Our beautiful Cornerstone property is on 170 acres, nested in the Ouachita Mountains, and only has one cabin, Sunset Cabin. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin with wrap around deck, front porch and hot tub. . The scenery on the property is beautiful and there is access to many ATV and walking trails and our 12-acre lake only about 300 yards from the cabin. Walk on a trail through the trees to the lake or drive over for easy access. At the lake, there are kayaks and canoe available for our guests. The lake is stocked with wide mouth bass, catfish, blue gill and perch. Our guests are allowed to fish with catch and release policy.

The property is in its own little valley with a forest of hard wood and pine trees, and open areas. It is conveniently located less than a half mile from the highway, yet private. You can hear the highway and a nearby train from the cabin in the distance.

The entrance to the Cornerstone property is at the intersection of County Road 30 and Cornerstone Lane, Hatfield, AR. The best coordinate for GPS systems is 283 Cornerstone Lane, Hatfield, AR, which takes you to the cabin. Those who make reservations, will receive detailed directions to our cabin, Sunset Cabin.
Pets are allowed with a $40 fee per pet per stay. We do ask that the pets stay off of the furniture and must be house trained.

All linens are provided and the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, drip coffee maker, coffee & filters, etc.

Payment schedule: 30% due at time of booking, and thenĀ 30% due 14 days days before arrival. Remaining balance due 7 days before arrival.
Cancellation policy: 100% of paid prepayments refundable when canceled 14 days before arrival or earlier. 50% of paid prepayments refundable when canceled 7 days before arrival or earlier. 0% refundable if canceled after.
Security deposit: No security deposit is due.

Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Wash dishes, and start dishwasher if loaded.
Wash all towels in convenient laundry room with 2 washers and dryers. Make sure all towels are in the dryers and turned on before leaving. Please just don't leave wet towels in the washers.
Take all trash out to the outdoor trash cans in the back area below the covered deck. Outside the French doors.

Perfect location

This place was perfect for our family vacation! The house was cozy and inviting. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch with a fire every evening. The lake was perfect for kayaking and fishing. We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent Getaway!

Gorgeous cabin and location. We loved driving around the trails in our ATV and throughly enjoyed the peace and quite. The cabin was fully equiped and very clean! Very nice size lake that we enjoyed wetting a hook in. Not far from Mena at all to get a bite and explore other trail riding areas. Would definitely reccomend and will be returning!

The Best

This was our 3rd visit and did not disappoint again. Cabin is comfortable and clean. The property is gorgeous. Love the little jaunt through the woods to the lake. Fishing is fabulous with catfish bass and crappies. We used the kayaks and canoe. Took a lovely nature hike. The hosts are wonderful and accommodating. We will be back for a 4th visit.

End of summer getaway

Living in East Texas, I get sick of summer after 6 months, so we were hoping a stay in November would bring cool weather along with some changing leaf coloring. We werenā€™t disappointed. The cabin and grounds are a perfect getaway and itā€™s well taken care of. Mary is precise with the cabin instructions and it is well stocked with everything you need (besides food, and there is even some flour, sugar, spices, etc). The hot tub and fire pit on the deck was very relaxing. It was a very worthwhile trip and I hope we will be back soon.

The Perfect Getaway

Loved our short week in the trees for fall break. This location is just 15 minutes from Mena, Arkansas where you can get a bite to eat, grab groceries and do some small town shopping but why go to town when you have a wonderful private lake with a canoe and kayaks. Evenings by the firepit after a dinner al fresco of grilled steak and then on to a hot tub visit before heading off to slumber. Wake up to coffee on the deck and watch the deer play. Plus your pups are welcome here and they enjoyed our walks in the woods far better than any dog park. This could become a tradition.

Perfect Place to Stay!

