About this property

The Penny Postcard Historic House

  • About this space
Calling history buffs of all stripes: This centrally-located home is a short 12-minute walk to historic Harpers Ferry & the Appalachian Trail.

Let this fully renovated 1900's home begin your journey to discovering the rich & distinctive history of our area. Historical touches of are sprinkled throughout the house--from vintage Harpers Ferry postcards to antique newspapers depicting the Civil War, vintage Appalachian Trail maps, and other throwback novelties.

    Suitable for families and groups.
    The space
We are all things wild & wonderful West Virginia and proud to celebrate the history and majesty of staying in one of the most beautiful and historic American towns. With vintage and antique penny postcards, pages of antique newspapers recounting the Civil War, and antique novelty plates decorating the walls, our house strives to give you a real sense of place.

This stone and plaster three-bedroom, two-bath house was built in 1900, but the interior is thoroughly modern and warm and sunny. Situated of a half-acre lot, you will have access to a large green yard, an abundance of highly coveted off-street parking, and a patio dining area.
    Guest access
You will have access to the entire house and large backyard and patio area.
    Other things to note
Wild & wonderful isn’t just a motto here in Harpers Ferry. Bolivar and Harpers Ferry are adjacent to the national park protected wilderness area, and the wildlife hasn’t heard about property lines yet! You may see wild animals on the property during your stay. In the early morning and late afternoon, deer will stroll over from the national park to graze on our grass. Possum and raccoon will roam the alleys looking for a snack. You may even see a snake or two or a big bug. These critters are all part of our ecosystem and we treat them with respect and caution. Like the old adage says, “look but don’t touch,” but our furry friends do make pretty good photo subjects.
