"The house is very comfortable and the kitchen was quite well equipped. One thing lacking though was placemats for the dining table, and we were told to use the pot holders for protecting the table. Also, the 4 slice toaster only worked for 2 slices as it had been damaged on one side, so that wasn't great when there's 6 people.The décor is very tasteful, however there could be a few more pieces of furniture than just the basics. It would also have been nice to have a coffee table in the living room for our drinks and snacks. A coffee table in the lower level games room would also be useful and maybe put a cabinet under the TV to store the games instead of them just being piled on the floor. We really didn't spend much time in that room though as it was too cold to sit down there for any length of time. All in all, we enjoyed our relaxing Haliburton break with family. "

"direction for the amenities were very helpful,,,,hot tub ready to go, that was nice, beds were nice to sleep in, with warm cover sand pillows .. heated floor in bath room nice touch ,,, basement a bit unfinished ,and not much decor on walls, throughout some spots could us a little TLC ,like base boards in washroom ... and throughout ,,,, side door base could use replacement ,, pouches could use a cedar stain .on them for esthetics and first impression,,,,,, ,, firepit was nice did not try the sauna ,,tv worked fine ,,PS ; converter battery running low ,, kitchen well stocked maybe a few more large plates, dishwasher worked well ,,,,remind guests of type of coffee maker to bring proper coffee Podi, home heating was working fine throughout home ,,no power outages, dome was ok some panels covered / , paths were well shoveled, snow plowed,, parking was well plowed,, Beer fridge is nice. Overall good value for the location and good access. to Minden and Haliburton for skiing, snow shoeing, they came in handy,,,. ,, ice racing in Minden, and ice fishing ..famiy had a good time ..all amenities as advertised, thanks "

"Fantastic stay at "Away" in Haliburton! Family spent 3 nights in this peaceful, fully equipped home. Thoughtful attention to all details before and during our stay by an attentive, caring host. "The host was very responsive! The cottage was stocked to the max with condiments, basics like sugar, oats and flour. Everything worked. No wifi.Beds were comfy. The lake is beautiful. Caught fish right off the dock! Saw 2 pileated woodpeckers next door and there's a loon family on the lake. Fairy lites to guide the path to the dock at night. The weather was cold, windy and wet most of the time while we were there, but we could make a fire in the fireplace and in the outdoor firepit to be cozy and the location close to #35 made outings accessible. "

"We stayed over labor day weekend 2025. The house was in rough shape (the VRBO photos blur out all the right places) but it was big enough for our family group and was pet friendly. The lock required an app download on your phone which never ended up working for us. I saw other reviews in 2023 mentioning there was not enough place settings but the owner added many more. There are still no dressers or benches or anywhere to unpack clothes. There is also no laundry for guest use which was also a pain (if there is no laundry, there should be more than one towel per person for a week's stay). The bedroom layout is the king bed is upstairs, and the two queen rooms are downstairs. The second bathroom is in one of the queen bedrooms. The day bed is off the dining room and has glass french doors with no curtains. The table now seats 8. There was a gas grill that worked great. Also to note, there are cameras with microphones on the front of the house right next to the picnic table and and back of the house (by the grill) which was NOT disclosed in the listing, (and creepy in my opinion.) When we checked in, we were informed that we were responsible for taking the trash to the landfill (no trash could be left at the house during checkout) which was also not in the listing and not convenient. Overall though the house worked well for us. Great views of the lake! If we were there during warmer days we would have taken advantage of the giant dock at the lake. "

"Great place for a ‘Cottage Feel’ stay. We loved it. We’ll be back for sure! I’m a chef so a few more kitchen tools would have been great, even a few more heat safe baking dishes, tongs, but hey if that’s all I can complain about than I’m happy lol!! "
