my exact arrival time would be. I arrived a little before check-in time, but the door was open and everything appeared ready. The AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. Having a fridge was nice because I could make ice for my water bottles. The beach is very easy to access and there are a few good food options within walking distance. I slept well and was able to get on with my ride the next day, no issues!