This cabin was amazing! Everything was so clean and the scent diffusers added so much to the experience! I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while taking Talimena Drive. If you're looking for a staycation destination, this is it! There's enough room for a group to spread out and do your own thing. We tried out the hot tub and it was amazing! We didn't have enough time this trip to start a fire in the fire pit, but will definitely do so next time, along with taking a trip down the road to the gorgeous lake. Mary was very accommodating with any needs we had, and let us stay a little over check-out time when our laundry wasn't dried completely, even though she didn't have to. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a place to stay near Mena!

Our HONEYMOON at Cornerstone Mountain Retreat Sunset Cabin

My HUSBAND, our furbabies, & I had an amazinggg HONEYMOON at the gorgeous and charming Cornerstone Mountain Retreat Sunset Cabin in the Ouachita Mountains! It was sooo secluded & PRIVATE! (Just the way we like it!ā€¦ Our kind of PARADISE!šŸ˜‰) We enjoyed playing in the lake with our furbabies, fishing, kayaking, hiking the trails, sleeping in, relaxing in the hot tub, unwinding by the fire pit, and watching the beautiful mountain sunsets from the lake! Itā€™s truly a little slice of Heaven on earthā€¦ Godā€™s Country! We even took a couple afternoon day trips! We explored and hiked through parts of the Ouachita National Forest on the Talimena Scenic Drive, went off -roading in the Chevy, and played The views were breathtaking!) We canā€™t wait to go back in the future!!!šŸ’—šŸ˜šŸ’ā›°ļøā˜€ļøšŸ¶šŸ”„šŸŽ£šŸš£šŸ˜ŽšŸ’—

Unplugged and reconnected!

Communication with Mary was great and she was super accommodating with any questions prior to booking. Check in was great and cabin was beautiful and great to relax in. Kids had a blast swimming, kayaking at the fishing at the lake. Great Lake to teach fishing on as we did plenty of catch and release. Great time spent unplugged from electronics and reconnecting with family. The negative I would say would be trying to enjoy the lake with someone mowing around it and us and then later in the evening the crew weed eating around the cabin while we were there. Was a bit distracting having a few people and vehicles in and out around the cabin while we were there without any notice or heads up..

Peaceful Getaway

The property is well maintained and the hosts made sure that we had plenty of firewood to use in the wood burning fireplace, as well as the outdoor fire pit. The king bed we slept on was pretty comfortable, I do like a softer mattress and this one felt to be firm mattress. Each of the rooms also had a small living area, which is nice if you have multiple people. The lodge has a well stocked kitchen with everything you need and then some. The fall colors were amazing and the sunset over the lake was really nice too! Mary stayed in close contact with us and was very easy to deal with. The only thing I felt could have been improved during our stay was the hot tub had cloudy and musty water. I did not bring it to the hosts attention and I am sure they would have fixed it if I would have.

Lots of activities

Or while family loved this property. My nephew wanted a cabin in the woods experience and we were not disappointed. My other nephew gets bored easily so this property also had lots of activities to keep the teens entertained. Kayaking, canoeing, and fishing (catch and release) and some hiking trails. We also were able to bring a 4 wheeler and rented an ATV from a local company that picked up and dropped off at the cabin. There are lots of local atv trails we could easily access and enjoy not too far from the property.My family lives in Dallas and it was only a 4 hour drive. We would live to come back to this beautiful property that slept 4 adults and 2 teens comfortably.

Delightful seclusion

If you live in DFW this is about the shortest drive you can make to get into some Arkansas woods. A tiny 4.5 hour drive from FW and we were eyeball deep in harmonizing crickets and sweet summer hay. Drive for a 45 minutes to an hour and you can be in several different state parks amd trail area. It's an awesome home base as it is off the highway enough to provide privacy, but close enough to pop on in for a quick drive. We usually travel to Arkansas in the winter so I was not prepared for the vibrant and terrifying insect life. I'm sure it's a sign of a healthy ecosystem, but as a horror film fan, I take issue. šŸ˜† Anyway, those walking sticks are otherwordly.
