About this property
La maison sous les chênes, gîte in a traditional Basque house, in a peaceful setting.
Between the lake and the mountains, HAIXPIA, a traditional Basque house PGJyPgset on the hill, welcomes you, in its lush green setting, with its clearing with remarkable trees.
Nature lovers looking to disconnect, alone, as a couple or as a family, welcome within the centuries-old walls of this guest house, where wood, stone, natural materials, antique furniture and local cuisine give a unique charm to this old farm in the Labourdin country! An unforgettable, soothing and comforting stay. The cottage is a large 2-room apartment (60m2) on the ground floor of the house.
You are in Hasparren, a few minutes from the centre of the village, an ideal starting point, on foot or by bike, for hikes unique in their landscape, fauna, flora and history. When you return from your walks, you will appreciate the comfort of the place, the beauty of the park. On order you can taste the local recipes of the table d'hôtes, which mix the delicious products of the HAIXPIA vegetable garden with those of the neighbouring producers, or have a breakfast delivered to you.
The storey of a renovation A few years ago, I inherited Haixpia, which belonged to my father, and undertook to bring this "house under the oaks" back to life.
I wanted to restore it while preserving its integrity and using traditional processes, to preserve the volumes and the interior layout, the large entrance, the eskaatza, the sheepfold on the ground floor and the huge hayloft and its exceptional framework. So that visitors can discover this testimony of ancient know-how, the original architectural structure of a traditional farmhouse.
Today, Haixpia is already partially restored, transformed into a welcoming place with rooms, gîte and table d'hôtes. The very natural decoration, the wood, the antique furniture add to the charm of this old building while bringing touches of modernity and comfort.
