My family and I stayed at this cottage for a week and all agreed that after over 15 years of staying in the area for a week each year, this was one of our favorites. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and had all the essentials for us for the week. The photos are beautiful but do not do it quite enough justice. We had a wonderful week.
We had a great time staying at the house. The owners have thought of everything. Well stocked kitchen with everything you need. It was quiet, clean with an incredible view. We got our kayak and paddle boards out on the water a few times. Walking distance to Hippo’s is a plus and you will definitely enjoy the food. If we are back in the area we would love to stay again!
This is a great place to stay, superbly appointed accommodation, lovely location, friendly neighbours, convenient for the Marina and Hippos takeaway. And Devin is an excellent host, who is always reachable, polite and attentive. Perfect.
Clean, modern interior makes for a very relaxing stay. Enough bedrooms to accomodate several people. Nice patio.
Beach access as advertised. Rocky beach. Waterfront had a lot of algae you have to walk through if you want to swim, but other than that very pleasant to spend time by the lake.
Lots of great things to do in the surrounding area within 30min drive.
Spent time relaxing on the deck and by the lake. Enjoyed having close proximity to a boat launch - lots of time spent on PWC and paddle boards. All in all a most enjoyable time was had by the entire family
What a wonderful home in a wonderful location. I can’t say enough about this property and it’s Hosts. Very accommodating and communicated in the most professional manner. Beds were super comfortable. The home had a beachy vibe yet homey. I commend them on their outdoor seating, high quality and extremely comfortable. 6 out of 5 stars!
This was the second time we’ve stayed at this cottage. It was as lovely as the first time. You are in walking distance of food and you can drive 10 minutes up the road to the public beach access as well. The cottage itself is very well kept and the fact that they allow us to bring our two dogs is just amazing, It can be so hard to find vacation rentals that allow larger dogs and has room for 6 people. I would recommend to anyone looking for a cottage rental right on the lake. :)
Beautiful cottage with all the amenities you could ask for. We stayed for 6 days. We had a wonderful stay which included 4 adults and a 3 year old. Lots of thoughtful things for guests included. We enjoyed the board games and corn hole! A short drive to Wainfleet where you will find just the loveliest stretch of beach and crystal clear water and it’s free! Short drive into Dunnville if you happen to forget something or need anything. We will definitely be back!
The view of Lake Erie is magnificent. I really enjoyed the sunrise. Hard to call this a cottage is really more like a house. Very well laid out comfortable and equipped. Super clean. I liked the rural vibe in that area. It was a nice drive both to Port colborne and Welland . Also Rock point provincial Park was great. My husband and I and her grandchildren enjoyed looking for fossils and found plenty of them. Devin was readily available when I needed to clarify anything. We have stayed in many VRBO accommodations and this rated in the top tier.
The property is nicely renovated with all the comforts of home and a well stocked kitchen.
The beds and linen were comfy with lots of space for our family of 4.
During our stay (Aug) the water was warm but the beach was quite rocky. The lake bottome is sandy once you get out from the shore.
Hippos is a nice place to grab a bite and drink, just a few doors down. Our kids enjoyed seeing the horse and goats at the hobby farm (10 min walk).
The road between the house and beach was somewhat busy during the day but quiet at night.
Good star gazing if you get a clear evening. Was a fun week at the lake!
Lovely home in a lovely setting! This home is superbly refinished and wonderfully inviting. The owners clearly care about their home and the comfort of their guests, and are responsive and easy to communicate with. Plenty of towels, linens, and pillows. Basic shower necessities also provided (shampoo, etc.) No dishwasher, but this home is for vacation (no dish washing for me!), so we enjoyed many dinners out in the nearby towns. Lots of restaurants in Port Colborne, Dunnville, and on the way to Crystal Beach.
I traveled here with my husband, two children (12 & 16), and mother-in-law (80) for the solar eclipse, and we were all very comfortable. We enjoyed a morning fossil hunting at Rock Point Provincial Park and the boys even braved the frigid water for a "polar plunge" following the solar eclipse. We enjoyed the evening in the adirondack chairs by the firepit on the beach. Magnificent sunsets and sunrises abound here. Quiet town. Gorgeous lake views. Enjoy!
*For those who are wondering, the primary bathroom is located on the first floor along with two of the four bedrooms (a king and a twin). The other two bedrooms (a double and a queen) and a spacious half bath are located on the second floor.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage here. The cottage itself was very modern and well-appointed. It was exactly as listed. The beach was a bit rocky up on the shoreline for swimming, but once you walked out about 10 feet, it became sand and was a nice wading height for an average adult. Hippos is a minute-walk away and it is a reasonable driving distance from downtown Dunnville, Port Maitland and Long Beach. We had a very peaceful stay and appreciated the quick and gentle communications of the owner. My only suggestion is that the towels provided were quite small, three just fit for my children, and there was only one extra toilet paper roll provided (for a group of 5 staying over 3 nights). Not sure if that was an oversight by the housekeeper, but it would be better not to worry about running out of TP. The neighbourhood is very tranquil and it's very easy to walk along North Shore road, by the lake. Every plot is private property though, so you're really only able to walk on the road and need to be careful of vehicle traffic. It's fine for adults, but with children you need to keep an eye on them. Overall, it was a very comfortable and relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend it, especially for adults and pets!!
My favorite parts of the cottage (really a house)
1) views of Lake Erie. Such a beautiful view especially in the mornings. Great front deck with comfy outdoor furniture.
2) layout of the house. 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedroom downstairs which was a perfect setup for us.
3) kitchen was fully equipped and my husband loved the grill.
4) comfortable beds with extra pillows and blankets.
5) hippos. Became one of our favorite spots.
6) location close to public beach access and Dunnville has grocery stores and restaurants.
7) host Devin was always available, responded quickly and check in process was super easy.
Things that weren’t my favorite parts:
1) coffee machine wasn’t cleaned when we arrived. Not a huge deal…we just cleaned it.
2) bathroom setup. I was not a fan of the shower but we adapted. The glass door opened from the back so it was hard to turn the shower on without getting hit with ice cold water, floor was slippery (could use a bath mat - there could have been one that we didn’t see) and there was no seat or ledge so it was hard to wash legs and shave.
3) bugs…everywhere. Little natty bugs that got into the house. I think the side door needs a new liner (we never opened the back door at night) and we noticed a gap between the door and frame so we think the bugs got in that way. When we got up in the morning the ceiling would be covered in bugs. We ended up vacuuming them up every morning. So just be aware if you hate bugs.
We had a wonderful week. The cottage is beautiful and the view amazing. Everything we needed was there, even fresh flowers on the dinner table. And just a few steps away the most delicious shakes at hippos.
We spent a wonderful week at this beautiful property. We enjoyed sitting down by the lake on our private beach, even on chilly days. There is something so calming about being close to a lake. The house is spacious and very well equipped. Everything we needed was there. We also enjoyed going to Hippo’s. Thank you for a great vacation.
