The hostel is located very conveniently near the main train station. We had a quadruple private room, which had 2 bunk beds and a small bathroom. The shower was tiny and the room was small. The beds were surprisingly comfortable with all bedding included. It was fine for 1 night as we were passing through Hamburg, but I would not recommend it for a family for longer than that. Things to note - Towels are not included and cost EU5 ea to hire. You can store luggage in their lockers, which take coins only and was EU4 for 6hrs.

Wir lagen in einem Raum, nicht so ein Bett, sondern 3 Doppelbetten aus Metall mit harten Matrazen. Mir schmerzt voll der Rücken. Eine Nacht kann verbracht werden, aber nicht mehr so wie wir. Kein Frühstück

Overall Generator is a good stay for the money, clean rooms and a decent size, with amenities you’d need. There are a few set backs however. Mainly it’s a hostile for kids, and they check in and out by the masses. So the front desk is nearly always busy and if you don’t want to wait on a long line you’re better off figuring things out yourself. I was at the hotel for 8 days and they don’t clean the rooms, even when I asked the cleaners on my floor. They said they only clean when there is a check out, otherwise I have to speak to the front desk, and I already described how long that takes. They also have only 2 small elevators for hundreds, possibly a thousand guests. The area directly outside isn’t great. It is however, super convenient because all the trains you can need are across the street. A good stay, but not perfect.

Fantastic modern hostel with friendly staff and great facilities. They were very helpful after my late arrival due to a flight cancellation. The surrounding area is a little rough, but once you move away from the train station it gets better. Rooms were surprisingly quiet too!

The 6 bedroom room looks a lot smaller than the pictures online. I was there end of June, the room was very warm, no AC, with a loud fan to fresh a bit. The mattress, pillow and bedsheets were nice and clean. No stains, no bedbugs, no weird smells. The bedroom had the convenience of having it’s own door with a shower and another door with a toilet, but it was the size as an airplane’s toilet, imagine taking a shower in it, i’m fit,1,75m tall and it was very unpleasant to shower, to move around and dry myself, i wonder how bigger people than me can use it. Maybe bigger showers outside the room wouldn’t be that bad. All people at the reception were super friendly and helpful, but i was unlucky to get one in a bad mood who was very rude to me, but i believe it was an isolated situation. The block where the hostel is has lot’s of homeless and junkies around what gave me (and other guests i talked to) a feeling of “not safe!”, but i was told that they are not dangerous, not pickpocketing, so i relaxed and found out that the location is very nice actually and easy to go everywhere from there. Plus the main train/bus station are right next to it and it’s great to arrive and just go across the street with your luggages and you’re done. Supermarket, drugstore and places to eat, all across the street at the main station. I chose this Hostel mostly because of the price and location, and i would stay there again if i’m on a budget.

The Place is very good also the staff are everyone nice and friendly. This is around 3 min. at Hbf and the connections are the best.
