Sycamore Motel Havana Near Illinois River

"The Staff of the motel hardly spoke English at all and refused to accept the expedia prepayment as they say they never end up getting paid by Expedia. If I wanted to stay I had to pay them again, I refused and booked another motel down the street. Despite this, Expedia refused to refund my money and basically threw the whole thing back in my lap. I will never use Expedia again nor stay at this place in Havana. Instead, dear traveler, book the RED LION Motel in Havana, much better place, great staff and not much more money."

"The home was absolutely spotless. Very quiet neighborhood and walking distance to several places to shop and dine. The host was quick to answer any questions. We would definitely recommend staying here when in the area."

"Always enjoy my stay here. It is a great small getaway place and everyone is so nice. Stayed in a smaller room the first time and for the price it was worth it, but when I stayed in the bigger room with the hot tub I loved the room. But there was some stains on the floor & one of the chairs that were a little concerning. The jets in the tub also seemed to have not been cleaned properly so I did not use. All in all I’d go with the smaller room then to pay as much as I did for the bigger one. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very homey and welcoming. Definitely will be back. "

"No pool or breakfast as advertised. Hotel is under construction and a mess right now. Coffeemaker in room did not work. Large room had space to spread out and unexpected pull out bed in the couch of the king suite. King bed was comfortable, but very high off the floor. No carpet in room, solid surface flooring which some may appreciate. No hairdryer in room as advertised either. Refrigerator and microwave were on the same circuit as the bathroom exhaust fan which meant using the microwave made the fan squeal as it wasn't getting enough power. No outlet near the desk at all. Located right off the highway making it easy to find, but loud with semi-truck traffic. Heating/cooling unit fan was very loud when it kicked on. Screened windows were nice to open for ventilation, but there were rips in the screens that could let bugs inside. No frills here. Listing needs to be updated for this place. "

"My bride Shelby and I got married this last weekend. I reserved one of the rooms for her and her friends to have a pretty spot to take pictures and safe place to all stay together.The rooms were: clean, cozy and safe.The hosts were absolutely wonderful! We had 6 inches of snow on the ground and they reached out to ask if they could help us shovel and clear cars.Shelby and I hope to stay here again near our first anniversary. If you’re looking for a place in the area we would highly recommend. "
